Mr. Bigglesworth

Like any true police force though, they always arrive too late. #coredonutshops

Karolus

I assumed there was something similar to the Imperial Inquisition. A group dedicated to some core philosophy, say a branch for each god. The gods are powerful enough that they tend to fight proxy wars around the periphery, but do not fight in the "core" regions. The Inquisition would go and burn out corruption, but like the empire, they are fighting an uphill battle. If you look at the Quing Dynasty in China, you can have a functional society for hundreds and thousands of years, assuming you are diligent in discovering and suppressing dissonants. The fact that these activities are brutal and inhuman is often seen as a feature, not a bug.

Macronomicon

Oooh, by the book fire cleansing types? That sounds fun!

Mr. Bigglesworth

I meant to ask, is there a justification for all the corruption in the 'Inner Sphere' cause at the moment I'm having a real hard time believing they managed to hold for 4 million years.(3.5-4k layers, 1k years per each new Sphere layer=4 million years) The number of problems associated with corruption of the levels seen should have crippled the fight against the Kippling well before Earth's issues. If there aren't some real by-the-book fire cleansing purge types, I feel like the Inner Sphere should already have fallen.

Macronomicon

That sounds like the kind of high tech they might use at the Core. I gotta save some stuff for the future. It sounds cool, though.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Essentially a cellular rune would basically pull the mana in magnetically in a pattern that transmits to Garth's Lantern. This would be even more effective because it's A) Within the opponent's Lantern, B)Only able to be countered by burning the cell runes off, and C)Adds to the field advantage Garth has passively by empowering his 'Lantern' Field.

Mr. Bigglesworth

It would be a very obvious, and very Garth-like thing to have been tinkering with along with his other stuff. Reason being such manipulation of magnetic forces would lead to Force Shields against metal objects which ties in with his plant theme. If he can/could level a field to make metal unavailable to the opponent it would create the home field advantage for bio-weapon manipulation.

Mr. Bigglesworth

If a M. Core is not sentient, then duplicating the effect via a living medium such a spore setup should be viable. Unless the M. Cores produces a magnetic field that cannot be duplicated in any way, the right combination of cells could produce the same magnetic anomaly via electromagnet. Spores could create cell magnets via the electromagnetic effect of aligning chemicals in their base form. It wouldn't be as powerful as a metal magnet, but it WOULD scale up with the number of cells used.

Macronomicon

the way I have them written so far is that runic enchantments pull the mana in and force them into shapes which dictate their effects using the magnetic draw of a Core. I'm thinking it takes a living mind to manipulate mana from point a to point b. Unless someone can figure somethign out that makes more sense..

Mr. Bigglesworth

Of course I'm assuming runic enchantments here use mana I admit.

Mr. Bigglesworth

If mana is like electricity, eg. a form of undiscovered energy. Then transmitting it is not a violation of needing Create Life. This is because Runes utilize energy, so if cellular runes were developed by the spores, they could 'feed' a Lantern for Garth without cheating the 'manipulation' part of mana.

Macronomicon

Interesting. I was talking to another user about stuff along these lines. The Create Life ability would be the only thing I could think of that could make something that could manipulate mana.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Lantern style makes a field of controlled mana, roughly? While spores cannot eat mana so far as I've seen, could they transmit it to Garth since it is merely energy? This would allow him to instantly create massive advantage in Lantern style combat against solo or groups by exponentially increasing the size of his field. It wouldn't be unfair, since Garth's own modifications also prove that you can have power sources within your own body. While the majority likely do not due to expense of M. Cores, the strongest opponents probably would? Furthermore, the highest tier of opponents would be so strong in experience and power, it might be impossible to 'drain' them fast enough to reduce/limit their Lantern.

EitherWay

Noice

LifeOfConfusion

"wipes a tear" glorious!
