Jeez these chapters with Momoe really drag on. It’s weird that’s she’s saying things that aren’t that complicated and Takuma is “baffled” or “confused”. Ending with “we need a traitor,” she’s crazy.

Big cliffhanger from Fiction here. What she means exactly by "traitor" is pretty much open at this point. Could be something "harmless" like what you suggest or something as big as Root. I hope it is not anything like the latter and it ends with Momoe being executed or whatever. So as of now it is open whether she this means coup (which I doubt) or just building up a network for civilian-born shinobi to get a bigger part of the cake so to speak. She is not really minding her words in the whole conversation. So traitor could also be an exagerrated word she used in the heat of the moment. Her trying to help get other shinobi without shinobi family background into better positions and sort of starting (assuming she is really the first or this was already started earlier by someone lese) political party I guess is a nice idea. It makes Momoe more than just a power milestone for Takuma to overcome. It makes sense that she feels this way about the whole system of the village considering what we saw of her before. It is also a nice reason for the author to get more interactions between Takuma and Momoe and through her other such shinobi going. Momoe trying to rope Takuma into it and him perhaps also pulling some strings later to help out some of his Genin Corps friends. He could at least ask Barbary or Campbell whether one of the non-Anbu divisions under his Anbu captain needs shinobi with certain skills and suggest they invite some of his friends to an interview. Takuma doing advanced chakra training for earth release is a big hint that he is preparing for learning a B rank jutsu because usually shinobi don't bother with such training for C rank jutsu. So he is already distinguishing himself from most chunin with that. Thus, Momoe will definitely see him as a valuable colleague in her plans and will work on getting him onboard in at least some capacity. Takuma also has no hard reason to be against it. Getting advice fro Momoe like she already offered last chapter or her making him visible to the clans so he might also be courted by them would certainly make Takuma agree because he wants those perks.

Am I the only one that thought that she meant she needed a traitor as in: A traitor from within the Clans, an inside person with enough pull to change things for the civies? Like say her best friend? who happens to be from one of the founding Clans? who happens to be one of the rising stars of her generation? Or did I completely miss the mark and she is planning a coup? (which frankly would be impossible without severely harming and weakening the village)
