I can only think of one LitRPG where shifting to 'Civ Builder' mode didn't completely ruin the book for me, and that's Infinite Realm by Ivan Kal. To be fair, in that particular case the story does not become about building a city, it's more like the city becomes a base of operations and one of the main characters passes off managing it to a trusted underling. So, not really a 'Civ Builder' at all. I haven't read any of the books on your list, though, except for Fostering Faust. Randi Darren / William D Arand books always seem to start great for me but I lose interest over time, I'm not 100% sure why. I'll throw out Super Sales On Super Heroes as a William Arand PG-13 offering. I might not be able to get into Book 5, but Book 1 is one of my all time favorites.
