Ability Suggestions For Level 30
🕑 Added 2025-02-03 15:26:32 +0000 UTCI'm sitting here in the hotel about to write, when I realized Will has finally hit level 30, Where he gets to pick a new Tertiary Ability.
The key point about Tertiary Abilities is that they come every 30 levels and they CANNOT be upgraded, ever. They are only ever as good as their description. Taking one boosts your flexibility but they can never be the core of your build.
I WOULD LIKE YOU GUYS TO GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS!
For inspiration, These are the Abilities that already made the cut and will be in the list:
Uru Breath (minor) 5 Charges: Unleash a blast of space-warping breath, the dimensional ripples cause temporary damage and nausea to those inside the cone. May cause objects to crack or joints to loosen.
Stone Charge Active: 1 Charge 20ft range. Coats the user’s body in stone armor and/or propels them forward at lethal speeds.
Venom strike Active: 1 charge Add a poison effect to the next attack with a slashing or piercing weapon. Scales with Acuity.
Mighty Leap Active: 1 Charge You Jump distance is tripled for a single jump. Seen it. Prey’s Senses Passive The User’s field of vision widens, as well as minor improvements to their hearing and smell. Scales with Acuity. Seen it. Molt Active: 3 charges Minor self-heal. Stops bleeding and minor ongoing damage.
Titan’s Grasp Passive: Space and gravity subtly warp around objects the user tries to hold, allowing them to handle objects both larger and smaller than they might’ve otherwise been able to handle, whether that be from cumbersome size or weight.
Phantom Eye Active: 1 Charge Summon a Phantom Eye for (Acuity) Seconds. The Eye is invisible, goatlike, moves at the same speed as Phantom Hand, and has depth perception.
Progenitor affinity Passive: Further enhances the natural affinity scaled creatures have towards you.
Stubborn Ass Passive: User’s Inertia becomes more difficult to change through outside forces, adding force to their attacks and resisting shoves and strikes.
Serpent’s Tongue Active: 1 Charge With a vile word of Eternity, extend the duration of debuffs on the target for (Acu/10) Seconds.

TheShadowSlayer_
Kind of a short term solution, imo. Might be better if it was naming something like “Invader” and actively contributed to ending of the coil every time he used it. Hype up that Deceiver foreshadowing.
TheShadowSlayer_
Tail-eater: Self-cannibalism heals you for 100% of the biomass consumed. No stat scaling. Healing unaffected by external influences such as buffs, debuffs, or curses. Intended use is to consume severed limbs to instantly regrow them, or sacrifice non-critical body parts to regrow critical ones. Kinda a meme ability, but also something to temp Will and have some character moments, since he hates losing limbs so much.
Lazy
Coiling Body: thinking an ability that gives will a overall boost, like a second wind but for attacks maybe? Kinda like when a snake goes to pounce on its pray with all its might, it could have a fear factor too in it making enemies sense immense danger?
Charles Travasos
Stubborn ass is sick but I love this ability. I think that he would have to scale it down a bit but it is super in line with Will’s breaking the rules
MisterTubs
Taken to increase effectiveness with summoned Immortal Serpents. With unintended benefit of becoming more compatible with Loth.
MisterTubs
Progenitor Proliferator: Gain a boost to a stat of the highest stat of a scaled creature with high affection towards you. May gain aspects of said creature. Gained aspects may not be physical.
Subliminy
Egg of the Serpent (or Uru Drake) - ties in with some of the consumption ideas but also the oysters's power... Will "eats" (ne sacrifice) items and/or relics and they incubate in an egg. The more rare or powerful item the longer the egg will incubate, but also the potentially more powerful what's hatches from the egg. It could be a new relic or a sacrifice that combines aspects of what was consumed... Or even a lesser creature or familiar (which could kind of tie into the prophecy and spreading of the "Deceiver's" power etc...)
Jonty
Will's recent problem has been his enemies disabling his phantom hand through various methods which takes out most of his offensive options. So he either needs an additional offensive option or, if I'm reading this correctly, stubborn ass synergies with the phantom hand to make it more resistant to outside forces which would make it OP. I also like the look of titans grasp
Macronomicon
not sure we can offer this just yet, but eventually I'd like to revisit it.
Macronomicon
sounds like an upgrade rather than it's own ability.
Ken Horne
Many hands make light work: phantom hand divides into acuity/10 different hands. Once a day, for acuity minutes. Restrictions: storage and hand abilities are sealed. If a hands action is opposed by anothers will, the effect is ended. So no attacks, even clever low force attacks like blocking airways. But building, crafting, trap laying, ok. Not OP because the bugs can do similar, but flexible and allows him to throw something clever together fast.
Alias
I would change the Serpent’s Tongue ability to a deceiver’s ability. See below. Forked Tongue of Eternity: Speak, and your lies become your enemy’s reality for Accu/10 seconds. Charge is spent by the word. Each word costs twice as much Charge as the previous word. Your sentence must make sense and be understood by the enemy for this ability to activate. For example. If William Oh said “You can not move” that sentence would cost 15 charge, and it would paralyze an opponent if they understood that Will was talking about them. 1 + 2 + 4 + 8. Only one target can be selected at a time. Everyone else just hears a vile serpent hissing.
FossilWreckers
Horned Up: Head and face are incredibly durable. Slither-In: Contortion beyond what regular human anatomy is capable with slight Str bonus for escapes and grappling.
FossilWreckers
Both hands?
Karolus
This. But have them give a buff the more people believe the outlandish tales. Like Yip of Yore from Primal Hunter, if you read that. It should make for funny times as the Chuck Norris style jokes grow in absurdity
Zane
You could do one related to him being the Deceiver where the prophecies get more grandiose and prone to slight inaccuracies
RedInkQuill
Titans appetite- eating relic dust heals wounds and restores charges
CAPTAINCAEL
if phantom eye is chosen would Will got another phantom body part option? could this lead to 2 Wills?
Darkdej
Titan's grasp, progenitor, and stubborn all seem cool
Deshauwn
How about Gravity Yoke, Astral Threshold Tread (GYATT) Passive – The user exerts a subtle gravitational influence over their footing. This would be more aimed toward space mobility and course correction instead of holding things like titans grasp
Stephen E Wilson Jr.
Titans grip is utterly perfect for Will.
Ningen
I like the idea of shedding skin to some effect, ie shed your skin to temporarily buff your stats by x amount for x amount of time based on acuity or instantly shed your skin to create an independent copy of yourself for x amount of time based on acuity.
Notcreepycreeper
Nah, I feel like any immortality power should be core build/upgradable. Also just pure longevity isn't as much fun or on theme as some kind of weird molt/reincarnation power.
Notcreepycreeper
like this. Fits will's theme of beating everyone with directed chaos. Has great long term use even as he grows more powerful. He doesn't really have any good protection against snipers as yet
Cyrus McEnnis
Because Fuck You That's Why: burns all non-active "fingers" to boost the effectiveness of the currently held aloft finger. Not sure on the exact mechanics, and whether it permanently sacrifices the stored powers in the Phantom Hand or just triggers a lockdown, but it ties into the sacrifice portion of Will's build to provide a multiplier to a specific ability. And it means that giving someone the Finger will result in a fine soup-like homogenate of a target. I'd suggest non-permanent, a lockdown similar but longer than the usual one for shifting abilities would mean you're not having to redesign Will's build whenever he triggers it... but, if you wanted a way to reset the board on Will's build in extremis, you could do some interesting things from a narrative perspective with a permanent sacrifice. Although I'd definitely hold F's in chat for Noob, Billy-bob, and Stevie if that happened >.>
Macronomicon
I like that for an upgrade to phantom hand and less of it's own Ability.
Alex Matheny
Something like Temporal Trail: Can deposit or withdrawl from Phantom Hand at the speed and location X seconds ago
Farxzay
Uru Eye Active: 5 charge. Gain postcognition for (Acuity) seconds. The effect allows the user to see events that happened in the past, with the distance (in time) scaling off of Acuity. Could be seconds per point, maybe minutes or longer. If upgraded, could allow for precognition, so might not be the best choice for a tertiary ability, but maybe Will sees it as an option for his next secondary.
Tom C
Miasma shunting skill. Be able to quickly dump all your miasma (to descend tower fast). Not reversible. Skill will not allow for fast ascension. Not safe to do all at once. Dump miasma for a single floor then descend another floor. Basically allows him to avoid the time stops in each floor but stick some risks in there too.
Clifton Thrasher
Decoy skin 2 charges shed a layer of skin The decoy skin looks and acts exactly as the user
Kurt A
Spatial reversion: Teleport to a preset location or to someplace you were within the last 5 seconds. Lose current momentum but gain whatever momentum you had when you set the location. Cost based on distance traveled.
Tom C
I like this avenue. Especially as we’ve seen him dredge up that serpent guy, so getting offered a skill linked to previous actions makes sense! If not a skill then definitely something to be explored more I think
Garrett Therkorn
Eye of the Uru Drake: You are able to see miasma. Simple, straight to the point, and might open up quite a lot of avenues for Will to investigate things interesting things like spawn points.
Mondred
Environmental adaptation: being able to quickly adapt to any environment including it's miasma level.
Mondred
Mimicry: phantom hand is now has a malleable form
Mondred
Like how ouroboros bites his own tail
Mondred
Precognition : see focus/12 seconds into the future as battle sense. Self consumption: ferment past remnants of your reincarnations into a consumable to gain random memories and or experiences and or abilities.
Max Levigion
Dimensional Sense of the Uru: allows the user to feel unnatural shifts in space and dimensions. (Could allow Will some unexpected intell when fighting other users with dimensional aspects in their kit as well as enhance the understanding of his own dimensional abilities (especially the release of objects form his phantom hands seems not fully utilized to me))
Infinate Fail
Stubborn ass really combos well, and already has existing synergy, would also be nice if it applies to his ground shockwaves
Mariposa
I like the idea of a passive based off the Uru. It's a super powerful and rare sacrifice that doesn't seem to get a lot of love. Chaos Distortion (minor): an aura around the User distorts space. Everything moving through the aura has the angle or space changed unpredictability. An example would be an arrow coming for Will's chest instead hits his stomach, or it could miss entirely. It would add an element of chaos to the fight that not even Will can always predict. He'd instead get really good at taking advantage of the chaos.
Mariposa
I agree I like seeing the hero struggle hard now and then. Though they have a lot of floors to get through. And I think this was the last floor with any towns in it? So the next ones should introduce a lot more obstacles. It'd be interesting to have loth go up against someone as intelligent as her.
Hamy
I like eye of the goat for espionage and being combo'd with phantom hand. titan's grasp feels like it could strengthen or be augmented by his footing passive and molt would be in theme with his recent regeneration sacrifices. It's so hard to choose.
LordDark
I would like something that makes the phantom hand regenerate a phantom body. Then you have a full phantom will to equip things onto.
Emily Gurnavage
Sounds like it does, at least as written. I suppose if Mac intends it that way or not could be diff though. IF it works that way, id say its a good choice. Otherwise, nah.
Emily Gurnavage
Thats a decent idea. Will isn't human, and super strong snake monsters in fantasy do tend to symbolize immortality or reincarnation and such. Could at least be one to show in his list in-story to get him thinkin more on himself.
Ariel
List is very solid. Love the phantom eye and stubborn ass. I would maybe add something to resemble snakes molting their old skin. Will could collapse out of his body and turn spirit for a second and then reform. Also snake eats is own tail is a motif: could be an ability that allows Will to gain battle intelligence in mid fight by biting himself.
Emily Gurnavage
No suggestions from me this time around, your list is already too solid lol. My favs though *and that feel they fit Will well, not just cool or strong*: - Serpent's Tongue - Progenitor Affinity - Seen it. Prey’s Senses Passive, that paragraph seems to hold like 4 or 5 skills by accident though? But the senses one. The senses one seems like the one Will would choose to me, but obviously you know Will even better lol. Most of the others are great skills, but either seem a bit underwhelming, not fitting with Will, or don't seem to match the build as well for our big bad prophesized Deciever when its a skill that cant be changed or upgraded later.
Sanairb
Someone probably already mentioned this, but shouldn't he be able to warp things with hands and not just his feet? They are the equivalent to feet on a goat, so it should only take a change in his perception of what hands are to get the ability to function.
David Burchfield
I like something like Piercing Gaze, based off the Uru Drake and Immortal Serpent, gives his sight a dimensional flavor allowing he to see through things or in darkness by percieving off dimensional flux rather than light, limited in how far you can see though things but scales off acuity. Maybe lets him taste the air like a snake to get the effect.
Exrotes
I still think Will should get a breath attack since he needs an offensive ability that works if someone takes out his hand (something he knows can happen) but he also has that sweet new upgrade from Goat to Serpent and I think when he summoned one against Carrie it paralyzed her with magic. Eyes of the Serpent (Minor) : 2 Charges contested check of Focus vs Resistance/Focus (whichever is higher) to restrict movement requires eye contact. Idea being if they win the check by a ton they basically ignore it, by a little bit they are slowed down, and so on until Will can just look at scrubs and turn them into statues as long as he keeps eye contact.
BonusWellSpent
Scales of (Not quite) Immortality: Double your longevity. With an actual immortal character showing up there should be some skills that hint at how it is possible to live that long.
Akkido
Maybe this ability could allow him to shift his bones and organs to allow him to slip through small gaps, kind of like an octopus.
1234
Baptism of scales- 5 charges. Infuse an item with miasma, using your hair/nails and other dead body parts. becomes a single use relic, with affects corresponding to what it is. Sand can be a smokescreen that stops acuity, a watch holds slowing debuff and so on. Power scales with acuity
JK Atula
Pearly Whites: Dimensional Oyster Pearls are now considered consumables
Akkido
I like stubborn ass a LOT
Macronomicon
Interesting...I like it, but I'll have to define it a bit better, and I woud think WIll would want to take it as a secondary so he can tweak it a couple times down the road...maybe. that's a long way off. My first instinct was instead of adding an ability of the user, make it so it has a luck-affecting property that will see it always return to the user.,,not as cool as it sounded in my head...will have to think about it a bit.
Macronomicon
It's amazing how popular that eat to gain power combo is. I wonder what basic niche of our psyche it fulfills.
Vinohr
Would also like to propose synergy with phantom hand storage, allowing Will to put stuff in that would otherwise be too big but would fit after the shrinking effect his storage allows
Vinohr
I am once again here to suggest Titan's Grasp, I just think it's neat
Jentry Lange
Ooh yeah. Tower Instincts that scales as he grows. Higher floors and higher challenges being met by a deeper and deeper understanding of how to cheat the system haha
Silence the Lamb
Gravity's fall- 1(charge) to large increase downward gravity of a limb or strike(not aure which stat to scale).... Gives him a solid heavy hitting attack and possible hijinks with limb drops.
Axim
Also the direction I was thinking, but in the direction of having some slight control over flashbacks or ability to see the repeating patterns of the tower. Something like tooltips for the tower. Would be useful as they get farther up where there will likely be less widespread information on floors. Maybe that role is already filled by our immortal crazy pickup.
Tom C
Yay! I helped! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Tom C
Lol I’m ashamed / proud to say this exactly what I thought as well hahaha
Macronomicon
not sure if we'll have it right here as a discrete ability, but I really like the idea of hiding from the loop to mix shit up.
1234
Does stubborn ass affects Will's projectiles from his phantom hand? If so, there is some serious synergy there.
Moon Winchester
[Cold blooded hibernation] - when in a state of unconsciousness significantly drop the bodies temperature increasing the recoverability. If used correctly, the ability can be used to fake death by mimicking a cold corpse
Garnett Coetzee
Would you allow titans grasp to give the phantom hand the bonus? Added strength and handling to his primary skill would expand utility and lethality quite a bit if he didn't need to focus so hard to make it interact with the real world.
Moon Winchester
[Serpentine shift] - able to partially shape shift the physical characteristics of the body. This is because we know immortal serpents can take on any form for their body is one giant mass. This could be sort of the hints of his heritage, allowing him to minor shape shift. I do not mean like the Brianna’s where he can turn his hands in the clause, but in a minor way, changing his hair, color, eye color, facial features, and so on. This would be a good supporting abilities since the longer he lives the more widespread, the legend of William Oh will be. Disability can give him much needed downtime. It also has the ability in the future if he ever gets an artifact that strictly revolves around boosting Shapeshifting abilities, then he can replicate something like the Brianna’s with hand claws only if he has the boosting relic on him, essentially giving him another set in his wide repertoire.
Fiddle
Legacy of the deciever passive: something chaos themed to go along with the whole chaos god thing
Moon Winchester
[Where’s my hands?] - temporarily dematerialize both hands and replace them with phantom hands. Duration related to acuity.
Moon Winchester
I feel like as a byproduct because of Jason and sort of as a possible foreshadowing for the future I feel like he should get a tertiary ability called [Legend] - the Chronicles of your story will forever be told, for you are, [REDACTED]
David Giles
Progenitor Affinity so Loth gets even thirstier.
Tom C
Shroud of ouroborus. For a period of time be hidden from all prophetic skills. Basically allowing him to hide himself from the weird looping prophecy that is going on… really mix shit up
Tom C
Hoard of the Dragon. Will gains his own personal storage space for hoarding treasure. Unfortunately this space also gets hungry and will eat whatever is stored within it unless something or other. I dunno, couldn’t think past that bit. Hoard of the dragon or hunger of the dragon or something along those lines… might not be a winning choice but a potential one to stick on the list for diversity
God
Give him back Gravity Charge
Deinos
Pimple of Uru: A pimple grows that draws the opponents attention. They feel the need to squish it. The longer their attention is drawn the more their perception of time and space shrinks towards the pimple. Scales with Acuity.
Crispined Glover Potato Snacks
Roaring Bleat: a toggleable passive aura of either stubborn oafishness or terrifying presence, Will's choice. Lets Will better manipulate people into either under or over estimating in social contexts. Inspired by the Aspect of the Goat evolving into Aspect of the Drake.
Macronomicon
Yeah that is a concern. We're gonna have to up our game!
Kalle
Goatish resilience: reduce the effect/duration of debuffs with acutiy/x percent/seconds.
A
You Are What You Eat Passive: Gain a long-lasting buff based on the most recent thing you have eaten / digested. Combines with Aspect of the Serpent’s passive ability to eat basically anything so that Will can get very powerful/or and esoteric buffs (like eating leviathan scale to get water-breathing and physical buffs).
.m
I think rather than an explicit litRPG combat bonus, especially since the Party is getting so OP on every level that the story has morphed into wish fulfillment power fantasy rather than the scrappy underdog story it started as, it would be more interesting for this to be an aesthetic change than a combat boost. Vague descriptions would help the story more. Things like "Spatial affinity of the Uru Drake", "Hardiness of the Goat" (or hydra? it's confusing what the basis is anymore beyond Will being able to Mary Sue whatever situation with uncanny presience and a weightless supercannon and infinite staff and a superhero roster of underlings and no need for food or water and no risk of disease and ability to walk on water or fly...). Like, the story needs some conflict to be interesting, and so maybe it needs to be introspective if you've eliminated the threat of everything external from armies to exposure to the elements. Let Will suffer.
JhanicManifold
Wow Phantom Eye seems clearly the best here, at 100 acuity Will can scout stuff about 20km away (at the 500mph speed of the hand). And by sending the hand together with the eye he can basically defeat people completely out of their sight. I love it.
Opportunity Drive
Serpents Blood. Sacrifice some amount of blood to infuse items with one of user's abilities. Normally costly and done all at once, William Oh can mix it with his relic dust leavening trick to make some cool new items for himself party? Wanted something Leadership based, seems like it's his driving motivation is to be a good leader, and will set him up to be an enticing lord
Macronomicon
Goat abilities seem to lean toward Resistance.
Jentry Lange
I really enjoy how you’ve distinguished the roles of the primary, secondary, tertiary abilities kind of inherently based on how they are designed. What do you think of something playing on his experience as Ezekiel (sorry if spelling is off)? Maybe a chance to consciously give over control to Ezykial (also feels wrong) for a period of time scaling with X. Could also use his experience for something like Immortal’s Gaze: Your nature allows you to see the weavings of space and relativity. Gain insight scaling with experience and X. Could be a bullet time style acceleration to thinking or another avenue for his uncanny wisdom to show through
Kalle
Sacrifice (minor/major) : lose (this/all) tetriary abilities but gain a minor/major boost to your primary ability/ stat growth. In line with using his own arm as an initial sacrifice
Joshua Gunty
Gravity Bleat: Unleash a thunderous shout that propels a cone of force forward. Scales with (whatever the Goat's main attribute was, I can't remember).
Eli Loeb
Hardheaded something involving very temporary invulnerability to damage to the top of his head
