ISM image suggestions
🕑 Added 2024-04-03 17:23:35 +0000 UTCSo, I'm getting older and trying to advance my craft with this whole self-publishing thing, and a problem I've run into several times now, is not owning enough art to satisfy amazon and Google in order to look professional.
I'm a professional, goddamnit!
That being said, do you guys have:
1: Suggestions for artists who could do the series justice? Preferably high quality, reliable. Not your cousin. Unless your cousin is making art for Magic The Gathering. That's the kind of commission I'm looking for.
2: Suggestions for big, wide art projects I could put on the ISM series splash page on Amazon that would look totally legit.
I need 2-4 nice works of art for ISM and I don't wanna use AI for any of it. So recommend me some artists! Upvote image ideas that you like! Let's figure something out.

Thing is Macro, the Title and the Cover art is what makes or breaks a book. If I’m looking for a new read, and just browsing the lists, I either look for an author I’ve read before having something new, or I scroll looking at the title, then the cover, then I decide if at want to look the description.

I need art of Solaris and his anchors!!

The artist for beware of chicken I good. Think they go by Tsuu
Clifton Thrasher
For splash art you could do city maps, and various lairs, you could do Natalie's forge, or Solaris as the sun
Colin Groh
Ari Ibarra (Ariirf) has done a lot of commissioned art for Sanderson, you can check his website for lots of examples of work from Stormlight, Berserk, Hollow Knight, etc
TjStorm
And also just ask other creators who you like and read.

I would ask Selkie Myth from Beneath The Dragon Eye Moon who they use. Their covers are really good. They also feature some quality chibi art

Art suggestion: Troll with an arm cannon scaling a skyscraper, king kong style

An artist I have personally commissioned and does good professional work, usually as illustrations in tabletop books Is "ThatArtJack", not sure about his rates for commercial work but he is very reasonable IMO

If it’s like a website banner than maybe Perry and a bunch of identifiable Franklin supers on one side with Perry In the lead and assorted Prawns/Robots/red dragon/laser augmented tentacles on the other. How tough would that be to communicate to an artist?

Gotta have Perry in the same pose as the book 1 title but not beat up, in awesome armor and maybe manifesting a giant sci-fi building behind him with GIM.EXE

Jason Chan does great work https://linktr.ee/jasonchanart?fbclid=PAAaaj9J8yje3g9ntuPU_Zec5nBUzGqVT7uTzT5N21fsX482iNnTPT2P8Jg6k_aem_AUvA1V8viGS1bTONLHG6m14eFCjwzUO7r0KzeUmR7Brw09FxxkJha5QxhfKN-F3C1eY

2: something from perry setting up chicago. Either him goading the gangs, his new minions in armor with unicorns on them, or the cityscape/ fish hunting setup.

Crazy through, but mtg cards have the artist names on them. Have you thought about reaching out to one you like?

Cat Murdock has some cool stuff she has done for Marvel contest of Champions, I really like her stuff. Not sure how much she charges though. https://patreon.com/catmurdock?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=join_link

As far as cheaply and getting good quality. As cliché as it is to say a lot of furry artists take a wide breath of commission types. Go on FurAfinity and make sure you are on SFW mode. Look though until you see an art style that you think will fit the best. Most artists won't mind doing non furry art as long as it pays. Typically with a singular character and background you can be charged 100 to 150 and roughly 10 to 20 per additional character.

I was legit going to recommend the artist who does Selkie’s art because it’s so good! 😅
Deinos
I don't know much about art but I heard Banksy should be passable

If we are talking spreads I doubt there'd be a lot more impressive than Paradox's artificial Krakens or maybe some hallway being overwritten by Pernicious Prison.

I do like the switch in artist idea. Perry looks wicked cool but I uh… kind of hate almost every part of how heather looks in the new cover haha. Maybe her shapeshifting power is why she looks like an alien with hair with a volume significantly greater than her entire head. Maybe try the guy that does “the primal hunter” covers. Those are wicked and I think the artist actually reads the story for stuff he draws for so the end result is not so…unrelated weirdness/you gotta explain every nuance and detail in the scen you want drawn.

Alex Cristi does a lot of really good work, and he's at least open to commissions from a YouTuber ( https://www.artstation.com/alex314/albums/679079 ) ( https://40k.gallery/artist/alex-cristi/ ) Anato Finnstark also does some really good work (including for MtG) https://www.artstation.com/anto-finnstark

...ABOVE 50k? Damn.

Beyond trawling DeviantArt portfolios to find someone with the style you want, the only artist I can think of is Vitaly S. Alexius, though they mostly do their own art / stories. Vitaly did do the cover art for A Perfect Run, so believe they may be amenable to at least discussion. No idea on their pricing.

I am lazy here is a website that a lot of artists use https://www.artstation.com if it's a no I'll keep looking
Seadrake
Tsyuu has done some pretty great work for "Beware of Chicken"
Selkie
I’ve legit paid kart studios close to six figures. They’d do it justice
Gaunt
Aldonius Rex does banger art.
