Antony Claughton

I'm a little confused why the Baron wants to keep the information on Lords and spawns secret. Why is this? Surely, it would create more of a push for more lords if it was known. Hell, the church of Graenish is partly after Will because they think the changelings are causing the bigger struggles in the tower. Revealing it is the reduction in lords would help with that.

Spoolofwhool

Did Bee end up not doing anything in the fight? I just realized any contribution she might've had wasn't touched on

Spoolofwhool

No the maksu village was on the first floor. Will ran into a caravan which was on its way to a keysite so it could climb to the second floor.

Emily Gurnavage

He said only 5 are above him, and I think hes the first floor with a Lord that the gang has been on since Oilton was destroyed. I think just the 6. Don't think the floating island floor or swamp floor had one. Maybe the floatig island, but don't think so.

Emily Gurnavage

Yea, he's been their captive since right around when the gang first re-entered the tower. A hefty chunk.

Karl

Akul is a baron, but the guards are dressed in "the duke's colors"

Arrogant Dreamer

How many Lords are there currently, and how many on each floor?

Ral

I like this setup, thank you!

King Eater

Well, he's actually missing, right? Hes been a captive of the Church of Granesh for a while now.

Andrew Tobin

Everyone misses William Oh’s greatest weapon. The best propaganda money can buy.

Andrew Tobin

To be fair, he didn’t say to William not to be secretive - he just laughed and said there wasn’t much point with the scrutiny he’s under. I think we’ve heard it before as well. The funny thing is, he’s only got very good guesses as the moment - even with all his power and resources.

StrollingEye

Sleeping Kaiju POV too?

Kronos

That sounds interesting!

Daemion

All the powerful people can just look at Will and see his entire build. His secrecy is pointless when it comes to them. So the Baron just wants Will to stop holding back and use every tool at his disposal because he's not actually hiding anything from him or other Lords. Will isn't a Lord yet and is probably years away from being one. His current build isn't sufficient for the role. So it's bound to change anyway. He can reveal all his tricks here and still have surprises left on the next floor. Just look how his abilities changed and expanded since he went shopping here.

Enzo Elacqua

Imma be honest the idea that Will shouldn’t hide his abilities because eventually everyone will know about them is kind of dumb. Sure it doesn’t matter if everyone knows the Barons, because he is already OP, and probably practically unkillable. Thing is, Will is not. He is very prone to death, and is likely already targeted by kill squads from a church and Lord. If anything his situation should push him to hide his abilities until he reaches the higher floors and becomes OP. The focus should be on survival not some weird bragging right amongst peak climbers. He’s already famous enough without tipping his hat. If you do feel the need to push Will to show his full abilities I feel a better argument from the Baron could be that since their secondary abilities change so much it doesn’t matter that much if you show your hand now, since that hand will look mighty different in a few floors when it really matters. That makes more sense to me then just saying hiding trump cards is foolish.

Daemion

By now Loth has taught him better. Btw... it's cute how he listens to her. Loth told him to read more and so at the first opportunity he picks up a book.

Jeff Wells

To be fair, these are William Oh's thoughts; improper use of the word 'less' seems very appropriate.

Jeff Wells

I feel like we haven't been counting the intro floor as an actual floor. I think the Maksu floor was the same floor with the insects and underground cave, the floor with the floating islands was 2, the fire floor with Oilton was 3, the swamp floor was 4, and now the Kaiju floor as Floor 5.

David Giles

Nice to see a Lord who seems focused on the big picture.

Tim Deral

A nice chapter. The lord is a nice character to add to the roster and some very decent world building

Jimmy Oneil

Hooyah new chap

Chris Curtin

How lords think sounds interesting and Will is probably way off base to the pressures and stress of Lordships.

Tetrasimplex

Wasn't the axe from the masku chieftain technically from the 2nd floor, only via a portal from the first floor?

Beeees!

Ooooh, Baron POV sounds very interesting

Daemion

"Less Lords meant individual Floors became more dangerous, which in turn made it harder to pass through them and become a Lord, which in turn meant less Lords, which meant harder Floors…" less > fewer, for both occurences

Andrew

Thank you!

Macronomicon

Tomorrow I was thinking about doing a vignette from the Baron's POV to finally reveal what was in the coffin, and maybe the merc's POV to show them...scheming.
