Andrew

Thank you!

Diarmuid McGinnity

Yeah there’s some good miasma sensing going on with those worms

Diarmuid McGinnity

Why is mr. Salazar hiding his identity?

Macronomicon

I call them 'editing artifacts'

Quazzy

"The entire monster was roughly ***a*** three hundred paces across..." Typo, probably left from when it was initially "a hundred paces across" or something.

Beeees!

Now. That's a dope raid boss

Manuel valdez

William Oh one got into a war of attrition and won by defeating Attrition itself

Jeff Wells

A few possibilities. First: a technique to avoid detection does not imply fear. As an analogy, a swordsman will not fear an attack if he has every reason to believe he will parry the attack safely. He will still conduct the parry, or else he will be killed, but he is not afraid of being cut as he does so. Likewise, the worms will not fear detection if they have utmost confidence in their ability to hide. Second: the worms likely aren't even sentient. They are pieces of a raid boss, and likely have no fear.

Mundane

Loth's look when she hears about these "traps".

Mqrius

After cutting the worm in half, couldn't he have rushed into the 120 yard range and chased the other worms away? Or just with a phantom eye to be even faster.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Nùmenor

The tenth's legendary stronghold won The Great War of Attrition by sheer force of Will.

Munirah Hutchinson

This feels like the kind of thing thay would go well with Map

Yshua

Do the worms have caution without fear?

Yshua

Epic! What a name.

HUAAAANG

Would probably lean into the Bee persona.

Ethan B.

TFTC!! This raid boss is so fucking dead, gimme that sweet sacrifice!!!!!

Ryan Naquin

I wonder if Will can create a permanent miasmatic structure to act as a scarecrow. I know hes just going to kill the raid boss but it would be cool.

SuperNewbie

I disagree, this is, in a way, a coming of age story. When we’re young, nothing seems better than becoming an adult (or Lord in this case). How I see it is that once we become one it’s kind of just tedious and underwhelming, but we have more freedom and responsibilities.

Quazzy

awesome!! TFTC!

Tyler Thompson

I've been kinda thinking about my hype for this story having dropped after the last arch and I think it comes in 2 parts but kinda similar in nature. I think it's the fact of both the big bag paladin guy and the whole lord ship being to goals and built up and up and up. Then we get the climax against the paladin... And as fanatics do he never really feels like he lost. So we never got the pay-off of the enemy realising they lost to good ol will. Then there the whole lord thing. So much of this story is about how William is going to become a lord and so I'm all excited and looking forward to it happening and learning how being a lord works along with William. Then it's just a side note in a time skip. It just feels like we were building to a crescendo but the song just ended.

Baines

giant worm boss lets gooooo!

McIntosh Ewell

That type of maliciousness goes so far beyond salted earth. Imagine how pissed he'd be if he did, and inadvertently gave Will and his crew another ridiculous power boost... and pushed him closer to bridging the gap between Climber and Deity

David Giles

I wonder if this sacrifice is destined for Loth.

Federico

I wonder if the paladin somehow brought this raid boss here in order to delay Will as long as possible, he seemed pretty sure Will was never leaving this floor :D

Macronomicon

that's all me, baby.

Arnon Parenti

I love how bad climbers are at naming things

KipBR

Follow the worms back using terrain control/view

Emily Gurnavage

Oh SHIT. Thats so cool, and completely not what I was expecting. The struggle to catch a single one there was very exciting to read as well.

Patron1kj6tz

I know Attrition is getting sacrificed to Map and or Aspect, but is still can't help but think of a phantom hand upgrade based on it. Something to the effect of spawning smaller hands. No extra slots, just more hands to manipulate stuff kind of like the set bonus giving 5 separate snakes. Speaking of the set, is Will not wearing it right now? Apparently not since he seems to only have one hand not five snakes.

McIntosh Ewell

Ooh, a never defeated Raid Boss? I bet that'll make a tasty sacrifice. Especially for Brianna! Imagine if she could be further empowered by her spin-offs. I bet Loth could benefit as well

Tom C

Ah yeah another raid boss! This one is gonna be an epic sacrifice I think TFTC

Daemion

Now he just has to figure out how to trigger this raid boss to "spawn". Because right now it has no reason to reveal itself, it can simply feed on everything through its worms.

RedInkQuill

Attrition is native to the terrain of the desert and flows through it as easily as water through sand.
