Noodlin and Doodlin and Lots of Words
🕑 Added 2015-12-02 13:27:29 +0000 UTC So, I suppose an update is in order. I've been rather quiet. I've been enjoying a quiet life, as ever. I hardly get out much, but why would I. The tiny town I live in Ohio is quite... Dreary, let's say. The most exotic food served here is Americanized Chinese.I'm not sure if you follow me on tumblr or twitter, but I've enjoyed way too much Fallout 4, Undertale, and Metal Gear V. That's certainly hit me in the productivity. If you must know, my Game of the Year is easily Undertale, but I'll spare you the details. You probably already heard enough about the game and have a strong, definite opinion on it, too! (I def understand how it can be annoying)
As for my craft, as pornographic as it can be, I am often wondering how I can improve and I think I know how I can do that:

I've always been doing some lightweight, unscientific research and have concluded that people just want content and more of it. The quality is of concern, too, but when I photobomb people with pop questions, the level of quality people are willing to accept is.. Definitely something that I can convince myself to embrace.
I get too precious and anxious about my work, I get too stressed, and I can give great work without killing myself, and along the way, make more people happy, and that's what it's about really..
Just.. Y'know.. Having more fun. More often.
So yeah, it's an exciting time and I'm still fighting with my own negative voices, keeping up the momentum and the joy in my work. Part of that is finding out what other people like and staying current.
To that end... please reply! Is there something that concerns you? And you can do so privately through direct messages instead of through this post...

It is difficult. I mean, It's a huge struggle for me, and for every artist I know. I feel like I'm pretty productive, but I probably spend 1 hour just screwing around online for every 2 hours I'm drawing. I've had to get into the habit of drawing 8+ hours every day no matter what. And now that it's a habit I get a lot more done. But it's always a struggle. but I also ALWAYS feel better about my day if I spend a majority of it drawing. Whatever you end up doing, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Cutting out distractions is incredibly difficult for me, more than I thought it would be, especially with social media and instant messaging programs.

I'd absolutely love to see a larger quantity of work from you, but I think you should work at whatever pace you're comfortable with. That said, I do know that (at least for me) making sure I have time to work each day and forcing myself to work during that time has gone a long way toward increasing my output. I also find that I'm happier when I put aside distractions and focus on drawing. I guess what I'm saying is that I think you should try to get comfortable with being more productive, and that I hope in the long run that being more productive will make you happier.

Well you obviously still can go to greater details and lengths on a picture when you feel like the idea/picture warrants it. :3

Yea, that's definitely why I'm worried about speed. I am often turning people away to other artists because I can't take on the work short-term.

Part of the pressure does absolutely stem from the fact that my primary income is still from commission work. I do have to work by volume, so yeah. Still trying to find that happy balance.

No, I get it completely, and it's true, that is part of why certain artists can crank them out quickly. And if you want porn to become a money source, yea, you'd definitely have to. But I also want you to do what you do, no pressure.

I've liked what you are doing. I've had no complains as the detail and the lines have always been my draw, and that takes time. Long as you stay at it, knowing more might be coming faster makes me smile. Tho if lacking ideas and such why not offer a think tank of sorts like this one. or just bomb random patrons with a doodle?

Arrite! Don't worry. I won't reduce details down too much, but there will probably be less umn.. Noodling and fluff. I'll still communicate machinery and hydraulics and such, but maybe not to such an exacting, strenuous degree... If that makes sense?

The level of detail is part of what draws me in. So while I like more art, I also like YOUR art.

Got it! Definitely go faster and a bit sloppier but embrace that the idea is more important than pretending everything must be perfection the likes only seen in Greek sculpture.

Thank you for giving us the update on things. :3 My age old complaint is there not being enough sketches posted but that does seem to be on your agenda now so I'm more than happy! Those old doodle comics/sequences were great fun too but those would definitely be something more at end of your endeavours on getting faster at arts.

On the plus side, I am starting to get back to some of my roots with like.. Some of the recent things I've posted to Weasyl with things like hose-based inflation and lots of breast expansion / futa expansion.. But.. Did you have something more specific in mind?
As someone who came to Snao after completely enjoying TehSean, I cast my vote for "Snao isn't drawing the porn I like anymore" along with "Snao's not doing enough art in general".
