to first paragraph: true! they can basically be used for any information generation task. to your second paragraph: true for now. eventually there will be better observation commands. vision, descriptions of blocks/locations, etc.

LLMs are great at digital architecture partly because of low-level representation. Structures can always be represented by number systems as small as binary, although LLMs are not often trained in base 2. You could theoretically have them generate concepts like dance routines, taking turns in connect 4, etc. While these are great, they’re pretty open-ended. They don’t really involve a combination of world-observation steps AND generation steps; just the latter. You should differentiate these two tasks because an AI drawing a picture that’s then mapped into Minecraft is much different than understanding the Minecraft world in context of what is being created.

I love your definition of creativity! You could define “imaginative” as the process by which creativity arises, while keeping “creativity” specific to the output. An output is creative if it is new and valuable, but it’s only imaginative if the sources are more nuanced or diverse.
