Juno says, "This… this should not be impossible," when Dumbledore conjures his wandless mini phoenix patronus. That should be "possible," instead, I believe. Also, the comma at the end there is incorrect (should be a period), since the sentence is followed by an action rather than a speaking verb.

That is an interesting theory, alittle out of the box but it fits somewhat, but why would they be scared after he left then and not while he was amoung them?

Maybe just a sudden missing kid promoted an investigation which upset the Durselys perfect life and social reputation. My last guess is the 'horocrux instigated the abuse' fanon and after the blood wards fell the shock of their actions and the pervasiveness of dark magic shook them. The Durselys were originally intended to be cartoonish in their abusive behavior (same with Snape) but the series evolved and their actions looked worse then jk likely originally intended. So having some strange magical reason for that behavior would fill some hole

I went back and read the chapter where he first woke up, and the Dursleys seemed to act and treat Harry very similar to canon Harry. So it has to be something that’s happened since Harry left the house.

I do like that Dumbledore didn't read their minds even though it would give him the answer to one of his thousands of questions. Shows that he has a moral code that he tries his hardest to stick to, and makes him much more interesting in this story than other stories that paint him in a less than perfect light. He's just a dude at the end of the day trying his best... mans got it tough.
