Good chapters. Very enjoyable. Cersei’s metabolism is finally fading with age. Though her insanity induced confidence is still on full display. Myrcella has figured out that the North is the best place to be, despite the harsh environment. Considering how well traveled she is, that’s a fairly well educated opinion. The games she and the Northerners play with the Lannister knight are hilarious. Sarella comes across as smart and solid. I always enjoyed what little we knew of her in canon - what’s not to like about a daring bookworm - and one the highlights of this story is her inclusion. Arrianne, Nymeria, etc., no so much. Aegon may be a Blackfyre, but he comes across as competent and well meaning [even if entitled]. The Kingdoms could do worse than have him for a king. Genna Lannister’s POV was excellent. She was always the most sensible Lannister. Too bad her sensibility wasn’t enough to keep her branch of the family alive. Littlefinger getting his comeuppance was karma. His instincts were spot on but he was slow to react. Probably the result of arrogance. He’d gotten away with so much he’s obviously the smartest person around. Until it bit him in the arse. Manderly is a schemer but a loyal one. Ned should have married Robb off to one of his granddaughters. He’d probably still be alive. Jon-Harry’s reasoning for not using magic to improve the North is solid, but short sighted. Dependence is not necessarily the end result of a helping hand, as opposed to a handout. He could arrange for more glasshouses. He could pull a Ned-Harry from ChelleyPam’s story and locate mineral deposits [though considering it’s deep winter, that would be of limited utility]. Using a ritual/spell to improve the fertility of animals is a good idea. Magic to help wall of Wintertown would serve as a windbreak and maybe mean that the cold is less biting [though still dangerous]. Repair the ruins in Winterfell, which creates more usable space. All of these means more people live, but they still have to work to survive. Constantly prepping for war is necessary under the circumstances, but people need to be able see beyond that so they have hope. Then again, Jon-Harry will be very long lived [if his magic protects him from age like a Harry Potter wizard] so there is time. Plenty of time to improve things around the margins.
