Chapter 4 of Broken Dreams is out for Squires!
🕑 Added 2025-07-21 20:46:22 +0000 UTCA bit late, but rather sizeable chapter. The plot thickens, Jon enters relevancy, and we see more shades of a dysfunctional royal family. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

"impertinence" rather than "impunity"

Hmm. One protagonist helpless and imprisoned and the other lost and confused. I'll work through the current chapters for sure, but nothing has really appealed to me in this one so far. This story arc to me would be more interesting outside of the beginning of a new story. I'm definitely a reader who prefers a grounded start to a setting - I gave up Ancillary Justice as an overrated, overly convoluted book 200 pages in when I still didnt know what the heck was going on. I mean, I do at least know what is happening here, but I feel adrift as a reader. I dont feel drawn or attached to a character, or a cause, or even an interesting what-if in the setting.

Damnit! Why does it have to be over?

It’s one of those things that’s fairly hinted at in the books, but not outright stated

Wait wait... wait. Did you just say that Bloodraven was responsible for Euron 'I want to murderfuck an eldritch abomination into existence' Greyjoy? If so... I got to say, the house of the dragon has a history of some easily avoidable fuck ups, but this one probably takes the god damn cake.
