If this is how his "legend" starts with an easy win over bandits, introducing his giant wolf he "controls" and getting blackfish and Arthur Dayne he whole legend in 30-50 years wild be just as insane and impressive as bloodraven .

Brynden seeking out Jon makes sense both as a way to blood himself if he knows the Tully's will limit him in the war effort and of course the allure of being part of a new Ravens Teeth. Now Arthur getting dropped into Jon's lap out is very convenient. I get the appeal and it does reinforce the idea that even the best still had to put the work in to draw out that potential.

Thank you, and wow, Jon got some very famous people in his band. I do like how he got some of the Kingwood's Brotherhood with him. Plus a few of the Raventeeth, too.
