i don’t know if there’s a name for this trope but i love it: when characters have a back story of violence and trauma that obliges them to develop surviving strategies which at the same time tie them to loneliness and their own fears. But at some point someone arrives in their lives and they realize they don’t need to be strong all the time, that they can let people in. And this feeling is scary af because they fear their own reaction to those new feelings that will come, cause they will, no matter how hard they try to control them. They just have to admit to themselves that it’s okay to be vulnerable, to be scared, because now they are not alone anymore and if they’ll break down someone who loves them will take care of their wounded soul🥹💙
