"Why would someone want to live alone in the Mountains?" I honestly can't think of anything better haha.

While I agree that Tombstone is a far better movie, The idea that Ex Machina is the same as Frankenstein is a very shallow perspective to harbor. It's only slightly similar to Frankenstein in that there is a Machine or a Monster. That's it. Frankenstein's monster was a reassembly, not a creation. It wasn't programmed by a human being as a computer or simulated intelligence is. There was no test to prove that the monster was reanimated as it was there for everyone to see when it walked and moved on it's own power. Ex Machina dealt with far deeper issues.

No, it's not basically Frankenstein. That's a very shallow perspective to harbor. It's only slightly similar to Frankenstein in that there is a Machine or a Monster. That's it. Frankenstein's monster was a reassembly, not a creation. It wasn't programmed by a human being as a computer or simulated intelligence is. Having a degree and a career in graphic arts which includes specialization in color correction, I can tell you that, depending on whether we're talking about light or pigment, black is either the lack or the combination of ALL colors. Black in pigment is the combination of all colors and with light, black is the lack of any color at all. The exact opposite is true for white.
Andrew Zachman
It's basically Frankenstein.
Redline
This was a nice movie to watch, thought provoking on some levels, good visuals that were not overly done and a simple but twisted plot.

Alex Garland is the writer/director who has done brilliant movie called Annihilation (2018), hopefully one day we can do that here if Biss hasn't seen it already.

Nathan Hamlet Bateman is played by actor Osacr Isaac's. He also played Duke Leto Atreides in Dune (2021).
Michael Aalgaard
If you have seen Frankenstein(1931) then you have seen exmachinas. The script was poor and completely predictable with a weak ending. Me giving this movie a 2 was being generous I stopped the movie 4 times due to boredom. This movie better then the real life event of tombstone? Keep dreaming lol
pedantech
I give this movie a solid 5. Way better than Tombstone.
Henkan
The final episode of Devs still gives me a weird mix of goosebumps/awe/satisfaction/pondering :) Such a shame it hasn't gained much traction!
Robert C
Excellent point! Devs is amazing.
Henkan
Annihilation is fantastic, but Garland's masterwork is Devs, in my opinion - I think that his writing and directing style gains a ton more strength from the added runtime in a miniseries.
Michael Aalgaard
I give this movie a solid 2. Tombstone would of been so much better.
Michael Aalgaard
I know exactly what she is saying and black and white are a color And this nonsense that they are not a color is what it is nonsense.
Fish
"Ghostbuster !" 😂
Robert C
I think she is referring to this. https://www.britannica.com/story/are-black-and-white-colors

Next I'm going to push for Annihilation. It's another Alex Garland film out of A24. Love this director.
Michael Aalgaard
If black wasn't a color it wouldn't have a name or even exist. Black is a color of the most extreme the exact opposite of white.
Andrew Zachman
So is she just going to hang out at a street intersection, and not recharge? Which begs for question, where does she plug in? How come the helicopter pilot didnt ask what happened to the dude i dropped off? I give it 2.5 stars. And yes it is pronounced the first way you said it Biss.
Robert C
Finally! I’m dropping everything to watch. I love this movie
Essero Eson
In case no one told you yet, the first way you pronounced it is the way we say it in the United States. (Ex Mok-EE-Nah)
