I love this movie, and as I just subscribed this was one of the first movies I searched. To see if you had reacted on this :D Sorry, to see it was not your kind of movie, and I expected this based on your other reactions. With movies, that I would say is you have to be open minded, like the chick flick theme, along with a director style of longshots and dialouge heavy(yeah dialogue, as in the actors expres much in behaviour and expressions xD ) Anyway, I think the reaction job you do, and your chain of thought gave you a bad start to watch this :) I discovered this movie on Netflix about three years ago. I saw Brad Pitt, and this looked like a Drama wich I like. And was pleased by the familiar 90s movies acting, beautiful music and a story that despite its shallow theme. Actually has alot of deeper dive into human relations and the depiction of a spirit. Death in this case, that have looked from afar from his POV. How human are, but when he becomes a human. He also behave like a child, but in the end comes to understand why "gods" envy humans. All packed into a romance drama, with a supersticious part to have fun with :)

She knew he was death. Like with the woman in hospital when she was scared and in pain he touched her and showed her the other side and she stopped being afraid. At the end he touched her and showed her what he was and that caused her to become scared. Lets be honest we all would be. Then with him saying he's leaving and the way her dad spoke to her, she knew her father was going to die, hence the tears. I actually rather like this film. A little over the top and longer than it needed to be but the premise is strong.

I do not believe that I have laughed so much at someone reaction as I did to your reaction to this movie. It was more enjoyable watching your disapproval then watching the movie.

Now I have seen the first 5 minutes and last five minutes of Joe Black, I did not need to see the middle, thank you.

I think Biss' assessment is spot on. The idea is interesting. The execution was horrible. The ending was something even worse than that. Not disappointed that I watched it, though. The idea was interesting enough to watch it through at least once. Actually, I admired Anthony Hopkins' role A LOT, as unlikely as it would be in real life though honestly, my current boss is kinda like him. Reminds me how lucky I am right now...

He's better in Legend of the Fall, his best role he ever played.

A much better movie? In what sense? And this movie was a flop at the box office netting not even half of itβs budget. Iβm just going to take a gander and say this version of whatever previous movie you mentioned is better because it has only gotten more popular with time, to the degree of it becoming such a cult classic that a girl from Romania is reacting to it

The movie is ok but way too long for me to ever watch againπ

This movie is a remake of the 1934 movie Death Takes A Holiday. A much better movie by the way. The only reason it did well at the box office is because it featured a trailer for the new Star Wars movie The Phantom Menace. A lot of people bought a ticket to watch the trailer then left without watching the movie! I an very curious to see Biss' take on this one.
