Watch Blood Diamond, One of Leo's best movies. Underrated.

the song is Shipping Up to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys

It may be because in Departed and Interstellar he plays assholes, but I really dont find Matt Damon attractive at all. Leo on the otherhand is handsome, funny and a top notch actor.
James Evanko
Of those two, Jack Nicholson was my favorite.

Charles can also be Chuck. John can be Johnny. Debra can be Debbie or Deb. Nicholas can be Nick or Nicky. I can be Jimbo, Jambo, Jimbobway, Jimmy the Rat, Kiwi. :-)

Like Bob and Robert.

Great movie/reaction! I gotta go team Leo on this one. Here is a live version of the movie music by Dropkick Murphys that slaps https://youtu.be/K0GIaDAc0T0 (played in Boston). PS mentioned in the movie was Notre Dame which in this context refers to the Catholic University in Indiana of the same name. Motto and mascot βHome of the Fighting Irishβ. <3
Biss Reactions
haha you did great <3 Thank you for being here

Another phrase you wondered about. No tickee, no laundry. It's making fun of Asians whom ran laundry services and had an accent. no tickee, (the ticket number for your clothes), no laundry. I personally preferred Leo in this one. Just such a more dynamic character.

catch me if you can movie starring leo and tom hanks based on true story you will love it. As for this movie Leo has the better role imo. Leo is the better actor but dont get me wrong Matt is also great. Hopefully you will react to the first Bourne trilogy with Matt Damon as Jason Bourne.
Graeme Miller
p.s. this doc doesn't disrupt the idea of going into a movie blind. Its just kind of beautiful to hear the passion for cinema straight from the maestro.

I'm sure you have no time for homework but I would still suggest: A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese through American Movies I watch it on a library app but its prolly on youtube. Kind of lucky to have a master just chat about this stuff. Made about 10 years before departed.

the moment i saw matt damon i realized that i actually know the movie, i loooooove this movie π

I know lol. My least favorite is Henry=Harry. The Kennedy brothers always remind me of the weirdness, because they're often called by their nicknames: John F. Kennedy(JFK)=Jack Kennedy; Robert F. Kennedy=Bobby Kennedy; Edward M. Kennedy=Ted Kennedy. Btw, Frank Costello is talking about JFK at the start of the movie when he mentions Irish people getting the US presidency (and says 'rest in peace' since JFK was assassinated).

hahaha omg but why ?? haha why John = Jack makes no damn sense hahahha

Leo or Matt? No contest, Marky Mark. He killed the bad guy. How is he not the hero? Plus he ended up with the girl; how else did he have the key?

I liked how you mentioned very early on that this reminded you of Goodfellas, because it is indeed the same director. Good catch there. Leonardo was my favorite performance in this, with Jack Nicholson running a close second, Alec Baldwin third, Mark Wahlberg fourth, and Matt Damon fifth actually. Also, the name "Bill" is short for "William". In the same way, some people refer to me as "Bob" when my true name is "Robert". It's like an officially recognized shortform of the full name. Very fun reaction though Biss, thank you much :)

Glad you enjoyed the dialogue as much as I do, Biss. I think you have a very Boston sense of humor haha. My favorite character is Sgt. Dignam (the asshole), who is the most fun to watch and has the best lines. Oh, and the song is 'Shipping Up to Boston' by the Dropkick Murphys. But for Bill(Leo) vs. Colin(Matt): I agree with you on Bill(Leo). The parts where he's stressed out were more expressive than Colin's, although to be fair Colin's implied sexual impotence takes away Matt's opportunity to express that on-screen. Both strong characters and performances, though.

I'll join in the BissVocab lesson! 1. IRA: Irish Republican Army - Frank Costello was saying the guy at the bar was dressed like an overly stereotypical Irish immigrant (They also mention another IRA (Individual Retirement Account) later in the movie.) 2. Guinea: derogatory slang for Italian-Americans - Other synonyms include 'wop', 'greaser', 'goomba', etc... (Slang for Irish-Americans are 'paddy', 'mick', etc...) 3. English name shortenings: (there are so many weird ones) - William= Will, Bill, Willy, Billy - Francis= Frank, Frankie - Richard= Dick, Dicky, Rich, Richie - Robert= Bob, Bobby, Rob, Robbie - James= Jim, Jimmy - Charles= Charlie - Edward= Ted, Teddy, Ed, Eddy - Henry= Harry - Michael= Mike, Mikey - Albert= Al, Bert, Bernie - John= Jack - Lawrence/Laurence= Larry - And so many other weird ones Hope these help!

This was directed by Martin Scorsese, who also directed Goodfellas

Loved your reaction to this film. I have only seen bits and pieces before, never the full movie. Enjoyed it. This is the song you asked about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw

Very nice!

The music is done by Dropkick Murphys. Check out the State of Massachusetts, and the one you liked I'm shipping up to Boston. I'm going to have to agree with you on both team Leo and that 5 out of 5. Going to have to watch the Aviator and Wolf of Wall Street soon to continue on your Scorsese journey. Have fun.

I would have to go with Leo's character
