Jack Black has stated the speech he give to Tomika about body positivity is his proudest moment in his entire acting career. Both actors to this day have said they have fans come up to them and say how important and inspirational that scene is.

Biss, some fun fact about this movie, and unfortunately one not so fun. First the actor how played Ned, the real Ned, actually wrote the movie. Next a few of the kids have gone one to be professional musicians, the costume designer is a country music singer. Tomika, the girl who was scared to sing is now an R&B singer. The girl who played bass, is also now a professional musician. Two of the kids, Marta, one of the singers and Frankie, a roadie, actually met up years later and are now married! Spider, the guy with the chest tattoos and low cut pants is now District Attorney. And finally the one bad thing, Freddy, the drummer, did become a great drummer. Unfortunately in 2021 he was killed in an accident while riding his bicycle in Chicago.
