Either way it's going to be a real challenge, feathers or dragon scales, it's all gonna be a pain. x3 But it would be nice to have some four legged critter to mess with, so I should suffer through it sooner or later, heh.

Once I get her all finished, I might show 'em off a bit! Though I have to admit it's still not an area I'm super strong at modelling so I can't promise it'll look amazing. :P

If I make a dragon I probably just won't give it wings, tons of dragony things don't have wings, and I think I like 'em better that way anyway. It'd be a bit harder to avoid with a gryphon... might be a good challenge though. I don't think it's insurmountable.

Personally I'd prefer a gryphon. Aren't the feathers going to be 'hairs' for animation purposes? Not sure bat wings would be easier or require less animation to look good.

I think her update looks good! Definitely more emotion in her features and less 'fantasy' proportions, meaning that her body style looks more like something you'd see everyday rather than just in fiction. I'm definitely loving the different length/density of fur over different areas, too! As for a feral character, I'd be behind that idea 100%! As for the choice between a dragon and a gryphon, I'd say both have great merit but that I've felt that from watching previous animators try their hand at scaled characters, the materials seem harder to master. Shiny skins need very well done models since there's no fur or additional way to blur any mistakes or wonkiness. Gryphons obviously can have a bit of that but dragons tend to have a lot more, though you could always opt for a furred dragon of some sort, or blend the two. I think gryphon would have more difficult wings, with all the feathers, than something membrane-based. Dragon would probably be my suggestion, though, if only because I'd love to see how you would tackle it :)

Damn, she's gorgeous, beautiful work! :D The choice between Gryphon and dragon is rough, but dragon wins out simply because 3d modeling feather would probs be a nightmare.

I really like the diamond arrow things on her lower stomach. As for the feral thing, you probably want to do something that doesn't have wings, as that sounds even more difficult to rig up. That would most likely put gryphon out of the running. Poll time? :3
