January Animation - Sneak Peek!
🕑 Added 2022-01-23 04:26:48 +0000 UTCBeen working away at the animation for the last few days, and just sent it off to render. This month's winner: "Grand museum reopening for the New Year, Nidhala needs to have her newest machine inspected by Runofur, only he asks her to try it out." Thought I'd give a little sneak peek at some of an early frame of animation: Nidhala about to reveal her latest creation. Also there are some pictures used in the background, and while they're not particularly artistic since you never get a good look at them in the animation, I still figured you all might wanna take a look. You can see one of them at work in the screen shot...
Anyway, looks like this one will be done in 2-3 days depending on how many issues I have with rendering. Keep an eye out!

Nidhala has always been my favorite (excluding the dragon)

This one took about four days, at about 12 hours each day on average.

How long do you spend working on an animation?

God, I wish that were me

Keep in mind: I'm basically cheating. It's easy for me because I'm doing it wrong and badly, it's just not -so- wrong and -so- bad that I've quite been tempted to give doing it properly another go. x3

Hah, I love how Runo is so considerate, with his towel! At least, for now ;3 Excited for this one, sounds like a lot of fun is in store!

Ru: Oh yeah rendering animated wings is easy Every other animator: Has a mental breakdown just imagining the task You're incredibly talented, you know that? :P

Oh boy! Always fun to see a new... exhibit.

Oh, did you ask somewhere before? I'm sorry if I missed it! Yup, all my models and everything seen in this animation is made by me. The bird wings are pretty simple, they're just a bunch of 2D planes, one for each feather, with a feather texture on them and some playing around with alpha to make them more of a feathery shape. The character's armature actually controls just a separate simple plane that covers the overall wing shape, and all the feathers are controlled with that via a surface deform modifier. I've found this considerably easier to rig and animate than trying to give each feather it's own unique bone. It has it's disadvantages, the wings don't "fold" close so much as... "squish" closed if you rig it this way, but it's so much easier to rig and animate that I feel like it's a worthy sacrifice.

Definitely need to have a rainbow of them eventually xD

That colour does look pretty good on him for some reason! Honestly I went with blue just to separate it a bit from the green and red kobolds we've seen in the past, but I like it. :P
Dakgnol
Oh I love the blue kobold!
