A short info: This will probably be the last chapter for the next week or so, as I am currently fully comitted to The Phoenix, though worry not, as I plan to return to this story afterwards and stay with it for awhile.
There are only a few more steps in the plot, before we get some action and meet some more MCU characters. For one there will be a POV from the Phoenix, as some of you seem to enjoy those and are curious to know her thoughts.
Followed by a Frost family meeting, where Elijah finally meets Christian and Cordelia, and another power-up. A bit Slice of Life will be there too, and that's basically it, before the actual plot starts.

Chapter 054 – Peak Human
[2009 – June]
It was another few days later when I decided to use Self-Creation again after checking my reserves and thinking about my plans.
Thanks to my Peak Human Mind, I had become incredibly proficient with my shields in the last few days, alongside learning French, Chinese and Russian, while also finding time to train my physical body every day.
Jean had also begun to take down the mental blocks by herself with a bit of Emma's help, while using what she was being taught to build up some real defenses for her mind that other telepaths wouldn't be able to penetrate.
She had not yet managed to connect fully with the Phoenix, but I could almost sense her fire becoming stronger with each day, while her control was similarly growing.
I had also realized that I had to spend less time in the gym, simply because it wasn't the efficient thing to do as Jean was only all too happy to help me build up my reserves and I had to speed up my growth. Especially when it come to fighting techniques and martial arts, as I knew nothing about those.
Using my enhanced mental capabilities, I readjusted my plans for my future power-ups, while taking into account what I had learned from the intelligence that Emma had given me access to.
After looking through it all, I now had a more accurate understanding of the kind of adversaries I might have to prepare for, most notably amongst them being Hydra, The Ten Rings, and Trask Enterprises.
There were several other figures I took note of, but as far as organizations went these seemed to be the most dangerous.
I did however read the name of Rand Enterprises in the section about the businesses the Hellfire Club saw as potential members or obstacles to remove, which made me believe that the Hand was probably a thing here too.
The conclusion though was simple as I realized that this Universe was rather similar to the MCU, which was most certainly a good thing. Though with the addition of the mutants, this world was still incredibly chaotic.
I didn't know if Apocalypse was real, but he was definitely someone I didn't want to face off anytime soon. Along with the constant threat of a race war breaking out looming just beyond the horizon, as the intelligence suggested that Trask Enterprises seemed to have developed a lot of anti-mutant weaponry, including the Sentinels.
The Hellfire files on that were rather vague, proving the security of the company to be rather great, but I didn't need any in-depth explanation about the Sentinels, knowing full well what they were capable of.
Still, the more mystical threats weren't mentioned of course, but I didn't expect them to be either. So there were still a lot of unknown factors at play, especially with the timeline being all mixed-up.
What I did know was that in a few years Loki would most likely bring an army of Chitauri to Earth and that Thanos would surely go on a hunt for the Infinity Stones, which were events I definitely had to intervene in, as I was still Earth-bound for now and did not plan to let the madman collect all six stones.
For that, I needed some more power and so I decided to forgo regular training for now in favour of learning martial arts and further my skill with my barriers, while slowly expanding my arsenal of abilities to complement my fighting style and ensure my survivability.
Jean was also very willing to provide me with some fire as long as I 'worked' for it.
Right now my reserves were filled up to a sizable amount, which would allow me to grant myself a Beta-level ability easily. And I had already chosen my new power to be Peak Human Body.
It was the bodily equivalent to my Peak Human Mind and would give me a physique greater than every normal human alive.
And not only that, but I would also gain peak talent for anything involving the physical body, including martial arts and other activities. Something I definitely needed if I wanted to avoid spending years on mastering a single combat style.
The enhanced physical attributes would also help with other future powers.
It was basically the last piece to lay down a solid foundation for rapid progress, granting me the complete Peak Human Condition.
Laying down naked in the bathtub, I focused on the ability I wanted to obtain.
Jean was currently being taught by Emma, so I had the apartment for myself and wouldn't be disturbed during the process.
Inputting the details of what I wanted into the process, I activated Self-Creation. And even though I expected the pain, I wasn't really prepared for the force it hit me with, as my whole consciousness was practically drowned by the agony that suddenly filled every fiber of my being.
Moments later, I fainted.

The all too familiar phantom pain still causing my body to tremble, I slowly woke up.
My mind still trying to process the pain, I looked over my body. Seeing peeled off skin, blood, and sweat covering my form, I was relieved that Jean hadn't been here, or she might have been unnecessarily worried.
Turning on the water, I thoroughly cleaned myself and the tub, as I discovered the changes in my physical form.
It wasn't just the incredible power I felt my muscles containing, but I also realised that I had grown a few centimeters while my musculature had become incredibly well defined. Curiously, my rather sizeable manhood had also gained a bit of length and additional girth.
Drying off with a towel, I looked myself over in the mirror.
Muscles wrapped around my perfect bone structure as if they were steel cords, with my frame having become a bit bulkier without losing its agile grace.
I, well and truly, had received a perfectly-balanced, peak human physique.
A towel wrapped around my waist, I walked into the bedroom just as I heard Jean approach the entrance door and open it a few moments later.
I didn't even know how but I recognized her through her breathing pattern and the sound of her steps, my senses having been dialed to eleven.
“I'm back, Elijah. You there?”, Jean called out as she stepped through the door.
“Hey. I'm in the bedroom.”, I replied loudly, my voice sounding half-an octave deeper.
Throwing on a pair of shorts and picking an oversized hoodie, I was just about to slip into it when Jean appeared in the bedroom, freezing the moment she saw me.
“Wha … “
Her sentence was left unfinished, her jaw dropped and her eyes widened while looking at my shirtless form.

Jean would have found all of these words fitting when describing Elijah before. And she wouldn't have had a problem with adding some more exaggerating adjectives, as her feelings for him may have influenced her choice of words.

Rock-hard muscles wound around his form in an incredible display of explosive strength and graceful splendor, looking as if they had been carved by a master sculptor – a depiction of unearthly beauty.
His whole form exuded an irresistible and dangerous charm.
And as he suddenly smiled at her while slowly stalking towards her, a tingling sensation ran down her spine, his charming aura turning into something unbearably sensual and predatory.

Yeah, I paused this story for a few weeks, but I am going to release some chapters for it soon. I was just held up by The Phoenix.
Ahh when I found this on webnovel with only 8 chapters, I was so happy to find so many more chapters on your patreon. Thanks for the great story so far.
Hard to tell, but I think I will spend another week or two with The Phoenix, before going back to it and from then on it will probably be at least a chapter a day again. Though that's just my current plan, can't really guarantee anything.
