Panting only slightly, my gaze was focused on Jean who had yet to recover from her climax, her soft lips being slightly parted as she breathed heavily, small moans and pants escaping her lips. Her eyes were still closed while her flaming hair was spread around her head wildly.
She looked indescribably beautiful at this moment, her small frame still trembling ever so slightly due to the pleasure that she had just received.
Her eyelids fluttered open slowly, a vulnerable and loving look in her soft green eyes while the leglock around my waist was loosened slightly, even though she still held me close. Her hands which had still been buried in my dark hair, moved as she let go of my black locks and instead lightly caressed my cheeks, the look in her eyes one of tenderness and belonging.
Her lips suddenly drew a gentle curve as she raised her head and placed a soft kiss on my lips.
“I love you too.”, she whispered after breaking the kiss, her breath caressing my lips, eyes shining with love.
I didn't even try to resist the desire that reignited the blood in my veins that had just started to calm down slightly, her words awakening an irresistible urge to make her mine, again and again, to see her writhe and tremble in pleasure while she lay in my embrace.

A thin sheen of sweat covering her heated skin, her bare chest rose and fell in an enticing rhythm as Jean looked up at me with hazy eyes, our bodies still joined intimately.
Slowly turning around and resting on my back, I took Jean with me, my arms wrapped around her waist and upper back.
My lovely redhead didn't resist, too exhausted from the last few hours of lovemaking. Instead, she snuggled up to me as best as she could, a look of deep content and incredible comfort on her face.
She looked like a lazy cat as she moved deeper into my embrace while placing a few light kisses on my chest, her fingers drawing fine circles on the bare skin of my chest.
Her breathing slowly got more even and I could feel her heartbeat slow down and become steadier as she rested on top of me, my hands brushing gently over her bare back and sides as she did so.
And while my attention was naturally focused on the beautiful and very naked redhead in my embrace, part of it couldn't help but be drawn inwards as I felt my energy reserves reach a critical point and finally advance beyond the Alpha-level and reach the Omega-level.
I had known that this would happen soon but the last few hours that I had spent with Jean, had sped up the progress quite a bit, and I couldn't help the excitement and relief that welled up inside my heart as I noticed this.
'Finally … ', I sighed to myself, my eyes shining with a bright, yet dark light.
I knew that nothing would be the same after I granted myself the Omega-level ability that I had been thinking about for weeks. With it, I could finally set in motion my plan to increase my power to a level where I could tear apart the likes of Apocalypse.
Pushing aside these thoughts for the moment, I sat up and left the bed with Jean in my arms. I carried her into the bathroom, one of my arms holding her up by her backside while the other continued to brush through her soft, slightly damp hair, and caressed her slender back.
All the while we stayed connected, her lower lips enveloping my shaft in their warm and tight embrace.
Using my barrier to turn the faucet, I tested the water temperature with my fingers before stepping under the warm stream, causing the lovely redhead in my arms to hum in comfort.
I was about to set her down but a whisper of hers stopped me, her head resting on my shoulder as she left a heated kiss on the skin of my neck, combing through my dark locks with her slender fingers.
"No … Let's stay connected for a little while longer, please … ", she said under her breath, her words barely audible under the water stream that washed over us.
I didn't reply but I followed her wish and continued to support her weight with my arm, leaving a soft kiss on her pale shoulder. My other hand started to softly knead the stiff muscles on her back and shoulders, causing her to moan and sigh continuously, losing all strength while in my embrace.
Finally, a few long minutes later, Jean allowed me to put her down and withdraw from her insides, though she stayed glued to me.
Using my barrier, I summoned a bottle of shampoo to my hands and gently rubbed it into her skin before taking hold of a different one to wash her hair. Her own hands didn't stay idle either as she did as I did, her soft hands caressing my skin as she rubbed in the lotion while leaving kisses on my chest and arms, all the while.
Jean's eyes lit up with tender joy as I couldn't help but moan and sigh in comfort while she massaged my scalp with her slender fingers, her movements gentle and loving.
Leaving the shower after letting the water carry away the last residues of the different shampoos, we dried off each other before Jean simply drew on her inner fire to dry her flaming locks.
What followed was her brushing my dark hair while I sat on a small stool. She left kisses on my shoulders and neck as she did so, before finally combing through my hair with her fingers as she once again used her inner fire, this time to dry my black locks.
Getting dressed together in some comfortable clothes, it was at this point that Jean checked her phone and found a veritable flood of texts from Yukio and Ellie that basically ordered her to put on the news.
Hurriedly rushing into the living room, she did exactly that, though at this point Peter's and Connor's little fight had already come to an end.
She looked more than a little shocked as she listened to the reporter recounting the events of the last few hours.
“Is Peter alright?”, she asked while sitting in my lap, turning back to me with worried eyes.
“He is fine. The barrier that I left with him did not activate itself, so his life was not in danger.”, I replied, my eyes glowing white for a short moment, “He is a bit bruised but nothing serious. Plus, he seems to have some kind of healing factor.”
Breathing a sigh of relief, Jean leaned back against my chest as she continued to listen to the news, seemingly shaken at the announcement of Captain George Stacy's death that was reported a few minutes later.
“T-This … This is Gwen's father … “, she whispered in shock, her voice barely audible. I didn't say anything and just wrapped my arms around her, comforting her as I sighed quietly.
I had known that this would happen but like Ben Parker, the Captain had made his choice. And while I did admire him for his courage to go against Connors in his lizard form, his life and death had been his own responsibility.

Can't really argue with that. Thank you for mentioning it, I will make sure to keep an eye on that and try to avoid it as much as possible.

The only thing I'll say is that you should dial back the shear number of romance moments or Elijah waxing poetically about Jean. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and the opposite is true. Most people cannot keep eating the same thing everyday, even if it is their favorite meal. One of our main drives is curiosity, and as much as stability as routine offers it also dulls our senses, eventually that meal that used to be your favorite is just another meal out of several because you normalized it instead of cherishing it and saving it for proper occasions or as a 'surprise' to yourself. You are slowly doing the same to this novel, it might not be noticeable right now, but eventually you will lose readers who get tired of you filling space with fluff or filler. Not every chapter has to be action or plot progression, but the opposite is just as true and not every chapter in between has to be sexually or romantically leaning. Please, for the long term health of your book, think of other 'slice of life' type chapters that aren't the MC's rubbing against each other in all the same ways but with different flowery words this time...
It's rather simple actually. You will see.
