SNW is good. Skip Discovery and Section 31. Lower Decks gets good reviews but I can't get into cartoons.

Strange New Worlds is pretty good. Captain is charismatic and storylines are decent. Lower Decks is just fun cartoon fun. And the crossover episode between these two shows is pure genius.

@Joe What doomed Beyond was not just the big budget, but the fan reception towards Into Darkness, especially with some of the plot holes. Plus, the teaser trailer for Beyond didn’t help (Even George Takei thought it made the movie look like a generic action movie). I remember not seeing movie posters for the Beyond until a month before it came out. I did had a feeling it was going to bomb.

The only really shocking part of this reaction is that Cassie didn't know Huey Lewis and the news. I realize they're mostly an 80s band but their music was kind of everywhere. Sports is a great record.

There’s a short film in YouTube, called “Unification” by OTOY, fully backed up by Gene Roddenberry’s state, Leonard Nimoy’s family, and with Paramount’s blessing starring William Shatner (who fully acted a few scenes) with a couple of surprise cameos. It’s short, no dialogue, but I assure you; it WILL move you to tears for what is the best end to OG Jim Kirk after what happened to him in Star Trek Generations. Also, it’s fully canon, and you’ll see how it unites together the two timelines, OG or Prime timeline and these new ones, the Kelvin timeline. Please watch it, it’s that important. 🙏🏻

Since no movie in 9 years, good bet there won't ever be one. It would cost 300M to make another one and the studio suits know it would lose money. Streaming the TV shows is the new reality now.

Adding my four cents...I enjoyed watching all the Star Trek, because going in I always enjoyed Star Trek. Good idea starting a TV series reaction. I've put out before, how interesting it would be for Cassie and Carly to react to classic Rod Sterling's Twilight Zone. He was a prolific, incredibly talented writer.

Since Anton Yelchin (Chekov) is dead, I don't think they'll ever make any more of these. I don't think there's any plans for any more Trek movies, currently, just all the different shows they currently have running.

I completely agree. I think if she's going to continue with Trek she should either do it off channel, or she maybe should consider starting a second channel just for either Trek or only for TV shows in general. Filling up this channel with dozens and dozens of videos dedicated just to one long running show is simply not enjoyable for anyone who never watched that show. If a movie shows up that people haven't watched, no big deal, on to the next one. But when it's so many episodes dedicated to one property like that, it's just too much. Just my two cents.

The song that was used to destroy Krull's ships at Yorktown ("Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys) is the same one that young Kirk was listening to in the 2009 movie when he stole his step father's Corvette.

If they ever do another one with the Kelvin crew, they should make one more. The characters should be older, just like in the TOS films. My two cents, but we’ll see.

Also, this movie reunites Gamorra and Heindall from the Marvel Universe, as well as Matt and Syler from the Heroes franchise, the first 2 seasons of which were really good. ✌️

I was only including the Trek she hasn’t seen yet. For me TNG is the only Star Trek that really matters. I would be fine not seeing any other variation of Star Trek again as long as I have TNG.

Cassie, now that you're a real Trekkie, you can enjoy Star Trek on your own, not necessarily for your channel. Stay away from Discovery. Voyager is long with seven years of episodes. And a lot of excellent Borg episodes. Many don't like the most recent Star Trek, though I do. And hey, I've been watching Star Trek since I was 8 in 1966. Strange New Worlds is set before the Kirk of the Enterprise, with Captain Pike. It also has only 20 episodes in the can over the last couple of years. Season 3 will start later in 2025. We get to see new actors, very young Spock, Uhura, Chrstine Chapel, and Scotty joined at the end of this last season. I still recommend on your own, you watch the "Menagerie" Original crew from the 60s. The Cage was the original 1965 pilot, no Kirk, only Pike - Jeffrey Hunter, Lenard Nimoy's spoke is in that one. NBC decided they wanted a second pilot, and they got one with Shatner as Captain Kirk and thus began ST in 1966...Almost 60 years ago.

This movie was pretty enjoyable, arguably the best of these reboot movies, but I think that Into Darkness was so disliked that it really killed any interest in these movies, and as such, this one didn't do very well, and they haven't made another Trek movie since. This movie was particularly sad because both Anton Yelchin and Leonard Nimoy died before it came out. In the same way that people have been encouraging you, Cassie, to see Super/Man: the Christopher Reeves documentary (which I agree with, as it was excellent), I would also encourage you to check out the Leonard Nimoy documentary For the Love of Spock that Adam Nimoy made after his father's death. I thought it was very informative and also very heartfelt and emotional. RIP Anton and Leonard 🖖
