Comments
Richard Maurer
Good films, mostly. I prefer my list (obviously).
Happy Hanukkah
They tried to make Cassie watch Sandra Bullock go to rehab, we said: "No, no, no." Hmm. I think I have the seed of something here, but it needs work. Maybe tighten it up a little.
Darreld Studie
I would like to say that my old high school classmate Jon Johnson won an Oscar for U-571. He worked on the soundtrack of the movie as the Supervising Sound Engineer. I got to hold his Oscar at our 30th HS Reunion. It's heavier than it looks and just as nice. Sheridan Wyoming, Class of 1973, GO BRONCS!!!!
baz0348
Exactly critics are just people like everyone else at the end of the day it's there personal opinion doesn't mean there right or there wrong personally it was an enjoyable movie I don't mind jet li but unleashed 2005 was probably by far his best performance imho.
Dean Holt
Clay, If you like courtroom dramas, Tommy Lee Jone and Sam Jackson I’d highly recommend it. Also I definitely wouldn’t judge a film on reviews or especially what wins or losses on these polls. Left me just remind you Cassie had to watch Howard the Duck because of a PIB poll 😂😂.
Clay F
Tied for next-to-last place. Doesn't get the greatest reviews -- I guess that's why I never watched it. However, I would watch it if she reacted to it.
Dean Holt
Not surprised Frequently won this, but U-572?????. It’s an ok movie than not even close to the true story it’s based on. Very surprised Rules of Engagement didn’t do better to be honest as it’s so much better but than just my opinion lol.
Clay F
You could have voted for both Frequency and Traffic. It's multi-vote.
Clay F
Gets good reviews, but tied for next-to-last place in the poll.
Clay F
The two I voted for came in 4th and 5th place -- not too bad. Not surprised that the popular Frequency won. I did not realize that U-571 was that popular. 1. Frequency - 407 2. U-571 - 303 3. Men of Honor - 213 4. FINDING FORRESTER - 178 5. TRAFFIC - 175 6. Titan A.E. - 150 7. 28 Days - 133 8. Romeo Must Die - 124 9. Rules of Engagement - 96 9. The Gift - 96 tie 11. Proof of Life - 77
Jan Sokołowski
i love Romeo must Die but i vote U571

Can’t believe you’re going to deny Cassie the opportunity to see Sandra Bullock go to rehab haha
Kristen
It made me think Keanu was scary. I didn’t see that coming!
Happy Hanukkah
U-571. Coming soon to a theater near you. This April, Jon Bon Jovi will be going down. In a blaze of glory. :-P
Happy Hanukkah
"Who determines what's a good film?" Me.
Mike Lemon
Ahhh... The apathy of first-past-the-post voting. A lot do it, almost everybody hates it. I wonder how these polls would turn out with something like the alternative vote? CGP Grey- The Alternative Vote Explained https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y3jE3B8HsE
Matthew Linson
Frequency is so good!
rakesh
Read, your comment. Looked at the top 100 of the year and have to agree. Some real good ones here ( she may may seen one or two as I didn't check ) Requiem for a Dream Final Destination O Brother, Where Art Thou? Cast Away Me, Myself & Irene Chocolat The Beach Sexy Beast Pitch Black Chopper Boiler Room
rakesh
Traffic didn't make an impression on me when I watched it. It felt self important. Yes a bunch of great actors but a plodding script. Oscar winner but imho didn't deserve it. I'm happy with frequency leading. Interesting concept and an all round great movie.
Chris Thom
Not too many have seen it, but it's a good one. Great performances.
Cojuancidence
👀The fact Titan AE is on here warms my bones✔️
Clay F
Richard - I like Jet Li. The data I posted includes not only critics, but also hundreds of thousands of users (not critics). Traffic is great filmmaking.
Stick Figure Studios
I have kind of reached a point in these polls now where I no longer really want one particular film to win since one vote hardly makes much of a difference in the big scheme of things, so instead I look at whatever two are ahead and pick the one that I prefer more. In this case, I'm fine with FREQUENCY winning.
Stick Figure Studios
Yeah, I can't agree with this assessment. I think both polls have many good films on them.
Mark White
Yep, total agree
Kristen
I want to vote for The Gift twice instead of two movies!
Joe
Who determines what's a good film?
Jerrod Acree
Poll B has many good films. Poll A 1 or 2. Need to fix this.
Jens Kristensen
"Titan A.E." ... to the stars and beyond! 🖤🪐
Daniel Karlsson
Battle Royale is fantastic
Richard Maurer
Or all three
Ryan Towell
Frequency such a good film. Dennis Quaid, Jim Caveziel, Shawn Doyle, Elizabeth Mitchell and the late great Andre Braugher. One of my favorites.
Doug Fisher
I agree 100% Clarence!
Doug Fisher
Well... polls aren't the best way to pick movies anyway. Too many conflicting objectives. Some want good movies, some want movies they know the reactors will enjoy, and some just want to see reactors squirm.
Doug Fisher
Love "Men of Honor"!
Doug Fisher
"Men of Honor" is great!
Doug Fisher
The backlash was so bad they eventually capitulated and added a crawl at the end giving credit to those that actually deserved it.
Aaron Mann
Yes, I understand. The film doesn’t give credit where credit is due. It would be akin to the Chinese storming the beaches of Normandy in Saving Private Ryan. But in all honesty, i think I could still could look past that and suspend my disbelief, as long as the acting was good and the action was entertaining. I know, I’m weird.
Rusty Childers
I don't think I've ever seen anyone react to Romeo Must Die (or most of these). Would be a good time!
diego kontarovsky
finding forrester please!
Chris Thom
Oh wow I had no idea he died. RIP.
Chris Thom
True. It's because the original looked so dingy and dirty with the sets and actors and how they shot it. But not that much was shown onscreen.
Just Plain Bob
It’s funny that the original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has such a reputation for being gory when you hardly see any blood. But the remake sure made up for the gore that the original lacked. Still, it was very well done and I enjoyed it immensely.
Jacob King
I don’t think Traffic is a badly made film though it’s been nearly 25 years since I saw it but I remember thinking it was very preachy and contrived. One of the storylines in particular is my go-to example of ludicrous plotting. That said, Romeo Must Die is an unironic favourite because it is deliberately ludicrous and over the top.
Richard Maurer
@Clay - I know you’re heavily invested in the opinions of critics, but some of us find them to be irrelevant. Also, no Jet Li in Traffic.
Jacob King
Jet Li playing football with local teens!
Darren Harrison
I didn’t spoil anything. I didn’t even mention the plot or what happens in it.
Chris Thom
I saw that at the theater too. But way before I saw the original.
Clay F
IMDb 6.2, Metacritic 52%, RT 32% (audience 61%) = Romeo Must Die IMDb 7.6, Metacritic 86%, RT 93% (audience 85%) = Traffic (won 4 Oscars, nominated for Best Picture Oscar)
Richard Maurer
Do any of these films besides Romeo Must Die have Jet Li ? No.
Patrick Crippen
Well if it doesn't win, hopefully u can crap on and spoil the film that beats it also...SMH 🙄
Chris Thom
Oh Viggo...that's right! Was thinking the lead was Owen Wilson for some reason. Haven't seen it in a while, but did see it at the theater and remember liking it. Had never seen anything about rehab before that.
William Bryan
Oh that's my favorite horror flick of all time, narrowly beating out the original Halloween. My brother and I saw it the HOUR it came out, 4:30pm Oct 17. We both came out of the theater and just yelled, "Are you f*cking serious?!?!?!" God it was awesome.
Chris Thom
That Texas Chainsaw might be the best horror remake ever. Jessica Biel nailed it as final girl. Also the cinematography was so slick for a schlocky scary movie. Loved that one. Not that it wasn't also seriously gross.
William Bryan
2000 was weak but 2003 will be burned in my memory forever. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Freddy vs Jason, Final Destination 2, American Wedding, Bad Santa, 2Fast2Furious, Identity, House of 1000 Corpses. God what a year ❤️❤️
Rose
Yes - I really like 28 Days. Viggo & Sandy 💜
William Bryan
The Patriot I'll give you but the rest, nah
Happy Hanukkah
I wasn't annoyed. :-)
Happy Hanukkah
RIP. League (2003) was his last acting role, he "officially" retired in 2006, and he passed away in 2020, aged 90.

Who is Pierce?
Chris Thom
Did Sean Connery pass?
Chris Thom
Was that directed by the same guy that did the Oceans movies with Clooney?
Chris Thom
Good point.
Eddie Perkins
Men of Honor and Traffic are both great movies.
Happy Hanukkah
Kenneth definitely did.
Happy Hanukkah
My comment was going to be: "I'm too busy right now. 28 Days? Later."
Jacob King
Romeo Must Die is the best film on this list. Sure Traffic won the Oscar but did it feature an original Aaliyah song produced by Missy Eliot? No.
Javier Hernandez
The blue vs yellow tint to the various stories is genius.
Javier Hernandez
YES! Frequency for Fathers Day would be perfect. If you don't get weepy at the end then you might not have a soul.
Clay F
“Traffic” (2000). Nominated for Best Picture Oscar. Won 4 Oscars including Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (Benicio Del Toro). Also stars Michael Douglas, a young Erika Christensen (awesome), Catherine Zeta-Jones, Don Cheadle, Dennis Quaid. Great filmmaking. Traffic is the best movie in the poll.
Clay F
"Traffic is streets ahead of the pack here in terms of sheer filmmaking craftsmanship." -- so true, so true. I could not agree more.
Anthony Carlson
Frequency would be the perfect Father’s Day pick for June, but the sooner the better! (And I will reduce the amount of YouTube links from here on out. Wasn’t trying to be annoying)
Just Plain Bob
The problem is that the movie treats the events in the film as if they actually happened. And this was a crucial accomplishment in the war. But, instead of giving credit where credit was due, the Hollywood machine chose to turn history on its head. It’s a clear cut case of stolen valor. Real life heroes risked their lives in this endeavor. But instead of giving them even the courtesy of a simple screen scroll at the end explaining what actually happened, the filmmakers chose to pretend it was true. The screenwriter apologized later, agreed it was stolen valor, said that if he was given the chance to do it over he wouldn’t have written the screenplay and said the studio decided to mask the truth for the increased box office. He further said that he had relatives that fought in the war and he would be upset if filmmakers treated their true heroics the way this film did. Finally, the British government complained and the President publicly apologized for the lies depicted in the film. If they want to make something up out of whole cloth, that’s one thing. What they did here was different. Imagine if “Only the Brave” depicted a bunch of visiting English firefighters making the sacrifices that the real life firefighters did. People would be upset, and rightly so.
Richard Maurer
Or a poll for Feb. it’s not my fault most of the best ‘00 movies that Cassie hasn’t watched yet are horror movies.
Just Plain Bob
I thought “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” was moderately entertaining (although the CGI was atrocious). Then I read the graphic novels written by comic book legend Alan Moore and understood why fans of the comic were so upset. It was brilliant. I’m still hoping that one day someone makes a faithful adaptation instead of a corporate shadow of the original IP.
Just Plain Bob
It actually goes even further than just crediting Americans for what the English accomplished. Without saying what happens, the Poles used reverse engineering to accomplish the same feat several years before the war even started. Then, the key event depicted in the film was accomplished a total of 15 times. Thirteen of those 15 times it was the English that did it. Also, the English first accomplished this feat more than three years before the Americans. And, even after the objective was obtained, much work had to be done to make the accomplishment pay dividends. The English at Bletchley Park were widely regarded as the best at this and it proved to be a huge intelligence coup. And almost all of it was done by the English and the Poles (who continued their own efforts in secret after Germany invaded). I recommend “Alan Turing Decoded” and “The Codebreakers at Bletchley Park” as two superb books on this particular niche of World War 2 history. Point being, the American contribution in this area was negligible. The English led the way and the Poles were also instrumental. Obviously, America did a lot to help win the war, just not in this particular arena.
Just Plain Bob
“The Imitation Game” was a good movie and inspired me to read up on Alan Turing. Unfortunately, what I found was that it wasn’t particularly accurate, either. Dermot Turing, who is Alan Turing’s nephew, wrote a great biography of his uncle, “Alan Turing Decoded” as well as a fantastic history of the code breakers he worked with, aptly titled “The Codebreakers of Bletchley Park.” I highly recommend both. Turing was a brilliant man and instrumental in building the first computers (called Turing machines at the time) but most agreed that there were many codebreakers at Bletchley that were better at cracking code than he was. He was a visionary (he developed the concept of artificial intelligence in the late 40s/early 50s and was ridiculed for it) and a good administrator and hasn’t gotten his just due, but the movie exaggerated his direct contributions to codebreaking. It also invented events that never happened and ignored the true scope of Bletchley Park, which housed thousands of codebreakers, not the handful depicted in the film. It’s too bad because I believe the true story is much more interesting. To this day, the test for whether something should be considered true artificial intelligence is called the “Turing Test.”
Mike Lemon
I liked League. It was bad, but it was still fun.
Nick
Pierce appreciates you using his phrase.
Nick
Finding Forester, what should have been Sean Connery’s last film, but he had to try to chase Gandalf’s success and made the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Chris Thom
So fun discovering new (old) movies that become new favorites. Doesn't happen now too often tbh, but it's fun when it does. 2005 was the year I got my first DVD copier software, and went ape at the video store copying every good thing I could find. That was fun. Also probably illegal. lol
Dan M
I like your list, Richard. And I’d have a hard time deciding which movie to cast my vote for…Ginger Snaps, Ju-on, or Hollow Man. And I agree this also make for an excellent poll in October.
Aaron Mann
I don't know. I think it's a good mix. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, so I naturally gravitate to the movies released in that era. I'm slowly branching out to the classics.
Mike Lemon
Also, if the check box isn't working (you can't see the results), try clicking over by the actual word. Patreon sometimes gets the measurements off a little.
Dan M
Yes, but it’s still a nail biting, awesome roller coaster of a movie. And that’s all I’ve ever taken away from it. It’s just a good, entertaining popcorn flick.
Chris Thom
True. '99 was great in music as well.
Dan M
I don’t know…the male leads in U-571 have a pretty large female following. Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton. Cassie and Carly love both of them. And he doesn’t have a huge part in the movie, but Jon Bon Jovi was also big with the ladies then, and still is now.
Aaron Mann
Also, 28 Days Later came out in 2002.
Henry Graham
Oof, this list is rough. Should have done this last year and celebrated the 25th anniversary of 1999, one of the great years in American cinema! The two films leading the poll are both fairly laughable if my memory serves. Traffic is streets ahead of the pack here in terms of sheer filmmaking craftsmanship.
Chris Thom
You can click on multiple choices. Just click on what you want then refresh the page to see if it stuck.
Aaron Mann
Not really. It had some bangers. Some of them Cassie has seen too. Memento Unbreakable Proof of Life American Psycho The Patriot Traffic The Perfect Storm Men of Honor Thirteen Days Snatch Cast Away X-Men Just to name a few.
Mike Vickers
I clicked on my choice, but done see how to actually cast my vote. Is this about that tariff thing?
Aaron Mann
I'm fine with the flag waving propaganda. And I can look past the historical inaccuracies. It's just a fun and tense popcorn flick, not to be taken as gospel.
Aaron Mann
Yes, it's a fun courtroom drama with Samuel L Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones. Cassie would enjoy the courtroom drama aspect.
Andrew Heller
Ive definitely mentioned frequency in her YouTube chats a bunch
Joe
Pitch Black is very entertaining, maybe a PPOTM for Cassie I'm thinking, yeah!
Darren Harrison
The problem I have with U-571 is the lack of historical accuracy. It’s U.S. flag waving nonsense at its worst. The Polish had already broken the Enigma code a whole three years before the U.S. was in WWII, and when the Germans added additional rotors the code breakers at Bletchley Park in England were reading decoded messages in real time - I recommend “The Imitation Game” for more on that subject.
Chris Thom
There's nothing wrong with What Lies Beneath! lol
Clay F
Chris, can’t say too much because spoiler. Based on my Google search, the movie credits (depicts) the Americans for what the British accomplished.
Just Plain Bob
Re: Ju-On, I remember when J horror exploded onto the scene in the late 90s/early 2000s. It was very gratifying to see SCARY ghost stories again. As usual, Hollywood ghost stories had all fallen into an easily understood template. Protagonist perceives the presence of the supernatural, no one believes the protagonist even as the empty, boring jump scares escalate, the protagonist discovers the haunting entity only wants to be heard/understood and to have justice served, the protagonist uncovers the actions of the killer that led to the haunting in the first place. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseam. Soooooooo boring. But Asian ghosts - they were scary and meant great harm to the living. Those movies could chill the blood and didn’t rely on the cheap, dime-a-dozen jump scares that modern audiences mistake for a narrative.
Mike Lemon
@Adam- No. Plus there are about a bajillion reactions to that already.
Richard Maurer
Somehow I knew that.
Clarence Newman
Umm.....Hollow Man.
Chris Thom
It was a big , but kind of forgotten, hit. Box office did well.
Chris Thom
Haven't seen U-571 but in what way was it stolen valour?
Chris Thom
I don't remember much about it. Except that really funky old diving gear.
Richard Maurer
How many of these films have you seen Clarence? Hollow Man barely made my list.
Adam Gatewood
I wonder if The Life of Brian makes it into that poll?
Chris Thom
Don't remember Rules of Engagement. Is that kind of a Few Good Men type court room movie?
Clarence Newman
I'm glad you stretched it to 6, because Hollow Man is the one I'd vote for.
bknsty14
Rules of Engagement is excellent. The other poll is stacked.
Just Plain Bob
Chris, I highly recommend “Battle Royale.” Such an interesting concept and carried out flawlessly. Once you’ve seen it, though, it’s impossible to view a certain Hollywood blockbuster as anything other than a pale imitation. I won’t give it away, in case you watch “Battle Royale”, so no spoilers. But you’ll know which Hollywood hit/rip-off I’m talking about once you’ve seen it.
Mike Lemon
She did say something about watching a religious movie or series for Easter. I'm hoping for Jesus of Nazareth (1977) myself.
Julian Corbett
A peice of jingoistic flag waving propaganda, both non-historic and a stolen valor movie as agregious as "Objective Burma", claiming credit by the US for actions that were completed 7 months before the US was attacked at Pearl Harbor. Even the script writer admitted that U-571 had distorted history, and said that he would not do it again, stating he had relatives who served in WWII and he "would be personally offended if somebody distorted their achievements"
Chris Thom
That Howard the Duck reaction has over two thousand comments under it. lol
Chris Thom
This channel has been giving me crazy deja vu since I discovered it. The random memories that pop up related to the movies are crazy. Get some new ones every week which is fun...sometimes stressful.
Richard Maurer
JPBob - I’d probably pick Ju-On, even knowing that it might be the new film at the top of Cassie’s scariest film list. Despite what some people think I’m not looking to terrify her, I just think it’s probably the best film on the list. But like you, ask me again tomorrow and I might give you a different answer.
Chris Thom
Yeah that one is a cool mix. Romance, but also the drama of getting clean at rehab, which made it really unique for the time.
rakesh
Frequency is the only viable choice , great concept. Caviezel has dipped into sci in the past with Deja Vu ( with Denzil!) and Outlander. Superb in the Tv Series Persons of Interest. But truly outstanding in The Passion of the Christ, which I hope you'll watch in the run up to Easter.
Chris Thom
I don't remember it that well either. Would be interesting to see it again. Do remember it being a big hit though.
Chris Thom
Eyy I actually saw all those on your list except Battle Royale. Shadow of the Vampire was interesting. Hollow Man was a big hit if I remember right. Cutting edge special effects for the time. Pitch Black was kind of a cult classic.
Chris Thom
On YouTube at least, I know people have wanted Frequency to win for a long time now. Personally the most memorable from that time are Frequency, The Gift, Traffic, and 28 Days. But would happy for any on the list to win! Do think Cassie might enjoy 28 Days for the Sandra Bullock and romance of it all.
Richard Maurer
@ Robert - I do lean towards horror BUT there were a lot of non horror films I would have picked except Cassie has already done them. Maybe it’s just me but it seems all the really good mainstream movies from 2000 have been done already.
Nicholas Coy
Okay. The ratio of guys to gals has got to be 10 to 1 or U-571 wouldn't be doing this hot.
John
I liked Titan, A.e., Finding Forrester, voted for Frequency, I like Caviezel
Robert Baldino
A lot of these are pretty good, but not necessarily great. The years haven't been kind to some of these, either. That doesn't mean they aren't a good watch, though. And honestly, I think Cassie would enjoy Proof of Life most, so of course it's in last place, lol.
Just Plain Bob
Amen. It’s actively disrespectful to actual WW2 heroes. All so a Hollywood corporation could rake in some extra cash.
Dryfesands
Interesting choices. U571 is utter dross though. Historically inaccurate to an actually offensive degree and one of the worst Hollywood examples of "Stolen Valor"
Robert Baldino
I think part of the problem is that you seem to have a very specific taste, and these aren't really the kinds of movies that subscribers bring up again and again. This list might make for a good spooky season poll, though.
Pickupthepieces76
Frequency for the win!
Just Plain Bob
Richard, the movies you listed would make for a terrible poll. Because every single one of them deserves a reaction. It would drive me crazy trying to pick just one. I’d probably go with “Battle Royale” but, if you asked me tomorrow I’d probably pick one of the others. Nix that, I’d go with “Ginger Snaps.” Nope, “Shadow of the Vampire.” Although that would really require a reaction to the original “Nosferatu” first. What the hell, I’m willing to make that sacrifice.
Joe
I had assumed the mods did pick the poll selections. We could use a 3rd poll.
Paul Stelter
She would love U-571 -- an exciting war movie but not in the SAVING PRIVATE RYAN sense
Richard Maurer
I had Boondock Saints on the list but I’d already gone over by 1.
Gray
as a Brit I agree :D
JarHead0351
For me it is U-571 & Rules Of Engagement & Men of Honor - 3 good movies which I hope one them wins
Robert Durant
Dammit, U-571 in second place again. C&C you girls really need to give that movie a watch. A tense WW2 submarine movie.
D. T. Nelson
Frequency and Finding Forrester all the way on this one. None of the others really matter (though Traffic was pretty good... and intense). U-571 was trying too hard to be like other sub movies that came out before it, and it really butchered history.
Clarence Newman
Oh hell yes! Alas, I feel we'd need a poll about Cannonballs for it to win. Alternatively, I could fly to Utah and bend the knee.
David Patterson
And March 24th will be the 41st anniversary of a Saturday detention.
Carol Rocha
Frequency is SUCH a great movie!! Jim Caviezel, Dennis Quaid… MEN OF HONOR is an underrated fantastic movie that I think everyone should see. Based on actual people/events. Robert DeNiro & Cuba Gooding Jr.
Clarence Newman
Cuba Gooding jr's best performance. And I'm not forgetting Jerry Maguire.
Clarence Newman
The best 5 from your poll, Richard?
Joe
Clarence, think how giddy she'll be when she finally watches "Cannonball Run". 😉
David Patterson
My most recent one: There was 25 years between the Apollo 13 mission and the movie, which will turn 30 this year.
Richard Maurer
Sometimes I see polls like this and I can’t help but wonder where are the movies I actually care about? I’m not saying these are (all) bad movies, just that I had to go through the choices (both polls) twice to find something I’d bother to vote for. That made me google movies that came out in 2000 to see what movies I liked (and Cassie had not seen) and I found I could easily make a full poll without using any film from either of these 2 polls. I think I just realized I’m here more for the entertaining comments ( both by the Patrons and Cassie) than I am for the movies that are watched. Anyway I voted for Romeo Must Die (for Jet Li) and Space Cowboys (for Space)
HappySad
Finding Forrester probably won't win but come on! Great movie!!!
Clarence Newman
I haven't heard of Frequency, but I do like it when a lot of folks on here get excited over a film I haven't seen. There's nothing quite like discovering a great one and that's happened quite a few times on this channel (Ford v Ferrari anyone?) That's kinda why Cassie enjoys the PiB gig so much, I think. The excitement of discovery.
Blake Evans
All of these are great but Men of Honor is one of those I grew up on and haven’t seen in so long. Also knowing about Carl Brashear and the things he had to go through, I find it very hard to complain about the very minuscule things in my life.
Just Plain Bob
I watched “The Imitation Game” and loved it. It inspired me to read a couple of books on the codebreakers at Bletchley Park. Unfortunately, what I discovered was that it wasn’t much more accurate than “U-571.” For one thing, Turing wasn’t considered a particularly gifted code breaker. He was much more of a visionary. His contributions were enormous, just very different than depicted in the film. Also, the movie makes it seem as though there were a small handful of people responsible for the code breaking. In reality, there were literally thousands. To me, his real accomplishments were more impressive than depicted in the movie. Not many can be both a visionary and a successful administrator. Remarkable man and a hero whose contributions both during the war and after the war have been sadly overlooked.
Joe
Cassie, for your consideration. Just watch the winners of each poll. Then put the 2nd place films in a run-off poll to get a 3rd film. You have 3 films now, just make it a week.
Tech Citizen
Romeo Must Die is a nice martial art action film featuring a well known H.K. actor Jet Li and of course Aaliyah (RIP). But I think it's one of Jet Li's less known western-released films. Would be a good choice if there is a martial art / action fighting poll. But please include Shalin (2011) for that poll!
Clarence Newman
Happens to us all, David. Recent examples for me were the "Friends" 30th anniversary and the realisation that Silence of the Lambs came out 34 years ago.
Just Plain Bob
The screenwriter even apologized for it, said that making the heroes American was a naked Hollywood cash grab, admitted it was a stolen valor film and that the English had every reason to be outraged and said that, if he had it to do over again, he wouldn’t write the screenplay.
Mark White
Yep
Omar
Finding Forrester lets goooooooo
Catherine LW
I don’t think I’ve seen any of these, except maybe Frequency. And I don’t remember it! 😩
Mark White
The way Turing was treated was just awful. I know they were different times back then. But after everything he did!! Have you seen “The imitation game” with Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s based on his life.
Clay F
Mark -- I googled "is U-571 disrespectful to British?" The Google AI response is: "Yes, 'U-571' is widely considered disrespectful to the British, particularly to the Royal Navy ... the film historically inaccurate and undermining [the British] crucial role ...; even former British Prime Minister Tony Blair publicly criticized the film as an 'affront' to British sailors." I also saw this as the first result in the search: "U-571 upset the British Parliament. Prime Minister Tony Blair even commented that the production was an insult to the Royal Navy. The overarching sentiment wasn't one of mere nationalistic pride, but of upholding the truth and honoring the fallen."
Clarence Newman
"A Chief Petty Officer shall not drink. However, if he should drink he shall not get drunk. If he should get drunk, he shall not stagger. And if he should stagger, he shall not fall. And if he should fall, he will fall in such a manner as to cover up his rank so that passersby will think he is an officer." What a movie.
Christian Rennie
Frequency is superb. Can't spoil but it is totally worth it. All the feels.
Just Plain Bob
Changed my vote to “Frequency” from “Traffic” since it has a better chance of beating out “U-571”, an appalling stolen valor movie. Imagine if “Only the Brave” depicted a group of visiting British firefighters dying while fighting wildfires, completely ignoring the true heroes. Same thing.
Dallon Maxfield
Titan A.E is hugely underrated. I honestly forget it exists until I hear about it randomly like now. Legendary Matt Damon doing a voice acting role
kaiielle
Men of Honor is great! That one def has my pick.
Rick Rodriguez
Traffic, Finding Forrester, and U-571.
Mark White
Traffic is a good movie. I’ve not seen Frequency, but I’ve got a feeling I will be voting for it! As a Brit with close family members who have been in the forces, U571 it’s just so disrespectful!

Men of Honor is superb. Doesn't look like it'll win here, but I hope Cassie gets to it eventually. Cuba Gooding jr and Robert De Niro are very good together. The only other one I'd love to see is Proof of Life. Russell Crowe, Meg Ryan and a great performance by the vastly underrated David Morse (Brutal in Green Mile).

Navy veteran here! You know my pick is Men of Honor! A mans movie. But you love it too.
Doc Larry
Good choices.
Dan M
Frequency is an excellent movie with an interesting and unique plot. It’s always been a favorite for me.
Mark White
If that wins, I will have to get on top of my soap box!
SpankTheMonk
One of the few romantic comedies I have seen 28 Days is a nice movie.
Just Plain Bob
Yep. The English were furious about the film and rightfully so. Appalling that Hollywood should so cavalierly disregard true history and simply write their own, completely ignoring the true heroes. I read somewhere that 15 Enigma machines were captured during the war, all but two of them by the English. But, even before the war, the Poles had successfully reverse engineered the machines. The real problem was discovering which key to use, since it changed every day. That’s what the thousands of men and women at Bletchley Park did so well.
Dan M
I voted for Space Cowboys as well. It’s definitely a movie Cassie and Carly would both enjoy. And I’d be happy with either Frequency or U-571. Two totally different movies, both with excellent casts, and both equally as enjoyable.
Mark White
Thanks Milton. It’s a Disgrace!
Clay F
Good point. I do prefer Frequency over U-571. I prefer the multi-Oscar winner Traffic the most. Stunning. I've seen a lot of patrons craving Frequency, so I will happy for them b/c looks like Frequency will run away with it in the poll. Not surprising.
Mark White
Stolen Valor! It’s just so disrespectful. “It is an insult to the Royal Navy”
David Patterson
Yeah, I've been experiencing Deja Vu as of late. I'm one of them old f**ts that saw '70s and '80s movies in theater on opening weekend. In the 2000s, I would say 'Star Wars. BTTF. 3 Amigos. They just came out!' Then I'd do the math and reach for my imaginary walker. Lately, I'm saying 'The Rookie. Sahara. The Bucket List. Those just came out!' then start wondering what nursing home I wandered away from.
Just Plain Bob
The screenwriter of the film even apologized for it, acknowledged that it was a stolen valor film, said it was written with Americans as the heroes as a naked cash grab for the studio and said, given a second opportunity, he wouldn’t have written the movie.
TheSingulatarian
U-571 might as well take place in outer space, almost none of it is true. Fun movie but completely fictious.
Larry Darrell
Thank You Cassie!!! For putting Frequency and Space Cowboys in separate polls. That’s your final 2 right there… and you’ll be watching the Final 2, right. I’ve probably watched these 2 movies at least once a year, since they came out. They’re that good.
Clay F
I am the opposite. I have seen many patrons mention (emphasize) Frequency.
Clay F
Thanks for doing these polls. I voted TRAFFIC (the best movie in the poll) and FINDING FORRESTER (I have nostalgia for and think Cassie would like -- stars Sean Connery and F. Murray Abraham). Yet, I won't mind if Frequency (which I like) or U-571 wins. I suspected that Frequency would be popular among voting patrons.
Philip G.
@milton hahaha but these are movies WE chose
Milton William Burray
Are we going to give those plebs another chance after they voted for Howard the Duck?
Dan M
I don’t think that’s true at all…I like newer movies equally as well as older movies, and I try to be equitable when it comes to voting for newer movies and older movies. But in this particular case, all of the movies are the same age (25 years), so your argument doesn’t make sense.
Rose
Same Dan! I enjoy U571. I think it’s such a great popcorn flick. The cast is stacked!
Milton William Burray
I don't even know what Frequency is but just voted for it to keep out that appalling stolen valour movie U-571
Just Plain Bob
Amen. I watched that film when it first came out and, like most, thought it was a true story. It wasn’t. And it robs the real heroes of their achievements. The screenwriter even apologized for it years later, saying that he wouldn’t have written it given a second chance. For the true story regarding code breaking and the Enigma machine, I highly recommend “The Codebreakers of Bletchley Park”, written by Dermot Turing, the nephew of legendary codebreaker Alan Turing, who helped build the first computers (aptly called called Turing machines) during the war and first posited the theory of artificial intelligence (for which he was ridiculed).
William Brownlee
Men of Honor. Cassie will cry, maybe not as much as I did, but cry. Lol
phillip giroux
Wow, didn't think anyone else had heard of Frequency.
Dan M
I agree, Rose! But I also feel the same way about U-571…a stellar cast with Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, Harvey Keitel, David Keith, and Jon Bon Jovi in a nailbiter of a movie. I’d be happy with either one winning.
Seymor Butz
Finally.....a chance for FREQUENCY. Let's go woot woot.
David Kent
Every poll it is in I'm going for U-571. I'll even submit it for my pick until Cassie watches it.
Dan M
This poll was a little tougher for me, because I’d be so happy with either U-571 or Frequency winning. Both are outstanding movies, both have excellent casts, and both would be so much fun for you and Carly. However, since Frequency is currently in the lead, I put my vote in for U-571 to hopefully make it more interesting. Of course, if you decided to watch the top 2 from each poll, what treat THAT would be! 🤞
TheSingulatarian
I'll go with Rules of Engagement good cast and generally you can't go wrong with Freidkin. The A Poll, chef's kiss. The B poll however reminds me of the polls on another reactor's Patreon that had me going WTF more often than not.
Stranger2Reality
I like to think of it as a prequel 😂
Phil Sexton
Yeah, Cassie has already seen the zombie version
Randy Schuh
Finding Forester is a great Sean Connery movie. Men of Honor is a great true story that is a must see.
William Bryan
With the exception of Final Destination and Gladiator 2000 was really a weak year for movies. Lol
Mark White
Some good movies in there. just please no U571!!!
TheSingulatarian
We're talking 28 Days the Sandra Bullock rehab movie and not 28 Days Later the zombie horror, right.
Rose
Let’s go Frequency!! That has Cassie&Carly written all over it. One of my fav films and such a great cast!
Cassie
oh thats a good idea for next time-one poll on patreon, one on youtube and then the final back on YT maybe?
Jonathan Wiking
Titan ae is underrated
Just Plain Bob
Anything but “U-571”, a stolen valor film that’s 100% fiction masquerading as a true story.
Ike
Ohhh good choices. Gonna go with… - Finding Forrester - U571 - Men of Honor
Dean Holt
It’s a shame poll B has so many better movies on it than A
Cory H
Ah, Frequency is great! A long time since I've seen it, but it just feels like a movie Cassie would enjoy.
Philip G.
I feel like one of these polls should have been on YouTube . There's definitely a difference in movie taste as most many Patreons are older and choose older movies quite frequently
Stranger2Reality
I'm amazed that with how many movies are on this list how few of them are actually worth seeing. Yikes.
V M
I'm not even voting on this poll. Where's Scary Movie??
Ace Degenerate
Finding Forrester and Men of Honor
Laura Grubler
Love this movie!!
Jared Cobb
Frequency has been my write-in vote too :)
Erik Locquiao
Had a hard time choosing between Frequency and Romeo Must Die
Matt Rose
Another solid batch. FREQUENCY all the way, though. Just a great film.
Andrew Heller
frequency better win!!!! That movie is right up her alley with family and thriller (i know sometimes she doesnt like too Much of them)
Justin
I feel like Poll B has way more must see films that Poll A
