Doesn't matter if it was them or the black one, they are dragons, they do pretty much whatever they like eventually, they are wild beasts. While I agree that this is absolutely heartbreaking, there are really no other options. It's like letting a dog wander free in the neighbourhood, it will eventually cause problems too, that's why one puts up fences, have a dog cage or chain them up, because they are still animals and can react agressive if under the wrong circumstance. Past Targaryens had dragon-pits, where dragons were contained to, they were not free to roam around because that is the result if they do, as soon as they go hungry they will hunt on their own. I do hate how they ruined what could've been the best swordfight in GoT by doing quick-cuts, zoom-ins and shaky cam (fight between Hound and Brienne)

I had the same reaction to her dragons being locked up. I can handle any amount of violence or death when it comes to humans, but if an animal is locked up against it's will or killed, it destroys me.

For all people want to complain, its really only the final season that has real issues. Season 7 has some of the most magnificent and dramatic moments of the entire series and there is PLENTY to love between now and then.

My favorite part of this finale was Arya, when she finally gets the opportunity to leave Westeros and start her own punk band, I mean search for the ultimate girl mentor killer we all know she deserves. When Brienne and the Hound meet at last, I gotta admit, the Hound was my boy, but Brienne earned the win, that fight scene is one of the best I've ever scene on a screen, it was a street fight, relatable to me. And who would have been the better bodyguard? Depends, was the Hound intending on taking Arya North to Jon, her last known surviving sibling? If so, Brienne had the same intent, she's not an idiot, she's very much like the Hound in that she looks at things as a soldier, neither is a knight but they're both soldiers with their own versions of the same warriors code: duty, loyalty, honor, and the courage to physically fight for those ideas and the real people they mean to protect. Anyway, moot point, because ARYA, the badass, took her own destiny in hand. Obviously she's edited her kill list after leaving Sandor to die, but funding her voyage with the silver he stole from that farmer and his daughter. Aw man, I know everyone says season 4 is the best but the show does not diminish afterwards in my opinion, I'm biased towards 5 because that's when I started watching it.

I'm glad you enjoyed a lot of what followed. I can agree that there are some pretty good episodes, but think your grading is awful generous. Season 5 and 6 were mixtures to be sure, but 7 and 8 were just plain awful. The few episodes that seemed like they might redeem the story were immediately followed by such garbage as to ruin the hint of goodwill.

It makes more sense in the books. Jaime and Tyrion have a conversation while escaping that makes Tyrion hate his father x1000 and it makes him turn back and go through a secret doorway into the Hand's Chambers, where he finds that Shae had slept with Tywin. He kills her and then goes and kills his father afterword. Tyrion becomes a dark character after this in the books, but the show completely whitewashes his character because the showrunners knew Tyrion was a fan favorite and they wanted him to still seem like the good Tyrion everyone liked.

I just had to add, there's that hint of speculation from the parallel literary GoT universe as to whether Tyrion really is the son of Tywin. I've heard that the Mad King had a thing for Joanna Lanister, Tywin's wife, and when he wanted to spend some time with her, as Robert said, the king gets what he wants... You ever notice, they're all blonde, but Tyrion's hair is not quite the same color, could be metaphor alone, but maybe Tywin really hated Tyrion because, even though he never could admit to himself what was obvious about Jaime and Cersei, that suspicion of Tyrion's paternity was where he placed his hatred?

Best episode of the absolutely best season, and that's saying a lot considering that one of the episodes had Joffrey choking to death. The title of the episode is The Children and when you think about it, this is where all of the children really start to break free of the constraints that their parents operated under. - Cersei tells her father where he can shove his marriage. - Tyrion finally puts and end to the father who terrorized him his entire life. - Jaimie ignores both his father and Cersei and does the right thing. - Jon acts like a born leader. - Bran begins his training to become what he was destined to become. - Arya breaks free of the chain of men who have controlled her life ever since she left Winterfell. As far as the dragons are concerned, none of these dragons are named Toothless. They are killers. As Daenerys said in Season 2, they eat meat, and they really aren't picky about what kind of meat. Rhaegal, and Viserion might not have killed the child, but it was probably only a matter of time before they killed also. Dragons are great in war, but in peace they cost a lot. This is what happened to the last of the dragons centuries ago. Many were lost in a civil war (The Dance of Dragons, but you'll hear more about that next season), but the last few were small, stunted creatures. Dany's ancestors were trying to run a kingdom, and they needed to keep the dragons locked up because when the dragons killed people or livestock, their hosts paid for it. Eventually they dragons just withered away, but what were they to do? Let them kill? Tough choice, but if you've got a killer dog, you have to put it in a cage.

I can't blame her for locking up the dragons. They breathe huge fireballs from the sky. And it's only a matter of time before the other ones accidentally hurt or kill someone. Obviously they're not gonna be in Mereen forever, but dragons are pretty dangerous in a heavily populated area.

One of the best episodes of the show! So many good moments. The ending moments of the Hound and Arya! The fight of the Hound and Brienne! Tyrion! Everyone in the episode was on their top game. Nat, glad that you are enjoying it so much despite all the tears. Danny had to lock up the dragons. Even the two who didn't kill any people or kids yet. How different would she have been from the slave masters before her ruling the city if she did not act? How do you reassure the people that it will never happen again? Not like she would ever kill her dragons. So she had to lock them up for the greater good. . . . What did the old Targaryens do when their dragons killed people? Not give a shit. Probably kill the person who brought it up. Especially the early days.

That was such an amazing episode - it's so hard to pick a favorite, but that has so much packed into it without seeming rushed or superfluous. Plus the reactions from Ms. NG just intensifies everything. KUDOS

Not saying you have to by any means, but I am sure that the YouTube folks would appreciate this episode as a stand alone reaction. It is a VERY full episode. Great reaction! The Hounds final scene is a killer piece of acting from Rory McCann. Tyrion's performance as he kills Shae, and then his broken soul as he talked with his father was stunning. Tyrion had some great stuff this season. We got some great milestones with Bran, Arya, and Jon, Stannis's army came from the Loan from the Iron Bank as you surmised. They decided that they would not be getting their due from the Lannisters, so they backed their rivals. He came north because Davos showed him the letter that was sent by the Night's Watch right after they found out that the dead were coming back to life. He realized that that was the bigger threat, and moved to wipe that out first.

Natalie, remember Stannis sentenced Davos to die, but Davos showed him the message from Castle Black about the threat in the north. Melisandre looked into the flames and said that the threat in the north is the true war. She said they would need to keep Davos alive for his part in the war. That's why Stannis brought his army north.

It's not just complicated. Tyrion absolutely hates Jaime after that point. He even fantasizes about killing him. I don't like how the show whitewashed Tyrion. In the books, Shae didn't try to attack him. He just killed her. But in the show, it's painted as self-defense.

Dramatically speaking, IMO this episode is peak Game of Thrones. The way the writing and directing of the episode captures George RR Martin's portrayal of the deep and long lasting pain of loss in this world never gets better. That's not to mean the show gets bad after this, it's just the dramatic tension never manages to equal this one episode. In terms of action, we haven't hit the peak yet IMO. There's still some truly amazing and suspensfull battles coming and that's all I'll say.

Varys realised this and took a split-second decision to flee. Such decisive conviction, a testament to his strength & adaptability.

So, Tyrion made a detour during his escape. He was never supposed to see Shae or his father. In the books, the scene between him and Jaime actually goes a little differently. Jaime admits to Tyrion that the girl that Tyrion married when he was younger really did love him and that the relationship was real, that Tywin made Jaime lie to Tyrion about his wife being a whore and setting up the scenario so that Tyrion would finally have a woman; Jaime admits that it was all a lie. So, they leave on complicated terms, but the showrunners decided to go against that part of the storyline. Either way, this sequence of events is just heartbreaking for Tyrion!

The Hound was right. There was nowhere for Arya to go, as she'd either be killed or used as another bargaining chip just like Sansa was being used as. Brienne views the world in absolute lines, much like Ned Stark did, and wouldn't have been able to protect Arya from the real dangers that come from blurring such lines.

After Jamie left he got the idea to go up the stairs and confront his father, probably with no plan. So ready for season 5, has the episode that's probably my favorite episode of any TV series
