the hobbit trilogy was sadly way over CG'd and [ugh] compared to the amazing work done on LOTR by Jackson. I'll have to think of some things to throw at you tha you might have never seen before. How to Train your Dragon is good though, enjoyed it.

They even used Tolkien's own tune for the song, which is the one thing we'll give them credit for. But basically, it’s like Cecil B. DeMille’s old brag of “Give me two pages of the Bible, and I’ll give you a picture!”…Or, in Peter Jackson’s case, give him any two pages in The Hobbit, and he’ll give you a new character, a running trilogy subplot, and a videogame-ready CGI action scene. And he goes through EVERY freakin’ pair of pages in the one book.

I suppose eventually you should see The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition. But fair warning: it's generally decent, popcorn level of fun, but a big drop in quality compared to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. There's a bunch of fan edits out there that greatly compress the story into 2 or 1 film, as the trilogy feels super decompressed and stretched. (The Lord of the Rings books were a trilogy, but The Hobbit was 1 SHORT book.) Overall, The Hobbit Trilogy isn't terrible, but it does feel like there's a great 1 or 2 film saga in there that's buried under a lot of superfluous scenes or scenes that run too long just to get 3 movies. And I only suggest watching the Extended Editions because you did that for LOTR, so why not. But even the theatrical versions of Hobbit seem long. But hey, might as well do ALL OF IT. Do the Extended Editions just so you can say you've reviewed the entirety of the trilogy. Just so any super devoted fan can't say "Ah ha! You didn't watch all of it!" I will say though, part 1 An Unexpected Journey was pretty good and recreated a number of fun moments from the book beat per beat. (Blunt the knives, bend the forks, smash the bottles and burn the corks....)

Stay as far away from that Hobbit cash grab as possible.

Some other good feelgood movies that are not that old "How to lose a guy in 10 days (2003)", "What women want(2000)", and "A Midsummer Night's Dream(1999)" The last one is Shakespeare, but as a Theater Geek you should enjoy it. Christian Bale, Calista Flockhart, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline and Michelle Pfeiffer.

I voted for Back To The Future, but another really good trilogy of "Feel Good Movies" is The Karate Kid. You have a kid who's new in town, trying to fit in. He gets bullied by a bunch of kids who are karate students. He learns karate and enters a tournament to win their respect. Add in a little romance and a new friendship with his karate sensei/mentor, and it hits you in ALL the feels.

I would actually recommend she seeks out one of the "single movie" cuts that attempt to cut the entire trilogy down to a single film. They are legitimately better that way, with all of the fluff cut out.

Been thinking about it for a while, Nat, if you want a feel good movie, try “The Rocketeer”. It was a box office flop, but mainly because of the movies that came out immediately before and in the weeks following it’s release (Including Point Break, Terminator 2 and Naked Gun 2 ½). Once you’ve done with Spider-Man: Far from home, I’d follow it with Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse and The Rocketeer as a couple of feel good stand alone superhero movies (at least, stand alone for now).

Yeah the Hobbit is not really a feel good movie imo. but it's a fun trilogy to watch. Btw, I commented this in your Gladiator video, I'd recommend watching "A GOOD YEAR". It's a Ridley Scott movie but unlike his usual Multi-million block buster movies. Now that's what I would call a feel good movie.

Short Circuit, Better off Dead, Big, Can't Buy Me Love, Dirty Dancing, Ferris Buellers day off, License to drive, My Cousin Vinny, Secret of my Success, some Kind of Wonderful, Men at Work. just to name a few. ok, there might be a couple from the early 90s in that list.

How to train your dragon, absolutely! You must watch all three though, don’t just stop at one. On a side note, I would strongly advise you do not jump straight into the Marvel TV properties after you finish the films. I would watch the X-Men movies, not all of them, and you may want to brush up on the other Spider-Man movies before MCU Spider-Man 3 this Christmas.

How much of Back to the Future can you remember tho? If it's like Indiana Jones, that's my clear, undoubted choice. If you remember a lot, no. The fun of a reaction video comes from watching you react to new things. Being a lifelong lover of The Hobbit novel, I'm extremely disappointed and annoyed by Jackson's movies. HTTYD I've never seen and likely never will.

Only reason I chose How to train Your Dragon is because you've already seen Back to the Future. HTTYD is a very good animated trilogy. The Hobbit trilogy is nowhere near as good as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it's still fun in it's own way. It should not have been 3 movies, but 1 movie about the same length as the Return of the King (either version).
