It's not that bad a scene, really. All of the women in question were participating in the battle. It's just very unlikely that the nearest 10 participants for that one task would all have been female. If they'd written it so that the groups had a good reason to split along biological sex lines for that moment (such as maybe Pegasus horses are scared of biological men because they only work with Valkyries), then it would have been more organic.

I think Homelander is type of person who assumes everyone loves him and that all women want him. So he probably thought somehow in his head that Becca wanted to have sex with him. He is just that screwed up in his narcissistic mind. That's just my theory.
