The first 4 I think are all classics (with the first one being up there with Back to the Future). The last 2 seemed to go off the rails a bit

yer not wrong, Nat; early Korra is rough, in many senses of the word. I love this show to bits, but I'm sure we all yelled at Korra in the first few episodes. They can do more things with her than they could with the 12 year old boy, and they do. No spoilers!

Korra's character development is one of the best things about this series. But she needed to start from "rock bottom" so to speak. To compare, I didn't get into ATLA because of the first 2 episodes, which didn't do all that much for me. The show started to hit when Aang went to the air temple in episode 3 -- the fact that a kid's show would even approach the topic of genocide blew my mind, but it was handled very well and I was blown away. That's when ATLA became good for me. And I definitely agree. Korra needs friends to balance her impetuous nature and to sort of ground her, much like Aang needed his gang.

It's the same order of the Avatar cycle: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Water... etc. It's just shifting so that it ends on the Avatar's native element, as it did with Aang. :)

i can relate a little too much to korra's impatience, immediately not being good at something and quitting is something i know too well. i like that we are seeing how difficult it is to air-bend though

One thing I think you missed, those guys who had on the uniforms on to watch her and who were fixing the training gates were White Lotus members. The secret society that Iroh, Bumi, Pakku, Piandao, and Jeong Jeong were all a part of. So they are still a part of the world, watching over the Avatar. I know she's annoying, but she's literally a teenager. It's part of the expectation she would be very brash and hard headed. Plus, her personality is very much like an earthbender, not a waterbender that she was born as. That's also why the intro is different. The intro starts with the element after the avatars birth one. Aang was born an Airbender, and water was first in the intro, then air last. Korra was born a Waterbender, so earth was the first element in the intro, with her birth element last. And I love the recap film reel thing. It fits perfectly when you think about the Era they're in with the growth of new technology like radios. Those announcers had a grand time when film was first being made. 😅

It's honestly crazy to go back to the beginning of LoK and remember how all these characters started cause it's been awhile since I've rewatched. Korra's personality was super immature but also makes a ton of sense since she was super sheltered super privileged - everything was always focused on her and clearly the three elements were a breeze for her so she's also like a kid prodigy which in it of itself is kind of annoying. I still found Aang to be much more annoying than her though haha.

I didn’t like Korra at this point either because she really does just get in her own way which is annoying problem for your protagonist to have. Thankfully she knocks that shit off and the writers figure out what they really wanna do with her.

Yeah they changed the order of the elements in the intro - As the cycle of the Avatar changes so does the cycle of the elements. The cycle began with Fire followed by Air then Water and lastly Earth, rinse and repeat :D
