When we first realized in the pilot that Ted's marriage was in trouble and later when they broke up, I had the same reaction. How could anyone not love this man? But really, I could see how that kind of relentless positivity could be hard to deal with. It would make you feel like you couldn't ever be mad at him or even in a bad mood. And if you weren't perfectly happy in the marriage you'd feel so *guilty,* especially with everyone from the outside saying, "You are so lucky! He's just perfect!" The way he caught her crying and she said, "I'm going to keep trying." And then he let her go. Told her she didn't have to try anymore. Painful, but it was a "good" breakup. And we know now that Ted was not okay. He had (and still has) a lot of toxic shit buried beneath that chipper smile and he's still working through it. So I do not blame Michelle in the least for wanting out of the marriage. But yeah, Dating their marriage counselor? That is not okay. I don't know it's worse for him (unprofessional/unethical) or her (kicking Ted in the teeth) but I'm definitely more disappointed in her. I mean, at the end of the day I don't give a shit about Dr. Jacob. And OH MY GOD, I agree with you about Rebecca's look. That face, that hair, that body, and the most killer wardrobe outside of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. (Loved that shoutout! And you should totally react to that!) Every time Rebecca shows up onscreen I'm just sighing with pure envy at how gorgeous and put-together she is.
