Just to reiterate, telling someone what happens AT THE END of a movie between the protagonist and antagonist is almost always a spoiler. "If it's in the trailer and TV spots it's not a spoiler." Wrong. Trailers sometimes have spoilers, and Nat hasn't seen the trailer. "What you're talking about is a neccessary sequence essential to all super hero movies." No it isn't. Not all movies have the protagonist kill the antagonist. "Let's also chalk up the fact that this movie has been in the zeitgeist for 12+ years." Doesn't matter, Natalie hasn't seen it. I disagree that this movie was in the zeitgeist for even 5 years, but that's beside the point. Natalie hasn't seen it. "If you truly believe way deep in your bowels that sequence was a spoiler then you probably shouldn't have copy and pasted that because that information is out there twice." Could not find a trailer that included that information. The fact it's on a poll to watch the movie negates the old release argument. If you delete your comments the replies are deleted also, zero harm in pointing out your idiocy by repeating the spoiler. If it ends just like every other superhero movie just say that, if it was interesting enough information for you to comment on it then by definition you should consider it a spoiler but you have some sort of cognitive disconnect on that.

MAN OF STEEL is a bit of a toil. 2 and a half hours of not much happening. And in the end, both Zod and Supe murder a lot of people and don't even care that they did. At this point in the DCEU, you can just pop in anywhere to be perfectly honest, because they mess with their own timelines. That's why THE FLASH is supposed to "fix" this broken up nonsensical continuity. If you wanna watch BLACK ADAM, do it. MAN OF STEEL? Do it. It really doesn't matter.

Snyder Cut is definitely way way too long. The scenes went on way too long. Individual shots went on way too long. Almost excruciatingly so at times. A lot of material was just extraneous filler. The coda is unnecessary now that they've apparently moved on from Snyder's overall vision. Still think it was a better version of the story than the Joss Whedon cut though.

It's just the unfortunate truth. I REALLY liked "Man of Steel," which was the perfect start to the DCEU, but it all went to shit SO FAST! The DCEU suffered from the same problems that Zack did with "BvS." They were both misguided, overly ambitious and poorly realized. In that way, "BvS" was perfectly emblematic of what the DCEU would become. After "MoS," Snyder should have done ANYTHING except make "BvS." It was too soon. He could have made a proper "MoS" sequel or taken a break to help Affleck make his solo Batman film and/or helped Patty Jenkins make her solo "Wonder Woman" film. All of those were 100x better options than "BvS" but, as I said, he was overly ambitious and lost sight of the long game. Snyder's greatest contribution, BY FAR, to the DCEU was the casting! He was extremely involved in casting, like most directors. He and his LONGTIME dynamic duo of casting directors (Kristy Carlson & Lora Kennedy) assembled brilliant casts for "MoS," "BvS," "JL/ZSJL" and "WW" (every other DCEU project was cast by others). His JL cast was near-perfect (except Ezra Miller, even before all his off-screen BS).

The DC Animated Universe exists in another realm from anything else DC has done. Most of it is excellent, with only a couple of big flops. The DCAU gives us Kevin Conroy Batman, who is and always will be THE BATMAN of my childhood. There have been some good live action takes, like Battinson and Keaton, but Conroy is the best Batman voice just as Mark Hamil is the best Joker voice.

My little opinion: There are several in the DC film universe you can (and should) skip. However, in spite of it getting a really mixed reception, I love Man of Steel and Henry Cavill is my favorite Superman since Christopher Reeves. Most of the people that were angry at the film just didn't like the choices Zach made with the style and character because it was such a departure from the Christopher Reeves style, but the darker and grittier take was exactly what the character needed to be believable and Henry performs it beautifully. Avengers had just come out the year prior, and I think people were expecting a bright and colorful quippy film like Avengers. If the movie were released today I think it would receive a much more positive review than it did then. That cannot be said for all of the Snyder DC films, and its up to you on whether you want to watch the rest of those movies, but Man of Steel is absolutely worth the watch.

Zack Snyder is good with visuals, and that's about it. He glorified fascism with 300, he made Watchmen without understanding (or agreeing with) the source material's philosophy and political leanings and what he did to the character of Superman (and to an extent Batman) was nothing short of cultural vandalism. When i learned that Snyder wanted to make a film adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead (which has now stalled), so many of his weird creative choices made sense to me. The story of Superman as told by an objectivist is a pretty bad idea. Shazam! is worth watching, though.

Yes he called him Thanos as well, because Brolin played Thanos as well as Cable in the MCU. The DC joke was there as well. I was trying to be funny by mentioning KIera Knightly. In one of the DP1 post-credits scenes he spoiled that Cable would be in the sequel, and joked that they might cast Knightly to play him.

Not a fan of The Suicide Squad but I've heard positive things about Peacemaker. My overall point is that Natalie, who went thru the grand, epic journey through 20+ films in the MCU & most of the Disney+ series, has no connection to the DCEU and will never even come close to that with the DCEU because overall, it's trash. That's why I recommended the best films and that's it, then told her to stick to non-DCEU content for DC Films (JOKER, The Batman).

PLEASE heed the warning!! Please be VERY SELECTIVE with what DCEU films you waste your time watching, Nat! PLEASE! There are about 3 DCEU films worth watching. The rest is a STEAMING PILE OF HOT GARBAGE and a total waste of time! You should DEFINITELY watch "Man of Steel;" NOT as a precursor to "Black Adam," tho. You should watch it because it's actually a legit good Superman and superhero/comic book film, in general. After that, there are only a couple other good DCEU films I would recommend watching: "Wonder Woman" and "Aquaman." That's it! After that, you might have fun with "Shazam," mostly because the non-superhero stuff is pretty fun and well-done. Other than that, if you want to see good, or even great, DC films, stay away from the DCEU! So, here's my suggestion for DCEU films: 1) Man of Steel 2) Wonder Woman 3) Aquaman 4) (maybe) Shazam Wonder Woman IS first introduced in "Batman v Superman," but her solo film is A PREQUEL that takes place during WWI, so "BvS" has nothing to do with that film at all. Same with Aquaman. He is not introduced in "BvS" like Wonder Woman, but he's VERY briefly shown (we're talking seconds, not minutes). So, just like "Wonder Woman," there is ZERO NEED to watch "BvS" before watching "Aquaman." Don't listen to anyone who tries to say otherwise. You DO NOT need to watch "BvS" before watching either of those films ("Wonder Woman" or "Aquaman"). I personally recommend skipping "Batman v Superman" AND "Suicide Squad"...UNLESS you plan to watch "Justice League." BUT, I DO NOT recommend watching Justice League either (not the original version OR Zach Snyder's 4+ HOUR LONG version). Certain fans will 100% want you, and BEG YOU, to watch "Zach Snyder's Justice League," but TRUST ME on this! IF YOU ARE NOT A HARDCORE DC COMICS FAN, "ZACH SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE" IS NOT FOR YOU!! It's a love letter to the diehard DC Comics fans and, even moreso, to the super fans of Zach Snyder himself. While it is undeniably a beautifully shot film, it is OVER 4 HOURS of DC content that will mostly mean NOTHING to you. You won't understand THE VAST MAJORITY of it, even if you watch "Man of Steel" AND "Batman v Superman" first. It is a film meant for hardcore DC fans. Period. The best way I can explain it using Marvel is if you watched a LONGER version of "Avengers: Endgame" after having only seen the first "Iron Man" film and maybe "Captain America: Winter Soldier." 80-90% of the film would make no sense and have no meaning for you. As for "Black Adam," it's a WASTE OF LIFE! It is one of the most bland superhero films in years, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing himself (like he does in EVERY film). The only difference? This time, he's playing himself doing a really shitty cosplay of Black Adam. It's CRINGE and NOT a necessary DCEU film at this point...AT ALL.

I would start with the original Christopher Reeve Superman I and II. If you've already seen them, Man of Steel is essentially retelling those 2 movies. That being said, if you plan on watching Justice League, you have to watch Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman beforehand as the story continues were BM vs SM left off. However, if you plan on watching DC movies, I recommend watching Man of Steel before Black Adam. In my opinion, the DC movies lack the charm that the MC movies have. The MCU develops their story much better (for the most part). On the DC side, I feel that's why a lot of fans loved the 1st Wonder Woman movie as it had really good story development. That is very rare in the DC movies.

Please....lol..... Dr. Strange was easily as bad as WW84, as was Eternals and that sad excuse for a Thor movie. Don't even get me started on breaking down everything wrong with phase 4, I could go on for days. And no I'm not a hater at all, I'm actually a pretty big fan of most of the Marvel content. The new Christmas special was actually pretty good. Sadly James Gunn is done with Marvel after guardians 3 so that's yet another huge loss to their talent pool.....I even like a few of the offerings in phase 4. Honestly Nat, I'd watch them all and just judge for yourself. Marvel has certainly had it's chance, I'd give the DCEU the same opportunity. Just watch them in release order, and make sure you watch the BvS Ultimate Edition, and the Snyder cut of Justice League. At least that keeps the integrity of what the director intended. Sadly we don't have a David Ayer cut of the first Suicide Squad film, so the only option in that case is the version the studio absolutely butchered.

Actually, it's one of the better offerings in phase 4 (average, but average is good for phase 4), but the bottom line regarding Ms. Marvel is that almost no one watched it. I would personally want to see reactions to all the DCU content, but movies like Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 can be skipped if you’re looking to cut down and avoid superhero fatigue. Do you NEED to watch the other DC movies before Black Adam? No. There are a couple of references But several of them are worth watching. NOTE - I'm gonna mention these movies out of chronological order, but whichever ones you decide to watch, doing them in chrono order is best. I know some people crap all over Man Of Steel, but I loved it. The theatrical cut of Batman v Superman was rough, but the Ultimate Edition(i.e. the director's cut) is much better. The first Wonder Woman is awesome, but WW 1984 was kind of a turd. Aquaman was pretty fun, certainly worth a watch. The Suicide Squad movies are pretty meh, though Margot Robbie is a lot of fun as Harley Quinn. Birds Of Prey was just bad. Shazam was fantastic. And then of course there's Justice League. The theatrical Justice League has.... problems. Zack Snyder's Justice League aka the Snyder Cut is awesome. Yes it's long, but it's worth it. It's also broken up into six chapters, making it easy to post a reaction to it in segments.

If it were a friend wanting a movie recommendation I'd tell them to skip to the better ones, but Natalie's job is literally to react to movies, good or bad, and all the things that come with that. If she's committing to get into the DCEU, she should therefore watch all of them. That said, these are mostly bottom of the barrel movies, so she really should only watch them when she's got a schedule gap. I don't see any obligation to rush.

Even if you don't plan to do many DC movies, I HIGHLY recommend the first Wonder Woman and Shazam. You don't need to have seen any other movies to watch them either.

People saying Black Adam first are insane. Why would you watch Black Adam first when Man of Steel, a legitimately good film, is sitting right there? And if she wants, Nat can watch the rest after that. But Man of Steel is easily the best DCEU film that has been released so far. Then you'll be ready for Witcher after watching Henry Cavill for 2 hours lol

This is my watch order suggestion: Man of Steel (no post credits) Batman vs Superman Ultimate Edition (This edition is 30 minutes longer and tells a better story) (no post credits) Suicide Squad (post credits) Wonder Woman (no post credits) Justice League (Snyder Cut) (there's a tag but I can't remember if it is post credits or not) Aquaman (no post credits) Wonder Woman 1984 (post credits scene) - another bad movie to some Birds of Prey (no post credits) The Suicide Squad (2021) (post credits) Peacemaker Season 1 Shazam (post credits) Black Adam (post credits) Josstice League (just for the fun of it because it is SO different than the amazing Snyder Cut but you should maybe watch it for educational purposes, lol) I would do a poll asking people if they want you to watch all the DCEU movies and Peacemaker to get the complete experience, or to just vote as you go. Like watch Man of Steel and then do a BVS poll, yes or no, and if people don't want you to watch Suicide Squad, then you do an individual poll. But if the majority wants you to just watch everything, you'll get your answer in that first poll. For a completionist on YouTube, I think it'll do quite well!

DC movies outside Batman and Superman have been mid at best. After Man of Steel, definitely need to check out the Ultimate cut of Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, Shazam and Zack Snyder’s original cut of the Justice League (NOT the crappy 2017 Whedon version). Can’t watch Aquaman anymore cause of Amber lol.

Best to start with Superman 1978, Superman II 1980, Batman 1989 and Batman Returns 1992...and stop there. But Man of Steel for sure then Wonder Woman and Shazam (Wonder Woman and Shazam are excellent). Then stop. :)

Just start with Black Adam. Man of Steel stinks. Plus, Man of Steel barely has anything to do with Black Adam. So there's not really any connections you need to know about before watching Black Adam. The only one you might want to watch first, although you don't really have to, is Shazam. Shazam alludes to Black Adam and some of the lore of Shazam would help you understand Black Adam better. However, it's also not super important to watch Shazam to understand Black Adam.

I don't actually mind the first suicide squad it's not going to win any awards mind you 😃 also yes if Margot Robbie is in it I too am watching ,the 2nd though I do enjoy cuz it leads to peacemaker which is just bonkers but I really had fun watching it . Havnt seen black and so I vote man of steel 👍

I remember when the first suicide squad came out I was so hyped I tried to convince myself it was good even though yeah it’s pretty bad. However I’d advise watching it if you plan on watching the excellent 2021 sequel/reboot, if anything just to see how much better it is than the original.

It's not a good movie and given how big of a flop it is, the character won't return. :P

Where is the avoid the really bad quality of films? There are a couple gems in here but there are more films that are just bad and hard to watch. Its not Last airbender bad, but its closer to last airbender than most MCU movies.
