They are indeed not zombies, they're not dead! In the Ep 1 intro sequence, the scientist talks about how cordyceps "keeps its host alive whilst eating it from the inside", so yeah, all of the infected people are just puppets of the cordyceps but being taken over by the fungus on the inside, little by little. Makes you wonder how conscious the humans on the inside really are, especially when it gets to the later stages of infection...!

Yeah for some reason if I go back to the Chernobyl patreon reaction where I had the same HBO issue because im in the UK. I can still change the playback in that to 1.05x I don't know if it's because of they way Nat linked the YouTube video. Because I only have the options of 1.25 which is too fast. I'm not sure if Nat can link it the same way she did the HBO series as that's the only way I'm gonna be able to do it without pausing every 10 seconds for the reaction to catch up. It's not Nat's fault for some reason HBO always has a different run time to every other streaming service and is always the odd one out.

I have an issue where i cant sync the reaction to my copy. I know HBO famously runs slower than other format versions, howver Youtube has removed the custom playback speed so cant set the reaction to 1.05x faster than the original.

I despise jump scares to the point where I won't watch horror things. But surprisingly, something I enjoyed about the game is that there are no jump scares. That really surprised me when I played it. Because I was expecting a Resident Evil style scare experience, which is unpleasant to me. In fact, the only time that I was scared during playing the game was when Ellie popped into the screen from nowhere because she's always around you. 😂

I'd reccomend watching Wakanda Forever alone first then watching the reaction on here; its a lot more of an emotional rollercoaster than your typical marvel movie

This show so far doesn't rely on the jump scare too often. At least not as much as Stranger Things or even TWD did. So you probably won't have to worry about your knee again. It does get intensely scary and anxiety inducing at times though. If you can survive that, I think the story so far is worth it. Only played the game up to the beginning really of episode 4, so I'm excited to see the rest of the story! The prologue scene explaining the way the fungal parasite works was so well done and chilling. It's based in enough scientific fact that it feels real and almost imminent. It's still much more fiction than fact though.

I usually prefer to watch something on my own first than watch with a reactor. That way I can enjoy the reaction. The only time I can think of watching something new was when she started Stranger Things. I had avoided it because I had always thought it would be too scary. But I figured if she could watch it, I could. After the first episode I started binging it without her though.

you have to remember that this is her job and if a series doesn't win a poll or doesn't do too well on her youtube channel there really isnt a good reason for her to watch it on camera when if she really wanted to could just watch it in her personal time

Depends on what she's watching. Something more dense, plot-driven, or dialogue intensive could be hard to watch with her for the first time but something like a Marvel movie wouldn't be an issue imo

Im not sure how I feel about Nat chasing these latest trends... honestly I enjoy the Last of Us, which is why I've seen so many people already react to it! There are so many more niche and interesting series Nat could lend an interesting perspective on; Band of Brothers, Better Call Saul, Community. Nat hasn't caught up on a lot of Marvel TV even! But yeah, the Wednesday TikTok dance NEEDs further discussion.

You may have not noticed but that kid walking up to the quarantine zone was the kid Joel threw into the fire. The red that came up on the scanner was alerting them the kid was infected. So the officer was saying all those nice things because she was comforting the kid as they lethally injected them.

And I'm hopeful that you'll start the game, too, even though it is probably going to be quite difficult to get through, but it's an AMAZING story, even more so than the series is showing. Maybe just play on super duper easy mode and you'll get through it in (mostly) one piece :)

Great reaction to a great show. Couple comments: You asked if the scene where it's shot from the backseat of the truck during the initial outbreak was from the game and it's a near one-for-one reproduction. In the game, you play this section as Sarah, so it's shot from her perspective. As far as moving to Alaska (or somewhere cold), it wouldn't really help other that for the fact that those areas are more lightly populated. The reason they were talking about global warming in the cold open was that a warmer earth might put evolutionary pressure on fungus to mutate to tolerate higher temperatures. It's not that the fungus needs a higher temperature to survive - it's that it needed to be able to survive in higher temperatures to survive in a human. Once that has happened and it spread, the genie is out of the bottle and there's no going back.

Not to worry. It's more about the people than the zombies (aka Infected). But it does have it's share of scary monsters. And yes, we now know the apocalypse will begin at Burning Man. ;) FEDRA: Federal Disaster Response Agency. Basically the show's version of FEMA.
