I do think that going into X-Men 97 Blind is a unique experience; the show does a fantastic job of re-capping past events. I could see Nat watching a re-cap before the reaction, but I don't know. Meeting these characters first in the show rather than over a re-cap video would be a better introduction to them. But it's a good recommendation. She'll be fine going in blind with zero insight into past events. My friend, who has never watched an X-Men media, enjoyed X-Men 97 and found it easy to follow; naturally had questions about events mentioned in the show along with a few questions about the origins and relationships of some of the characters, but for the most part he was able to follow the show from beginning and end. Nat could always watch a recap videos after the first few episodes if she's feeling a little lost in the world. But yeah good recommendation.

I adore Peaky Blinders, but X-Men 97 is also amazing. Both shows are at the peak of live-action and animation. X-Men 97 is on the shorter side, with fast-paced episodes and only 10 in total, so you could easily fly through the series back to back in a day. That's my only nit-pick with X-Men 97 I would've liked for slower pacing and more episodes but the end product is still fantastic, best thing Marvel has released since Infinity War (2018) and for me personally it's one of the best shows of 2024 alongside Fallout and Shōgun. The series has done far more justice to the X-Men than the movies ever did and you'll end up loving characters you simply never cared for in the films, Cyclops is finally given the respect he deserves while Rogue is actually useful. Also, as people have mentioned, X-Men 97 is a follow-up to the X-Men Animated Series (1994 to 1997). Still, X-Men 97 does a fantastic job of explaining past events in a way that makes sense to someone who has never watched any episodes of the original series. X-Men 97 is very much designed around being welcoming to a range of audiences with differing X-Men knowledge, most viewers falling under the same category as yourself. If you want insight into the 90s series, you can always watch a 10-minute recap video before the reaction like Diiirk706 recommended. It should fill you in on the basics, but I don't see any problem with you going in blind. I do recommend that you don't rely too much on the knowledge you acquired from the X-Men films as the movies differ heavily to how the X-Men are depicted in the comics, across storylines, character origins, and it's depiction of certain characters. X-Men 97 is closer to how the X-Men, stories, and characters are depicted in the comics so the more you look back upon the movies as a refresher, the more you may get confused. On a final note every single show listed on this post is amazing and deserves a watch so hopefully you'll get to experience each one of them throughout this journey :)

It is a continuation of the OG animated series but a quick 30 min youtube video that recaps the most important story arcs of the series will do just fine, plus Nat has seen all of the Xmen live action movies so she has a general knowledge of the Xmen universe. The only stuff she may miss out on are Easter eggs and call backs to the OG series and comics but that's for the really hardcore fans anyway

Cillian is an absolute delight on screen. Helen McRory (rip) brilliant. Adrien Brody chews the scenery like nothing you've ever seen. Tom Hardy goes off in this series. Sam Neil's Scottish accent is UNBELIEVABLE. So much good music, White Stripes, Idles, Arctic Monkeys, Sinead O'Connor, PJ Harvey, and more. It's also the most misunderstood show in the world. Literally. Many people can't hear through the accent. Turn on your subtitles, put on headphones or start flexing your context clue muscles. First season is old and it'll feel like it but still wonderful. Gets progressively better with each season.

Barry is really good and hilarious and I'm sure Natalie will like it because it has a ton of in-jokes about the LA actor scene. Peaky Blinders (early seasons) is always a solid choice, it's quality entertainment with very broad appeal. As much as I personally like Star Trek, I would advise against watching the Original Series, it's _very_ dated. Also, season 1 is 29 episodes(!) long. Instead, I suggest to watch a selection of the best episodes to get to know the characters and then go through the movies, they're pretty great.

I voted for X-Men '97 because it's the best "revival" series I've ever seen. However, I'm uncertain if Natalie has watched the X-Men Animated Series from the '90s. If she hasn't, she might be a little lost because the cartoon is faithful to the X-Men comics and therefore radically different than FOX's X-Men films. Most of the characters are the same, but Wolverine is a foot shorter, Storm speaks like an opera singer, and Rogue has permanently absorbed (Captain) Ms. Marvel's super strength, flight, and invulnerability powers. If X-Men '97 wins the poll (it's looking good so far) then we X-Men fans could recommend key episodes from X-Men TAS for Natalie to watch offline as a foundation for X-Men '97.

Even if Star Trek doesn't win I think you should definitely get around to it. I'd recommend the popcorn in Bed method of watching it though. At least for The Original Series, Voyager, and TNG. But even if you started the Original Series it'd still be like 5 years of Star Trek on the channel lol
