lol so many comments my bad. peaky is a type of hat that a lot of irishmen wore. Blinders is like the 1920's version of how we use like dripped out. So the gang was the juxtaposition of raggedy scummy irish kids who apart from the hats dressed super classy

omg I'm so excited to do a watch-along for this series. I think you'll enjoy it. The writing, sound design, set, and acting are all top-notch. There's lots of character development and the plot is appropriately complex. Also, it's a great period piece! The Peaky Blinders were real-though not nearly as epic as Cillian Murphy makes them seem. In a couple of quick notes-Thomas Shelby was smoking opium. He doesn't like singing in pubs because it felt inappropriately surreal-post WW1 soldiers often felt like the appropriate atmosphere was one of grievance.

I've never seen this show before but I'm already loving the vibes like Nat :) It reminds me of other shows in that time period like Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire and more recently, Warrior, which I think would be an awesome reaction. Also really excited for Ghibli!

Hi, Nat! As much as I liked you talking about S1E1 and S3E1, predictions and thoughts, I think it would be better for some new Peaky Blinders watchers who haven't seen that far of any episode and want to enjoy watching it with you. I've seen but I saw couple comments that said they haven't seen. P.S. Loved the reaction, can't wait for next episode.

- The tunnels are trenches on the world war I. This was one of the most horrible tasks. They dig tunnels under the battelfield to reach the enemy trenches. The fights where specially terrible. They fight in the darrk, in close quarters and with knives. -Tommy is smoking opium

Hi Nat, the name Peaky Blinders is believed to be a reference to the gang's sartorial elegance. The popular usage of "peaky" at the time referred to any flat cap with a peak. "Blinder" was a familiar Birmingham slang term, still used today, to describe something or someone of dapper appearance.
