I second Blade (and Blade 2 which is even better... you can skip Blade: Trinity) as it could be a nice refresher on the character if the MCU ever actually films the Mahershala Ali version.

Also, I wouldn’t object to you watching to some more of the early 2000s cheesy superhero flicks before diving into Deadpool and Wolverine, feel like it would help with a lot of the references x Manifesting Daredevil (2003) in particular for a Fun Bad Movie reaction🤞🏻 Blade is the OG marvel movie and still holds up (mostly) so that would be a fun one too x

Arrival is the best movie on this list but if you’ve seen it, even not remembering, you’ll have some inkling of the twist so you will probably sniff it out and may spoil the reaction. (Of course I’d still watch anyway) So I’d then vote for Apollo 13, a masterpiece in its own right and I’d predict you’ll love it. 🍻

i suspect for a few folks, we'll just never vote for a rewatch. she can say she doesn't remember the movie well, but that's not how memory works. it's contextual, s once the movie is playing, she'll remember far more than she realizes. I don't personally watch reactions for the commentary, i watch them for the emotional responses that come with discovering a new story.

As much as I want Apollo 13 to win, Nat has a reputation of tearing even great movies apart sometimes. I just dont want her to make a good movie look bad. I want her to simply enjoy watching it and not think about every nuance and continuity.

I don't understand how Apollo 13 is winning. Close Encounters; Arrival; Donnie Darko, are all far more interesting movies. (For a split second I thought Arrival was The Arrival, the Charlie Sheen movie from 1996, but immediately realized no one else remembers that movie)

And as it was adapted from Jim Lovell's own book, "Lost Moon" (and he served as a consultant on the film) pretty much what happened is on the screen. He said only one scene was made more dramatic than he remembered (the argument scene). For one of Natalie's subscribers who was actually alive and following the events closely (my birthday was the 16th), this movie takes me back every time I see it.

Yes! Although I haven't seen an actual movie made of it. Pretty much all I've seen are snippets, and of course, just a photo with the music in the background. The original with Richard Burton's narration is just too, too good.

Eventually, I'd like to see you react to them all. But Apollo 13 is my first choice because it really happened, I'm old enough to remember watching it happen and being extremely proud, and I enjoy seeing a younger person's take on it.

Speaking on War of the Worlds (2005), I highly recommend Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds (1978). The whole album is a blast, closer to the 1898 novel by H. G. Wells. The movies are more present day, shown through an American point of view, so pretty differant to the novel. Musical would be a good place for anyone looking for a setting or story closer to the original.

At some point Nat, you must see all three that you haven't yet seen. Apollo 13 will win ofc bc... Hanks, Paxton, Bacon! But I definitely and highly recommend both Close Encounters and Donnie Darko. First, Spielberg ofc and even if the (spoilers!) is a little (spoilers!) you still can't go wrong with this one. And Donnie Darko absolutely WILL - as another patron said - BLOW YOUR MIND! We can wait a bit (well, at least I can...), but definitely get to all of those ones you never saw before. ;*
