I'd argue that Agatha absolutely IS top tier - its basically marvel's most popular series (after loki maybe but IMO its better) you just may not be its target audience but for many women and LBGTQIA+ folks its just the best!!

Dont get mew wrong AaA is a great show i watched it from start to finish and enjoyed it but just because those communities are represented in the show slightly doesnt mean the show is ABOUT THEM. Therefore meaning that just because it didnt win the popular vote doesnt mean its because it represents minorities. Frankly the winner of the poll The Penguin is also a good show that i watched alongside AaA and i can frankly say it deserves to be watched first.

I don't know how you are with anime but I highly suggest you watch Delicious in Dungeon if you haven't seen it. I didn't think it would be as addictive as it was but it is amazing!

Oh, absolutely. There's a reason I only listed TOS and TNG in that category. A lot of the other series are serial, rather than episodic like those two. DS9 is almost entirely serial, with only a few episodes that work along. Voyager and enterprise are a little of each, but probably not much of a draw when it comes to reactions. The modern shows tend to be serial as well.

I was very excited for Agatha All Along. Kathryn Hahn is such fun in everything she does. The series is excellent and the cast is amazing. Had it not been put in a poll with the (in my opinion) near flawless The Penguin, it probably would have won. I have no doubt Natalie will get to Agatha sooner rather than later.

That works great for certain Star Trek series and terribly for others. It works wonderfully for The Next Generation in that each episode usually consists of the crew finding/arriving at problem X only for them to learn to work through that problem and develop as a crew afterword. Whereas with Voyager the crew faces a totally different sort of problem - the need to get back home. Each episode consists of similar problems they're just set in a totally different kind of situation.

I hear ya Baggie! It's all good though.. I just really enjoy seeing others experience something that I've always liked so much in my life for their first time. That's one of the big reasons why I support people like Natalie on Patreon. :) One day - hopefully! I wouldn't be opposed to starting with TNG but I would definitely like to see her begin with TOS, as well. Though - I began with TNG and that developed my love and admiration for the series as a whole. Beginning with TOS is far from required! I've been enjoying that series again lately is all. I've watched all of TNG, most of DS9 and all of Voyager as well as all of Picard, Enterprise, Strange New Worlds, and Discovery. The main show that I'm missing out on is the original series. It's what I'd enjoy watching with her as a first time for myself, as well. :) I just have a huge background of knowledge with all things Star Trek beyond what that show contains. As for movies - I'd hope that we could get the pre Kelvin timeline of films watched! Nothing against those movies but I just really think that people jumping into Star Trek should have to learn from those movies instead of the new/modern Trek films. Plus I absolutely prefer the cast of those films over the modern ones! Nobody outcools Jean Luc Picard, Data and Worf! xD I'm hugely biased with those characters. :P

Some shows just don't win the popular vote. It took forever for Arcane to win a poll because Marvel shows kept beating it. However, I wouldn't say shows that have good representation will never get picked (see Arcane). I do hope that at some point, Nat will have a show and movie maybe per month that she just picks herself so some shows that can't win a poll get a chance.

I just watched over the garden wall this year with my roommates! It'd be a great one to do for halloween next year! The episodes are so short you could probably do a couple each time and finish it in just a couple weeks.

Because The Penguin is basically is a snack, while the Sopranos is a 7 course meal. What I mean is Sopranos is lengthier and a commitment in itself compared to the 8 Episodes of the Penguin. With The Penguin Nat can then move on to another more modern series that may already have appeared on another poll or Agatha if it gathers that much vote after the polls close.

It's subjective sure, but going by the reviews, both for critics and viewers The Penguin is objectively better. I've watched both and The Penguin is definitely better.

Add in the genesis for how the show got made in the first place with the hugely successful Kickstarter campaign that made it possible, the fact it got two extra episodes paid for by Amazon, them picking a second season to start, greenlit season 3 when season 1 just started and now has season 4 greenlit.

Few people already mentioned it but Legend of Vox Machina I think would be a great pick some day. I think outside of being a great animated series it is really amazing from behind the scenes perspective of a highly successful series being extremely creator-driven. What started as a D&D live play by a bunch of voice actors is now getting 4th season of Amazon series. The episodes are short. The release was 3 episodes per week which makes a good break points of either 3 or 6 eps for a video. Really just fun time all around. (And I will throw my vote for OTGW in this poll)

I would recommend for future pick The Legend of Vox Machina. It just got approved for a 4th season, has a spinoff series in the works, and each season is just 12 episodes long at 25-30min apiece. So could go through it rather quickly.

For Star Trek, I'd recommend a curated selection (two to four episodes from each season) to get a feel for the characters and setting, followed by the films 1-6. Then do the same (curated selection) for The Next Generation, followed by films 7-8. There's more you could do after that if you wanted to, but that would give you the 'core' Star Trek experience without literally hundreds of episodes to upload.

If you want to watch Star Trek I'd suggest you just watch the films instead (you absolutely don't need to have watched the original series to enjoy the films). I suspect you'd find a lot of the content of the series feels very dated and a product of an old-style episodic television era that doesn't make for a great "start to finish" binge watch - especially if you're not a huge science fiction fan.

Love Star Trek TOS, but I'm not sure I want to see someone not used to entertainment from that time react to that material. Especially for the sake of lore. I'm imagining the eye rolling and the laughing at the writing and effects and all of that. Don't watch Star Trek TOS. It's old. I mean old old. Picture a bunch of guys in pyjama-like outfits, walking around on what is clearly a soundstage among very fake plants and very fake rocks, meeting aliens who mostly look like humans and speak English. It has a bit of a theater vibe to it, due to budget constraints, the tight production schedule, and, well, it being the 1960s. The best Star Trek show for a reactor to start with in 2024, in my opinion, is "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds". It's two seasons, each with ten episodes, of 2020s-level production quality. It's better than the other modern Star Trek shows. And there is said to be a third season next year. If you're also down for Star Trek movies, you could try the reboot movies (Kelvin Timeline): three movies (2009, 2013, and 2016), directed by J. J. Abrams (1st & 2nd) and Justin Lin (3rd). Or, if you're just looking for a sci-fi show, "The Expanse" is really good.

Penguin and Agatha All Along just happen to feature two of my favorite episodes. I loved both shows. If you're looking for another animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader (2024) and My Adventures with Superman (2024) are really fun. Highly recommend. I know Man of Steel wasn’t your thing, but My Adventures with Superman is such a better take on the character. Unique in it's own but tone wise it's perfect and captures the spirit of Superman.
