Chapter 45: { Superbia }
🕑 Added 2023-07-25 18:01:36 +0000 UTCI woke up with a feeling of unease. This wasn't good, last time something like this happened Grayfia busted into my house and kicked my ass. what was it this time?
I got up from my sweat-drenched bed and walked over to the bathroom before taking an ice-cold shower to get my mind sharp. I dressed in my usual black slacks and long-sleeved shirt, putting on a pair of opaque sunglasses to reduce the strain my eyes give me I headed downstairs.
---[3rd Person]---
And the moment he reached the first floor I regretted that decision immensely, wishing he had just left his house through a window instead or better yet blown the motherfucking house up with 100 Cursed Flames talismans.
Because the first sight his eyes had landed on was Satan himself sitting down on HIS couch drinking HIS tea with his loathsome maid by his side.
A handsome man who seemed to be in his early 20's. He had shoulder-length crimson hair and blue eyes. Wearing some overy cumbersome royal dark and gold royal clothing.
[Sirzech's Gremory Lv. ????]
It seemed like he stopped bothering concealing his presence as a crushing presence weighed down on Akira. He calmly sipped the tea in his hands in what seemed to Akira like an effort at a power play before addressing him.
"Good morning Akira. Why dont you-"
"Why the fuck are you in my house?" Akira didn't even bother hiding his scowl, he was absolutely fed up with others trespassing on his property however they wanted. There was a reason doors were invented.

He saw a vein appear on Grayfia's forehead.
"Mister Akira Gojo you will address Lord Satan Sirzechs Lucifer with respect." Grayfia said with an icy glare that did not phase Akira in the slightest before the red man raised his hand to stop her.
"It's alright Grayfia, he must be quite shocked to see me after all. Sorry about dropping by unnoticed, I am Sirzech's one of the Satan's ruling the Devil race and the brother of Rias. And I am here to discuss with you about something."
I gave him a stinkeye that he couldnt see before plopping down on the couch in front of him, my arms and legs crossed.
"You still haven't answered me."

"Right, I am guessing you know how Rias feels about her marriage. I heard about you from Rias, I am rather interested in the unique human "sorcerer" was it? I wanted to personally ask you to join Rias' peerage."

"Why do you think I would just change my mind about the matter if you asked nicely?"
"You are Rias' friend are you no? I heard from Grayfia that you two are pretty close. But regardless, this is not just about Rias, I want you to become a devil Akira. As you know the 3 factions are at war no matter how cold it is. And someone with so much potential as you is sure to be dragged in. So I am willing to compromise for you. I want you to join Rias' peerage and help her defeat Riser."
'...'
"Why can't you do that yourself oh mister mighty Satan?" Akira was straight up taunting Sirzech's at this point yet he was ignored.

Taking another sip from his tea he spoke.
"Unfortunately due to my own responsibilities as a satan, I am not able to directly assist my own sister whatsoever. If I did so some radicals from the old Satan faction may take that as a new Satan spitting on Devil tradition which could be used to create more conflict between old and new Satans that could lead to a civil war that can even reignite the great war."
"So I need you to join Rias' peerage. I may not be able to directly let you become a high-rank devil due to the Old Satan faction but I can support you to rise to high rank even faster. On top of the Gremory family would provide you with far more resources you currently have acce-"
"I refuse." He looked a bit taken aback but quickly recovered his composure.
"Why is that?" His voice took on a tad more dangerous tone that made him seem more intimidating.
"I refuse to trade away my freedom, join a war I do not care for and work for a goal I do not care about just to save someone from their own naivety by helping avoid a goddam arranged marriage. She can go to la la land with Kfc for all I care. I have enough resources and I do not care for the war. If it happens I will simply go into hiding." Not a single bit of untruth left Akira's mouth. Normally he wouldn't be so hostile but he was just fed up.
"Watch your mouth human, you are talking to a Satan!" Sirzech silenced her yet again before staring at Akira.
[-10 Affection with Grayfia Lucifuge] He didn't even care for the relationship drops at this point.
To his surprise, however, the red satan simply closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them. And when he did Akira felt bone-chilling pressure press down on himself. The whole house was creaking from the pressure emitted by Sirzechs.
As Akira refused to bow down Sirzechs raised a hand and created a ball made of pure destruction that sent shivers up Akira's spine. Sirzechs resumed speaking with an unbothered tone.
"I see, then why shouldn't I kill you right now? Nobody would know what happened and I would save myself from a headache in the future. You refuse to help Rias even when it could endanger millions of lives. From what I see I would be preventing a potential threat from entering the hands of the enemy. Unless you plan to change your mind of course."
Hah.

It's nauseating. It's disgusting how angry he felt. It felt like his blood boiled and his eyes clouded.
His practice with cursed energy had led him to becoming more in tune and controlling of his emotions but this was different.
This was a line that shouldn't have been crossed.
Everybody had a line. Even Budha would get wrathful when that line is treaded on.
He felt his cursed energy literally boil inside of his gut. He did everything in his power to control the cursed energy in his body to not let it out.
The muted sound of his teeth cracking rang out inside his own head. The more he felt this hellish feeling of loathsome weakness the more their faces started to blur.
Their faces didn't even look human anymore. Only like theatrical masks mocking his very being, all of his efforts.
Their faces resembled Hanami.
His heart thrummed against his ribcage like his own heart wanted to break out of its confines.
It was so hard, oh so hard. Every single cell, no atom in his body just begged him to slam his fist into that smug cunts face.
He gritted his teeth so hard his gums bled.
The strong trample on the weak
Controlling the flow of his cursed energy currently was the hardest task he had ever done in his life. If he flared his energy then they would see it as a threat. He couldn't even express his emotions.
That's just how the world is
Under the gaze of Sierzech and Grayfia, Akira tilted his head upward. They had detected his anger and hostility but they hadn't expected him to do something so puzzling.
Exposing his neck and throat he closed his eyes and tapped his throat with his index finger calmly.
"Do it then." Akira said with desolate coldness in his voice. His anger had so far surpassed the limit that it sounded like serenity.
"What do you mean?" Asked Sirzech's, truly confused as he hadn't expected this kind of response from the human sorcerer. It was supposed to be simple intimidation to get him to agree.
"If you will, then kill me. Right here, right now. I would rather be splattered across my own wall than to collar myself and play pet mage to your sister." But before they could respond he continued with frost adorning his voice.
"If you can really afford to lose me then go ahead by all means. Kill me and let your sister resign herself to the fate of being that chickens cumdumpster along with her entire peerage. Living her life miserably as a baby-making machine for that overgrown chicken."
"Or maybe she would kill herself before Riser can take her first, that certainly sounds plausible. Well, since you clearly have the situation under control and are willing to take sacrifice then go ahead. I'm waiting. Kill me."

He kept repeatedly tapping his throat, his finger digging into his throat a little bit more each time until it drew blood.
Akira knew that if he died right now Rias would be completely devastated. She would surely lose the rating match and then live the rest of her life as Riser's toy. Resenting her family for leaving her to this.
Or on the other hand, Sirzechs could intervene and make a political storm, potentially leading to a civil war due to how fucked. And he wouldn't do that, Sirzechs already dedicated his life to the Devil race.
Threaten him they may but they couldn't afford to claim his life at the moment.
Yet they insulted him, trampled on his pride. Spat on everything he stood for then tried to intimidate him out of his freedom.
He could understand that. He was used to that. He may hate that to his very core but he could live with that.
But they threatened his life.
They were his enemies.
Even if they were stronger than him he would never let that happen.
'Even if I die, I will crawl back from the void and claim the lives of you fuckers. Even if I have to spend a million years in the dungeons I will ruin you I swear it.'
Before Sirzechs could reply Grayfia arrived before Akira with speeds he couldn't even perceive and lifted him up by the hem of his shirt.
Yet it did little to deter Akira's gaze as he stared into Grayfia's eyes. Seemingly enjoying her enraged expression.
"Aww, did I hurt your tiny little ego? Did you want me to get on my knees and suck your master's dick and balls when you two are the ones that barged into my home and demanded I make myself a slave? Fucking bite me Bitch."
"Gra-" Before Sirzech's could finish his words he felt an intense pain in his abdomen. Like someone had slammed a red hot hammer into every inch of his being as he smashed into the wall of his house.
The world around him flipped as he felt sick to his core. His vision was red.
'What happened? Why do I feel so light?'
He saw the Sirzech get up and stop Grayfie before saying something and leaving but he didn't really catch it. All he really knew is that it hurt.
It hurt so much.
Being so weak hurt so much.
He felt blind and deaf. His blood boiled. Here he was lying in the rubble of his own wall bloodied and bordering on the line of death.
Power.
He would take revenge.
They had trampled on his pride and nearly killed him.

I got up from the rubble. A dark blue inferno was raging on my fist.

My fist slammed into the ground and shook the entire foundation of the house from the impact.
I ripped my sunglasses off. Two could play at this game.
I will get strong enough. Important enough. They won't even be able to lay even the slightest of a finger on me without breaking the peace the devil race has.
I want to kill them.
Oh, do I want to murder brutally so much. But that isn't a punishment nor is it reasonable.
I will take my revenge one day.
I reached into my inventory and pulled out a ticket.
[Scenario ticket: Assaination]

A/N: I have warned you guys before, Akira is a much more dark grey mc. And for those who may think what he is doing is stupid, you are probably right at the moment. He is currently too angry, scornful, and frustrated along with a whole spectrum of emotions causing chaos in his mind to think properly.

Yeah... this chapter didn't really do it for me. I've enjoyed the story so far but I'm not a huge fan of the whole "super prideful (to the point it actively hurts them), angsty, power-obsessed, rage monster" characters, which it feels like Akira has been getting a little too close to. Making Grayfia his Itachi is also a little concerning. I can't see him backing down from his quest for revenge, and if he does hole up in a dungeon, power farms and eventually gets it? Congratulations, Sirzechs wants you dead, the entire devil faction is against you, Azazel will see interacting with you as harmful to his centuries held hope for peace between the three factions and all those friends you made at Kuoh (bar Aika) also probably want you dead. I don't really understand why she was even at the meeting with Sirzechs, other than plot needs. Sirzechs doesn't need a minder or backup to visit some nobody, Serafall and Azazel sure didn't. Additionally, why would Sirzechs want her there? She and Akira have already met once (and it went incredibly poorly) and her sense of duty to Sirzechs and the Gremory family would probably mean that she WANTS the marriage to go through. Seems like a piss poor move from the devil who's been the head of internal affairs for centuries...
