Gambler Chapter 5: Deceiving

Quirk Japan was... weird.
Not exactly bad or worse than my original Japan, but... it was off. It was both familiar yet unfamiliar to me; over a hundred years had passed from my timeline, but the cities looked vaguely the same somehow.
Even Musutafu looked familiar but it didn't even exist back in my own world. I wondered how such a ward came to exist, but at the same time, I wasn't that curious enough to actually go out of my way to research it.
I took a day to familiarise myself with the new Japan, using my phone to look up places of interest, etc. Thankfully, even though the phone in my drawer was locked, it still used the password I used for everything, if not I would have to listen to the cryptic commentary of Seek Guidance all day to figure it out.
Speaking of Seek Guidance, it was certainly paying off its value as an Elite ability. It worked like out-of-context commentary for my situation, like meta-knowledge talking to me, it wasn't always useful and it could fuck around but finding the right message wasn't too hard.
The only problem I had with it was the headaches, if I read too many messages in a row, I would start to get headaches. Still, it helped me find a cheap gym for me to register with.
It didn't have any fancy equipment, but I didn't care for such hoopla. All a gym needed was enough surfaces and some heavy things to pick up and put down.
And it had both, so it was good with me.
The reason it was so cheap was because Death Arms gym was opened near it recently. And because it was owned by the titular hero Death Arms it got way more attention and people wanting to sign up. The quality difference didn't matter, because this age was one of... hero worship.
It made sense, less than 50 years ago the world was crawling with villains that outnumbered the heroes until All Might came along and singlehandedly turned the tables with his overwhelming might and shining attitude.
If you are a soul that has access to the internet, you know All Might. That was a simple fact.
It was thanks to him that Heroes were cemented as an essential cornerstone of society. Paragons that carry society on their backs.
Heroes were popular, like, really popular. Even more popular than celebrities back in my world, the top 10 and even 100 had cult like followings akin to world-famous singers back in my world. You saw their faces on billboards everywhere.
Was calling them heroes really accurate? Hero was a really broad term contrary to what the term implies. A Hero was anyone who graduated from Hero school or passed Hero training. While a Pro-Hero was someone who actually fought criminals professionally.
Why the distinction? Why that's because the Japan of this world was dropped on its head apparently.
You cannot use your Quirk in a public or workplace environment without having a Hero License. You can even be punished for using it in self-defence, even if it was uncommon for you to be charged with something serious. Even if you had a harmless quirk like one that let you build houses 100x faster or let you do trick shots, you could still be fined or jailed if you used them without passing hero school.
To an extent, I can get it. Quirks are unpredictable, and you don't want an untrained moron using his explosion quirk to do demolition and potentially injure a ton of people.
But at the same time. It's stupid as hell to regulate so strictly. America at least has general Quirk Competence tests you can take to prove you aren't a raging dumbass swinging around an Unstable Dark Matter Creation quirk.
But you cannot even use your superstrength in public without getting slapped with a fine.
Anyways, I didn't care all that much. Seek Guidance was untraceable unless you paid real close attention to my eyes and noticed that I was reading something and even then, you couldn't prove anything.
Speaking of SG, I needed some way to gamble with it. But breaking the law before going to hero school was... unadvised, to say the least.
I tried scratch-off tickets but they weren't accurate enough for those. Maybe if I spent a full day standing in front of the stands and interrogated Seek Guidance I could land it, but then it would be painfully obvious I was abusing some future reading quirk to cheat. Not to mention the brutal headache.
Future Reading quirks, especially accurate ones, were rare, winning the lottery kind of rare. I found out that I could easily cheat the stock market with it though so my future money problems are no more.
But I was kinda trying to fix my money problems of now. I didn't need money in the future, I needed it right now.
I spent three days just brainstorming and working out. My working out was going pretty well, but my frustration came from my inability to get money. I needed gambling with physical feedback with less dependence on luck. Slot machines, raffles and lotteries weren't it, I needed to bet it all on black.
I had briefly entertained the thought of making money going to an underground fighting ring but my quirks were too recognisable. Plus, I'm pretty sure there aren't any fighting rings in Musutafu.
Again, not really sure, I only watched until Season 3 and knew about Shigaraki becoming some sort of god thanks to spoilers. I did not put too much trust in my knowledge.
It works as a useful guideline, but not much beyond that.
...Man, did I wish I had been dropped in earlier so that I could grind some rolls by finishing first in my class or beating up kids in schoolyard fights, but as of now I was at kind of a dead end.
How frustrating.
It was currently the night of the 3rd day, I felt fine physically, thanks to Boundless Stamina; regular exhaustion was not a problem anymore. I was a cardio monster, but the human mind is a fragile machine that can easily rebel if pushed too far.
I went for a late-night grocery trip, because my fridge was as barren as always. Even in my previous life, the only distinct things I could remember being in my fridge were Alcohol, Coke (the drink, I'm no druggie) and frozen dinners.
I didn't know how to cook for shit. Because why would I have bothered to learn it? Before becoming Yakuza I was suicidal, and after becoming Yakuza I could order any food I wanted from the diner owned by the family for a discount.
...Wow, I sound really pathetic now that I think about it.
But it was already too late for me to think about improving my culinary skills, maybe if I got some extra time on my hands.
Speaking of time, I wonder when the Yandere curse is going to come into play? Remix hasn't done much so far, and I was already an orphan. The only one I haven't seen take place was Yandere. I don't even know who they were, I just had to hope that the system didn't pull a funny on me and made Momo my stalker.
I do not want to get stalked by a rich girl who could gas my house in chloroform and then wrap me in carbon fibre and drug me in any way she wanted.
But on a more serious note, I should probably prepare for the Yandere curse. I doubt I'm safe.
I shook my head and took out the mediocre yakisoba bread from its package and bit into it.
...Man, I'd kill for a smoke right now. Too bad my age prevents me from buying it, wish I had some disguise ability instead.

Himiko sang to herself as she tried on a new pair of underwear in front of the mirror in her hideout. Her latest mission from Giran had netted her a good payout so she had bought herself some cute lingerie for a special someone.
Even just recalling his name made her feel hot and bothered.
Just a few days ago, she saw a video online, obviously on the deeper parts of the net as such a gory video wouldn't be released on Itube. She recalled the first time she watched the video.
The sight of her beloved, soaked in that beloved red nectar the color of a healthy crimson that made her mouth water like never before. The first time she had seen the video of him running away from villains so bruised, battered and bloody made her so horny that she masturbated for an hour straight.

She giggled to herself while looking at the mirror. She felt really sexy wearing lingerie like this. She was choosing between blood-red see-through lace lingerie and mature, sexy black lace underwear. She even bought both a matching pair of garters and stockings.
Obviously, she couldn't wear them while using her quirk, otherwise they would vanish like the rest of her quickly depleting wardrobe, but she planned to bring them along anyway, in a separate waterproof bag.
"It's gotta be black~, after all, there will be plenty of red already, some contrast would be nice~"
Himiko hopped in place with excitement. She would head out soon. She already knew where he lived by asking Giran for all the information he had on him. She even had a safehouse nearby, like a lover's retreat~
She packed her lingerie into her waterproof bag and packed it into her schoolbag before changing into her school outfit. She couldn't use her transformation since her knives would disappear with her transformation. And she didn't think she could beat those burly demon arms of his without some knives in stock.
She put on all of her knives, two up her sleeves, two in her cardigan, and two smaller ones in her socks. She tied 5 throwing knives around her thigh under her skirt, and lastly, two knives in her pockets. You could never have enough knives on you.
Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she walked out of her apartment.
She didn't need a disguise right now, since right now, she was Himiko Toga, the girl no one cared about; the most anyone was going to give her was a glance, or a brief hello.
She was hiding in plain sight. Usually, the night would be dangerous for a girl like her, unfortunately for anyone who would try to pull anything on her, she had 13 very sharp reasons on her body as to why that would be such a bad idea.
As she skipped across town, she felt a twinge of excitement and arousal build up and soak her panties as she thought about cutting him up.

A/N: For a citizen of old Japan, quirk Japan is definitely the uncanny valley. Also, I have seen people vastly underestimate how popular hero culture is in that world, so I wanted to flesh things out a little. And poor Hakari is still struggling in the new world.
If you have Yandere, you gotta have Toga. Because I could not let Hakari catch too much of a break. Now then, Toga is motivated so this can only go so well. Rngesus will need to pull his weight to get Hakari out of this one.

Yeah I felt like I wrote Toga better this time, she is still a psychopath right now, I'm glad I managed to portray it well. Stamina and Bikaku was Hakari's luck starting to make a comeback, you can't keep his fever down forever.

An excellent chapter, by the way I didn't know that Ghoul was something in your Chaos Gacha, but that awakens certain things in my brain, does a 'Ghoul Physical' trait exist in Chaos Gacha?

First off amazing chapter. I'm speechless at this toga. Ahe feels so much more like her manga counterpart but way more scary. Love it. Our boi using his abilities well already. Sadly he needs the money 💰. Hopefully a bloody bean can help him on that front. I wonder why that yakuza wants hakari this time? Also the Ghoul tail really? That man still has his luck. Always bet on Hakari. Also Japan does have a profession quirk license. It was introduced in mha vigilantes. Though it is stupid hard to get. But possible. America still better on quirk laws by a country mile

I am biased towards more biological quirks as well. New Order is cool and all, but I am more of a fan of stuff like Blackwhip, Rabbit, Fierce Wings, etc. I won't say how, but Toga definitely helps Hakari get some bank for sure. For One Piece and Overlord. Well, Overlord is a snipped that I currently don't have plans of serialising. I may release more chapters for it, but it's not a set schedule. And One Piece... not gonna lie, I really just do not like writing One Piece as I have found. So for now, it's MHA and CxC. Some settings I'd like to touch are probably Konosuba and Cyberpunk. I'll probably write a few snippet chapters for them down the line.

Damn, Bikaku and Boundless Stamina are some great pulls to have. Hakari so far is looking to be a physical power house if he can keep the momentum going. And for all of quirk’s technicality being biological abilities, I like that he has the Bikaku going. It’s the most nitpick of nitpicks but when you hear quirks are bio abilities and they can do kooky shit like re-write the laws of reality and turn back time on organisms, it just doesn’t tickle the noggin. And Toga is coming…. well after she gets tamed maybe she could introduce Hakari to Giran who could then get Hakari into some back room games. All for a cut as well. Maybe an underground fight club too. Mirko did the same crap when she was younger so Hakari could try to do it in his 2 weeks and however long after the entrance exam and UA starts. Good stuff man, can’t wait for more. And hoping we get little more of Overlord and One Piece while you still go heavy on DxD and MHA. Is their any other media that’s you would want to do a fic set in as well? I’m happy with the 4 we got but curious what the future holds.

Thing about Yandere is, I don't like altering the personality of canon characters out of nowhere so Toga is really the only candidate unless I genderbent Shiggy or AFO but... yuck.
