I absolutely love this and want to watch an episode of the chain where everyone at the table ends up shitting themselves when they meet an Omnivok

Rogar Ravenhair

I think it’d be cool if when the players find a pice of prismacore they get a cosmic die. Seeing as it’s literally pure energy used to move mountains and create life.

Tery Tucker

I agree, unobtanium could be a living metal that you cant attack with hammer, fire forge. It will fight you. But know how to ask it and it becomes the heart/brain of the Valoks, Who then are made of the best rock/wood/clay etc. I could see a Barbarian punching through a valok, and it exploding in a shower of stone and wood only to have it begin to reassemble as the core/heart/brain puts its self back together.

More on Steel Dwarves please!!!

I'm more of a sword and sorcery guy so that's my bias as a gamer. I think any feedback we could give (if you want it) would benefit from what you are going for in your world. What makes the MCDM world more interesting than the next guys' kickstarter? What makes it unique from the 70s game or pathfinder OR what makes it the same but better? My first impression was that your version of a super metal (unobtanium, etc.) was too similiar to mithril... like it just seemed written like an analog. I think the name is good (Valok etc.) and with the punchy you were looking for, but this seems more like an machine person, not a golem. So I kind of feel like its crossed over into eberron too quickly and missed the chance to explore a unique way that large figures made of mud, stone, wood, and other readily available fantasy materials and magic (rather than pseudo tech). Is your world going to be high tech like Eberron? If so they you are on the right path. But I often wonder about how wild and dangerous the world can really be if we've already mastered environmentally clean robots, trains, street lights and communications devices....

Love the Lore. Would love to see all the lore eventually collected into a Wiki that rounds out all the things that don't fit in the eventual books.

Daniel Friedman

"Where can we find Prismacore?" "I am incomple-" "Yeah yeah, we know."

Celeborn

MCDM's version of Warforged?

Peter Leo Melendez

Not to push you guys toward this... but wouldn't Omnivok be really cool as a playable ancestry ?? hmm ?

John Wayman

"There are three types of robots aboard this mine. Servoks, Valoks, a Multivok, and then there's you" - The Fourth Doctor in Orden

Stephen Carter

I read a lot of this in the voice of the Ruby arm from Dust :)

MCDM Productions

"Can you play an Omnivok?" is a subset of a larger question about playing heroes who start off more powerful than a 1st level PC. We've already talked a *little* about how ancestries might advance along with your class, but no design there yet and probably not for a while. But if we can crack that problem, you'll be able to play an Omnivok! :D

Every time I read a Patreon post or update, I'm always inspired by the cool things you guys manage to come up with. Stuff like this is what really makes me excited for the MCDM RPG.

Belegor

Awesome, I remember hearing about these a long time ago in one of the streams. I love what you did with the names. Not only is it clever, it is simple. So simple infact that I could do something similar for my own writing. I also like how the dwarves being true craftsmen were proud of the Omnivok, whilst still fearing them for what they could do.

MCDM Productions

We think most of the monsters in that book will be in our game, and they will do basically the same stuff they do in that book, just using the new rules.

Dfrid

Do you have any insight into how compatible Flee Mortals will be with the new MCDM RPG?

Christopher Bakker

This makes me think of the creation of the Dragon Phalanx as using a similar process, that there is some link between the blood of dragons and the prismacore that powers the Valok. Something about the idea of powerful wizards trying to recreate the masterworks of the steel dwarves.

Craig Robinson

Seems the Omnivok are very likely capable of making other Valoks, huh. That would be a dope adventure hook; testing the morality of the party to either to help or stop the Omnivok from sparing their species from extinction. On the flip side, playing an Elf ranger whose sworn duty is to hunt Omnivok would also be rad. A fantasy fried Blade Runner.

Mr.Nobody13

The Omnivok remind me of the OMNI from Crying suns.

Munch

I really dig these. I had the same question about the Steel Dwarves wanting to make perfectly passing humans. What was their relationship to humans at the time, and what would humans think of their creation, considering they wanted the Ominvok to be partners? All interesting avenues to explore, but it does seem so human-centric.

Mariamow

I love these tidbits, can't wait to see a timeline/breakdown of how the ages and worlds of Orden work.

Francesco Passero

Making slaves look the same as you reeks of human hubris. Steel dwarves were probably more sensible than us. Kinda related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3-w8pLv67A&ab_channel=ApexClips

Under this category - and lore - seem to fall three types of constructs: 1) The "machine" on the level of a truck, a crane or a tank 2) The traditional Golem itself 3) The Android/Warforged/Automaton and them having a common origin is soooo clever. I like it, it makes the "tech" look special and rare, expecially given no one knows how to build them now. While I'm not huge a Marvel fan, while thinking of an Omnivok I couldn't help but figure The Vision as a great parallel. Or that waking one up, in the deepest levels of the dwarven lost kingdom, would be like waking up a Prothean after millennia of stasis. Very intriguing. So many mysterious terms were used: what's the difference between Sun Elves and Star Elves? what caused the Fall of Kalas Valiar? I'm looking forward to more of these Lore posts, hope they become a regular while the more mechanical stuff is brewing!

Roman Penna

I love this, I don't know if I would be allowed to play an Omnivok in the MCDM RPG but would love to if they ended up being a playable ancestry!

Chloé Martin

Very cool, but why would Dwarves make Omnivok to look like humans?

Eugene Cheney

Very inspiring!

Eugene Cheney

This is so voking cool!
