I love how clever Dexter's evasive answers are. They think it's Doakes? "that's what they're saying" What does this mean? "I can't tell you that" It's still honest!

This scene always gets me so much. The one where we see a closeup of Doakes's face after having been forced to witness Dexter's TRUE and unfiltered face. Pure disgust and shock, just like his father. I don't think any individual with empathy would be able to witness such a scene and not feel utterly gutted. We often get "used" to dexter's routine because it is edited, and there's music and all. But there are these rare perfectly film moments like that instant, where we get to be in Doakes's shoes. And actually witness Dexter's true face. A kill with no empathy. What he does despite fitting a "code" is horrifying.

"Socio" means partner, or more informally, buddy. To English-trained ears, it sounds like Angel is calling Dexter a sociopath, but he's not. I love how the writers brought that in to mess with us.

Doakes couldn't take the slides on the plane because they would be found in customs. He flew there to secure the lab from his formal black ops contact and was planning to smuggle the slides for testing later.

Leaving this comment before watching, Doakes went to Haiti without the slides because he wanted to bring them by boat due to customs once he was able to confirm he could get them analyzed. :)
