Well said Gideon, I agree and it doesn’t make common sense but it sure makes sense when it comes to trauma….its easier for us to create it rather than have it happen by surprise🙏

I really appreciate your comment about the tendency of people with trauma to retraumatize themselves. I think most people don’t understand the way living with trauma can manifest cycles of self-exposure. Speaking from personal experience, on both sides of the table, it is especially tough for the people around them. It can feel sooo exhausting/frustrating, because from the outside it seems super obvious that the behavior is destructive. It’s easy to ask “Why would they keep doing that if they know it hurts them?” And on the other end, it’s just an attempt to regain control. When the trauma happened it was done to you. When you repeat it, in a way you’re the one choosing it.
