They introduce the rengoku more properly as a person and who exactly he is better than the movie does with the extra intro bit before the train, I will say tho he should absolutely skip the intros in each episode because they spoil a lot

whether you watch the movie or episodes, you're in for a treat either way but prepare yourself, you'll need it. I feel like we may get some RT t-shirt worthy quotes from this movie, just like fullmetal "it's a terrible day for rain". unrelated, Mugen is pronounced moo-gen (hard G)

You should just watch the movie for season 2, the episodes dont give much extra thats any useful. Just my two cents.

I think wheather you do season 2 as episodes or as a episode 1+movie is mostly completely up to preference. While I would probably watch all episodes in one sitting to keep up with everything and since its short, I think you should just do what you feel more like doing. In the end its really not that big of a difference :)

season 2 episode 1 is a little prequel to the movie. doesnt add too much. you can jump into the movie and be fine tbh

As others have stated the Mugen Train arc ep 1 is basically a small prequel to the movie. I honestly prefer the movie because the TV episodes version give some spoilers in the intro and episode previews. I highly suggest watching ep 1 of the Mugen Train arc and then continue with the movie, but it's all up to you ^^
