I hope it's a sign of maturity that I enjoy the tense conversations more than the tense fights. Ikfael's two centuries would yield insights that Eight's 72 years cannot touch, albeit insights not involving relationships. (Or Relationships.) I'm glad he no longer considers her naive. It was something that rankled me at one point in the previous book.

Thank you, fixed!

So Ikfael spent long years alone and avoiding personal connections. Now that she has it, she is afraid to lose it and feel lonely again, actually that must feel scarier than before. She has a trauma and is dealing poorly with the situation, but the way she knows how to. "And I promise not to leave you alone at the Glen.” - I think Eight here plans to take Ikfael with him when he leaves for the open world, and she thinks he will stay forever. That's going to bem a surprise for sure

Heleitia really the worst. should be Heleitia really was the worst. I hadn’t felt any resistance from the Taoism skill or sensed anything from the Deer God, though, so it might really would be okay. should be I hadn’t felt any resistance from the Taoism skill or sensed anything from the Deer God, though, so it might really be okay. or I hadn’t felt any resistance from the Taoism skill or sensed anything from the Deer God, though, so it might really eventually be okay.

Ok, that was good. The fight with Ikfael needed to be resolved and I'm glad it happened through careful consideration and clear communication. It wouldn't have done either of them justice if it hadn't been. They are both stubborn, prickly things, but very lovable. Sacrifices need to be made for the people we love, and pride should be the first thing we give up.
