Saturday Update!

I am astonishingly still sick. My lungs/breathing system just refuse to clear π But on the bright side, I have been well enough this week to work normal hours and exercise again, which has helped my mental health a lot.
I was able to do a normal amount of writing last week:

I'm NOT finished the script. It still needs serious editing and also a bunch of alternate content for gameplay stuff. I'll need another two weeks probably. I promise it's for a good reason, I just can't describe it more without spoilers.
I think this will sort of fall into a good new schedule though. The remaining two weeks-ish of script work will hopefully be enough for me actually get over this stupid endless cold. Then I'll be well enough to drop my new merch [ later than I originally said, I know, but I can't handle a new merch drop while sick at all ]. Then once the merch work dies down enough for me to get back to development, I can start fresh on the placeholder sketches.
For anyone new around here that doesn't know my game development process: The placeholder sketch stage is when I go through the game and sketch/doodle out all of the necessary images. This includes backgrounds, sprites, special effects, everything. It takes many months and will likely result in several hundred images.

The reason I fill the game with placeholder sketches instead of just fully drawing everything is so that I can get to a fully testable and functional game without investing maximum time and labour. Then I can do alpha testing and be able to change the game a lot- dropping parts, adding parts, changing things, without wasting fully rendered art. This also gives me time to reset my brain between sketch and render- helping me see more ways to improve and fix a picture before finalizing it. I've used this method since TPOF and I think it results in a much better workflow and better game at the end of the day.

I think that's about all I have this week. I was planning to do my super late Blue Monday art tomorrow but now I have a scheduled repair-guy visit for my stacked washer/dryer [ it came with the apartment and is 23 years old- older than a lot of you! LMAO but it still works. Just needs some new parts to stop making so much noise ]
I might try to do both, but we'll see. I'm not gonna push myself too hard.
Either way, I'll see you all next week! Stay safe, stay warm, and trust that we will find our way through this.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still sick Gato! It always feels so terrible to be sick, you always just wish you can magically get better. To start breathing normally again, not blow your nose all the time or whatever it may be! But it will come, and you will be all better again! π·I have a question too, I've seen some people say Lawrence is a pisces. I'm not sure if its canon or not, some people said it was- but i want to be sure because it'd make SO much sense if he was a pisces! He has all those little traits. It's understandable it you don't want to answer though !

Proud to say I got one of my best friends on BTD, TPOF, and YKMET also! I hope your lungs feel better soon, I love receiving these updates and always ready to see them although I am responding 3 days late as work SUCKS ! Also love seeing Willow every time !β€οΈβ€οΈ

This is looking fantastic honestly excited to see how it all turns out. Lawrence's route in BTD2 was chef kiss back then! You've definitely grown as a creator and it's thrilling to see these characters revisited and revamped years later. Love the lil "Am I dead ? Am I dreaming?" "Yes" LMAO thanks Ashe... Glad to hear you're recovering! I'm so hype for all the sketches you'll drop. Even if it doesn't make it into the final game it feels like a peek behind the curtain and I love that lol. I don't know if you've ever considered doing an art book as merch but if you did I'd love to have something collected with the final CGS and a bunch of your in progress stuff.

Ah yes, the neverending cold ;w; seems like you got the same thing I had last month. If that's the case I would recommend DayQuil for the mucous, once that cleared up I felt a lot better! Now about the game, I'm really excited to start seeing placeholder sketches if you'll share them with us! And I hope being done with the bulk of the writing gives you a sense of accomplishment :) One final note, thanks for the Willow pictures! She never fails to lift my spirits each week.

I had vague plans for a game but honestly I don't see myself completing it any time soon. My only real plans are to complete the YKMET series for now
