Hmmm... I think understand the frustration here. Y'all see Nate as a Mythic crafter/mage. But remember this: he's an artist from the Burbs. Probably doesn't know who Sun Tzu is, and has had negligible training in group combat. For flying by the seat of his pants, the kid's not doing terrible. Hopefully he's got a few more tricks up his sleeve for this fight though.

Would it have helped if the challenges were spelled out better? 1 - No stored processed mana for empowering his creations. Going to a Dungeon would've been time consuming and potentially drawn them into battle. 2 - They have had a few weeks, but even with all his Skill Upgrades, that means making a Legendary item once every 4-6 Days...which would've been 3-9 max if he did nothing but make Legendary items. 3 - Enhancing Britt & Null was more about making sure they survived. Folding Kiri into that was a no brainer. I guess the point I am making is, he did prepare, but this is the only thing he has been preparing for and there are only so many hours in the day. Either way, it seems a decent number of readers are unhappy with how this fight is playing out and it will likely undergo somewhat of a rewrite.

If they lose in 999,999 out of 1,000,000 then they be damned dumb asses to fight at all when their lives never depended on it. I'm kind of torn, yes the MC shouldnt win every battle but they've been planning for weeks to make the rescue then this attack and it's pretty much just meh. golf analogy: it won't be a hole in one, but you're expecting an eagle but will settle for a Birdy, this is already at +3... I'm honestly in shock at how bad this battle has been, except for the enhancement to people I see not a single sign of preparation and I fully expect the prince to give the OPs an enema and the only reason he won't enslave Nate is a divine level of wielding absolute plot armor.

Ellake

Just as a note, none of the Platinums on his side are physical oriented. Since it is a % increase it would not have shown a bigger improvement in them than it would for Kiri or Null.

Except that is not how the story has been written up to this point. Nate himself has said that golds don't pose a threat to him. In every battle that has involved humans and not the dungeon the deciding factor has been the platinums. The Asmuisillans are the best example since they would have lost pretty quickly if Nate hadn't already been selling them barriers. The problem is not the numbers. The problem is the lack of preparation when the story so far has gone out of it's way numerous times to say that if he can prepare Nate will win. Nate prepared, those preparations are three blood blobs that have done nothing of any note. You also have to ask questions like, why did Nate enhance the bodies of the weaker members instead of the stronger platinums where it would have shown a far larger increase in gains and battlefield utility. Also it is kinda odd that a platinum like Luc would not have thought of a way to fight if someone takes a potion that negates his needles. especially since this potion is so common that who knows how many golds all took it. In short the author has committed the worst sin they can. They nerfed their main characters chances and made them temporarily stupid just to ratchet up narrative tension but didn't do it in a way that is believable within the context of the story they have written so far.

Heading loosely for a pyrrhic victory in an 8 v 1 while also being at a general level and equipment disadvantage, it's pretty clear the haters have never played an RTS game. Nate's crew gets stomped in 999,999 universes out of 1,000,000. Every single combatant on their side needs to perform 8x the work of any single defender just to reach a stalemate. Working 16x harder, half of Nate's family survive the victory. For each person we wish to save, the disparity in power and endurance between our hero and their momentary enemy must grow exponentially. TLDR: Get real scrubs, Nate is broken in this world, even when it feels like he's underprepared because the odds are cooked. He's also actively raising people alongside him to be just as broken.

Secret Weapons

yeah seems pretty half assed. Couple blobs that seem fairly useless and making a few peoples skeletons better is not what I expected as the extent of their preparation. Nate can literally field an army of golems with the right materials... and in this battle, way outnumbered..... he chooses to.... uhh... not? At all? Pretty ridiculous.

Secret Weapons

Tftc! Honestly I was sort of expecting him to whip out a few more new tricks this chapter.... they had weeks to plan this and his preparations are a couple blood blobs.... which don't do much it seems, and making his/3 other skeletons a bit stronger.... and that's seriously it? Given the storm that was slowly prepared... they know they were expected... so everyone packing top notch items from the vaults shouldn't really be a surprise... like, at all. Thats just common sense. Really seems strange to me he didn't build more materials for golems, given their lack of numbers... not to mention we know he has the runes to build some sort of shadow trap... so him preparing nothing for Allais is just odd. I also think its odd they've got Jorge and Deverell hanging back doing almost nothing... they are way down on numbers... why wouldn't they be with Britt/Luc in the original plan, wittling down golds? Or if they are going to hang back... why have they seemingly done literally nothing expect a couple random shots Nate's noticed? I assume this is all done so that Coralaine can now save the day, but honestly I don't really care what happens to her.. at all. I'd rather the main character be written as competent instead. Also, I really feel like you've done Luc dirty in these chapters. The guy is supposed to be a feared Platinum combatant.... people take a few potions, ooop, he's completely useless. Really? Either the rest of the world's incredibly stupid and never thought of that... or, again, you are way underwriting the power of someone for dramatic effect.

Secret Weapons

yeah there being no Anti-Light stuff kind of baffles me... unless I'm misremembering, didn't Nate kill that demon thing with some sort of shadow/darkness trap? He clearly has the tools/knowledge to build something to mess Allais up... and just... didn't. Not to mention his other so called prep seems to be completely useless. I really do think this has been written oddly. He either WAY underprepared, which should be impossible, since he's learned not to do that like 4 times already, OR the items/skills are being way underpowered... for dramatic tension I suppose? Either way, the internal logic of the story is confused.

The blood blobs doing seemingly nothing is annoying me too. They are made from the same rarity Level equipment as the Jamisons classes and powered by a mythic skill. They also did recon for days on end and he isn't prepared for an earth mage. Also, why the heck doesn't Aisling have anti Light equipment ?

A Flashy BR

Where is the prep? He should know that they ofc would prep too c'mon Nate you slacker. Tyftc

I agree. Like at no point should Nate have any trouble with golds. And he really didn’t do much but watch as his team was pushed back. If Aisling dies it’s because Nate didn’t do enough to end the fight sooner.

Raymond Mouton

Thanks for the chapter. Well. Shit.

Evan Cathey

Honestly this chapter is kind of annoying. You keep mentioning over and over again that Nate is unbeatable when he has time to prepare. He had time to prepare and seems to have done nothing except create some blood automatons that narratively seem to have accomplished nothing. It's something of a trend with this fic where you keep hyping up their rarity levels but then make them seem to underperform for dramatic tension. If this is the extent of what he can do with time to prepare then that phrase needs to stop being given such gravitas in the story.
