The Next Vote - Grand Plans
🕑 Added 2024-11-15 01:40:52 +0000 UTCWhile I'm still busy with cleaning up The current version of Deadly Furnitures and the Solitude Events, I think its appropriate to Start the next vote now so a high number of folks have time to participate.
We got a interesting mix of options this time. Some single Devices which are a direct result of your feedback and Ideas from the Discord channel, as well as some Grander Quests projects. Old and New
So, without further Ado, lets get to it.
1: Sovngarde Purgatory
Some of you might remember a time roughly 1,5 years ago when there was a poll with only two options . OBH - which ultimately came out as the Winner, as well as the loosing option "Inter-dimensional Necromancers".
The potential purpose of which was to provide an aftermath Scenario when the Player is killed by A furniture and thereby prevent the immersion breaking reload.
And I do of course realize That this issue is still a thing, but Existing Death alternative mods aren't really able to deal with furniture induced death.
So I propose something new to fill this Gap:
- Sovngarde Purgatory -
As the name implies, this would mean that the player is transported to the Nords Eternal Mead hall upon death and is granted the option to make their way back from there. With the Caveat that the Nord heroes there arent particularly impressed with someone who only got there due to their Dragonborn status, instead of the usual requirement, A Honorable death in battle. So they will likely make your (after)life there not particularly easy...
Main Advantage of this approach over the Original Idea would be the fact that Sovngarde is an already Existing location I can use, So I don't have to spent massive amounts of time with making a new Location like the Necromancer Lair from Scratch.
Another Interesting Idea I had would be a follower Integration. Meaning that Followers who have met their ends at the Hand of a Furniture would also Have their Souls moved to Sovngarde in a somewhat disgraced state, and the player would be able to retrieve them after Ending up there themselves and overcoming the trials and tribulations of this situation.
Time Estimate: Very Long
2: Orkish Bounty Hunters
Same as Last Time.
Extend the Currently Existing mod by building two Additional Ork camps in the Worls with new Scenes, As well as build The Exterior Area of the Ork Stronghold and introduce the Leaders of the Hunters, would also come with a small repeatable bounty hunting quest for generic bandits, which can subsequently be brought to the Stronghold and disposed there.
Time Estimate: Long
3: New Device - "The Washer"
This was An Idea that popped up on The Discord, especially by those who like something water-based.
The Idea here would be to Basically take the "Cold face" Event from the PA Punishment Pack, and turn it into a portable Device which can be used and played everywhere. Advantage here would be that there are already existing soundfiles, and Animations for this Scene where fairly simple, so it would be reasonably quick to make.
Time Estimate: short - medium
4: New Device - Garotte MK2
With the current Garotte being the Oldest Device in the Arsenal and looking quite Dated in comparison, It might be time to revisit the concept. The more tech savy among you might have noticed the Zap models which have been Included in Deadly Furnitures for years by now, but have remained unused.
The New Version would go into that Direction, as well as include the Multi - actor Functions and Animations seen in many of the more recent Devices.
This can likely recycle a lot of the scripting from the Hanger, but would need some time for the Paired animation sets.

My PERSONAL preference here is somewhat split.
On the One Hand I wanna at leat have a basic version of the Purgatory ready soon, because appropriate Handling of this Scenario will likely require some retrofits to Existing Devices and PA - Outcomes. So I would rather have the Interface done now instead of increasing the number of Devices which need to be retrofitted later.
on the OTHER hand I wanna do the MK2 Garotte, no good explanation here, its just something I feel like doing.
I do however want to stress that these preference are only marginal. All of the presented options are things I would be happy to work on, otherwise I wouldnt list them. So please vote for YOUR personal preference.

Echo @Kirk Sanders - Purgatory option would be great to provide an immersive continuation to the game post-Bad Ends/Deadly Furniture, and is something I've long been looking forward to. Fingers crossed! :)

Hopefully, in Sovngarde Purgatory, players and followers will be able to retain their carcasses and Furniture upon returning to Skyrim.

Purgatory would provide that needed bit of immersion making death from the furniture more a part of the game than a novelty that requires a reload. The follower integration would be a welcome addition to purgatory as well. Your follower gets killed, you must follow so you can rescue them, a fun side adventure everytime you or your follower(s) is fatally punished. I am using MinAI a lot in playthroughs, having continuity in this aspect of the game would make conversations with my followers surrounding the furniture and death a lot more interesting.
