I would enjoy it more if this isn’t perfect copy of the main character. So she was still technically human. Though continuity is a hell of an argument and ship of theseus issues. To be clear I’ve grown attached to the main character and to learn that she in fact is dead and this is just a baby alien made in her image with a different soul would feel like a slight betrayal.

Catamony

Oop, guess it’s war for extermination instead of War with extermination. Hopefully blasphemy only has the one hive and won’t start attacking viciously from wherever possible!

Foxner

Holy shit! I was feeling super tired when I started reading this chapter, and now my heart is pumping. I absolutely loved this chapter. This was exactly what I needed after the dread from recent events.

BrilliantDawn

Wow this was a cool chapter. Absolute whiplash. But also what the fuck. Are the aliens cenobites

Lorenskye

First diplomatic contact and it's with a Hive of the God least likely to give a shit. Some folk are just edgy I guess.

wierdnitro7

This is an insanely good book. With how influential this move was, I'll be amazed at the military doesn't try using a truth seeking power interrogate/debrief her. I'm so insanely hooked to this lol

Troglodyt

Amazing chapter! I was literally shaking a bit at the end there. The consequences of this will be spectacular and far reaching, can't wait. How do Blasphemy Aliens look compared to Division ones? Also, I can't help but think of the south park goth kids when considering a hive whorspipping blasphemy. "To be a non-conformist you need to do everything like we do"....

fennek

I love this so much <3

Lako

Thanks for the chapter!

I have a feeling the council of Blasphemy isn't going to stay inside their queen's domain for very long...

Sindri

I mean she can be, if she wants, until she gets distracted. But it's just so sub-optimal...

Sindri

I think she's triggered a total war of extermination with the followers of Blasphemy specifically, because their ideology is incompatible with a peaceful resolution. The idea that the land was owned, that the previous inhabitants suffered and their kin still mourn, is a *bonus* for these specific assholes. And they want Juliette, but only after they've destroyed everything she cares about and broken her emotionally and ideologically. But that's just one god, and it seems like the earlier invasion tactics were a result of ignorance rather than malice, honestly believing anything outside of a domain is free for the taking and not knowing that humans consider people without powers to be people. It's entirely plausible that the queens of some of the other gods would be open to peace or even alliance, once they understood. If I was in charge here, I would fly Seraphim out to the outer fringes of every incursion zone you could reach and see if negotiations work better on any of them. But I dunno if that's actually a good idea, or if anybody in this military would consider it an option.

Sindri

Thought in the order I had them: It never occurred to me that getting swarmed by enemy infantry is actually fine for a tank in this conflict. My first impulse is that a dozen raptors would seriously mess you up because they can get underneath your field of fire and then you have no convenient way to scrape them off without infantry support, but... they don't have any of the tools a human combatant would be expected to carry that let somebody slowly bust through armor if given way too long. All they can do is chew on you ineffectually while you drive along. Until a wasp shows up, of course. I feel like a crucial step in the training of these fresh new superheroes has been skipped. You gave them introduction the basics of how powers work, and then a full course on how to be a normal infantry soldier, but there was apparently never a stage of them learning to do serious military stuff with their powers. The first time that Seraphim has been allowed to wear a combat-optimized body is in an actual combat zone? That seems like a way to lose a lot of promising capes before they have a real chance to figure shit out. Unless everybody else got that while "Lia" was diverted to the lab? It occurs to me, for the first time, that assigning the recruits who had spent several days surviving in the depths of an incursion zone to mandatory therapy might have actually been an attempt at helpfulness instead of just a trap. Like, "Lia" seemed fine there for a while but these are definitely PTSD symptoms. Shame therapy doesn't work if you can't be honest, and military therapists apparently don't bother with any of that tedious confidentiality business. Between the jealousy towards Ed's squad and the natural tendency of every soldier I've met to gripe about every ounce of the standard equipment but also constantly collect little bits of 'just in case', I don't think it'll be long before the rest of the squad is asking Sera to swallow dozens of spare magazines and grenades and optical doodads before every mission. everybody wants to be friends with the person who can cough up a smoke screen or extra batteries or a coil of rope or a dry pair of socks on command. Though they might never quite trust a canteen or MRE that she's been carrying. ...Being able to listen in on the communications of a species physiologically incapable of deception feels like cheating. It is however the kind of cheating that this platoon is going to enjoy greatly I think. Angels aren't stupid though; if one particular human unit always seems to know where everybody is and what you're planning, the only reasonable response I can think of is to apply overwhelming force to the area before they can do too much damage. Okay, that negotiation went great! By which I mean it was a disaster but you learned so many things! Things that might allow you to actually negotiate with anybody who *doesn't* worship Blasphemy itself. I don't think you're ever gonna be friends with this particular group.

Lucy Severine

Holy shit. I can't tell if Julietta just actually negotiated or if the enemy just decided to all-out-war

Damn, the amount of literal sadism it takes to just straight up end a chapter with this much cool shit about to happen. Thundagooey knows how to grind them g'dang gears. Smh. Seriously though, fuck me sideways that was so fun to read. Deffo got me stickin' 'round

Lena During

I think we landed solidly in the "no" territory a few chapters ago.

Jeff Casey

Every chapter I feel like one question gets answered only to spawn a dozen more

Flying Goat

I think the answer to "Are You Even Human" for Juliette is most definitely saying "Ehhh...." while moving both hands up and down and shrugging. And maybe moving a pair of tentacles as well.

Kaelik

Can't tell if this is just how you worship contradiction, how you worship blasphemy, or a third thing.

Bobarino102

Tftc. This can only go well

Julia Niles

Thank you so much for the chapter
