Could you give me the chapters you are referencing / the passages ? There is very clearly a difference between being able to heal someone back from the brink of death due to blood loss compared to someone saying, well, it's sadly not really magical healing. It's more like an adrenaline boost. Chapter 21: “I do my best,” Jim shrugs. “Although, er, if I’m being honest I kind of expected you to just magic her back together somehow. I guess, uh, that was pretty stupid of me.” He clearly tries and fails not to stare at her stump arm as he says those words, but as always Castalia doesn’t look fazed. “Unfortunately, only Thalia ever managed that,” she says. “I’m afraid I’m still only learning from her.” “The Corrupted red mage managed it,” I blurt before thinking better of it. Castalia’s eyes fractionally widen, and she turns to stare at me. “Really?” she asks. “I saw her do it,” I confirm. Here we have what that chapter is referencing: Chapter 9: Aurora is a great healer, but magical healing isn’t quite as magical as I’d like it to be. It works more like a shot of adrenaline, which to an incarnate form can actively, physically repair it for a little while. But incarnate forms are strange, confusing things, as conceptual as they are physical, and for whatever reason they retain our physical human weaknesses when it comes to what we can and cannot walk off. It’s not like magic can’t physically repair the injuries of the human body, but as far as I know there was only ever one Earth Guardian who managed it, and she is no longer with us.

Sean Rice

Healing is healing. You're right but there's no meaning behind "true healing". The fact that she can heal with RED MAGIC of all things is the important bit. The third(dead) member of Castalia's original team(polycule?) was supposed to be The Best Healer Evar and HER special thing was that she figured out how to use magic to heal ordinary humans. If you wanna call it "true" healing I guess...but yeah Nana can't do that.

Lovin this

I'm so glad and yet so annoyed to have caught up! Now what am I meant to do D:

Icosa

.... Welp welcome to the DOWNSIDES of synesthesia, where i sometimes get confused when the colors don't match and gaslight myself into thinking they do

pheonix89

Nanaya does not fuck around.

sharikak 54

Aurora is a yellow mage, iirc.

Epikos

This story has been an amazing read.

Chapter 7,9 and 21 In chapter 7 Nanaya heals Anath, who is bleeding out. In Chapter 9, Fulgora/Minerva explain that magical healing is more like an adrenaline shot. Chapter 21 again references healing that seems a lot stronger than the average stuff. I would need to look for more evidence but I think that I am correct

Glitter Rabbit (C)

Yeah, she healed Anath back to 'not going to die' and Fulgora / Minerva comment on the healing bit in the earlier chapters.

ScarletIce

Have we seen her do "true healing"? I'm pretty sure the notable part was that she could heal with red magic, not that she could heal better than other people.

I do wonder if Eliza is gonna remember that Thea actually called Luna by name in that fight a while ago or chalk it up to coincidence? And the fact that Castalia was in a class with Luna before the robot trauma. So from the Magical girls perspective there's the Luna that dropped out of college, an antipathy robot called Luna, and now a cute mute girl named Luna as well

Damn Thunda' you've ruined me, I saw the 'warning: Child Abuse' and I was like 'oh yay! This gonna be exciting!'

Thinking about this chapter a bit more. For Nanaya, the reason she fights and how she fights might actually be a bit more nuanced. From a dichotomous perspective, she either fights to be a saviour and does that by being a revolutionary OR she fights to be a revolutionary and does that by being a saviour. Looking at this chapter alone, she former seems to be true. Saving her people from war by declaring war on society. Yeah, that makes sense. However, she is also capable of true healing, which only one other magical girl could do. That's more in line with being a saviour ('class' wise). So yeah, interesting to consider. She seems to be capable of being both, which is the beauty of the character imo. Anyway, I usually miss things when I have these thoughts, so, as per usual, correct me if I have missed something.

Thanks for the chapter!

Kennyevilmonkey

How many middle schoolers can you take in a fight? Nanaya: Yes.

Kennyevilmonkey

We can sleep when we're dead!

So I have synesthesia, strong associations between colors and letters/sounds (among other things) and it's rare a story like this fits the names to my preferred colors so neatly. Thalia, Nanaya and Aurora are all beautifully red names, Fulgora and Minerva are brown with a hint of red and green respectively, Thea is green, Amaterasu is orange. The only ones that don't perfectly match are Anath, Castalia and Melpomene, and even then they're not so far off. Very cool, my particular brand of pickiness thanks you

Supernova

(narrator voice) Luna did, in fact, know about both Minerva and Fulgora’s incarnate forms.

Nait02

So Nanaya likely is the MG that Chloes father was talking about. That certainly explains the "pit of anger that is Nanaya". I do hope Aurora will be alright.

Lucy Severine

Ooof, Nanaya!!!

Natalie Maher

The first transformation song is "Worldend_dominator" from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. The second transformation song is "An Obstacle in Our Path" from Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.

*looks at time* okay, sleep is for the weak anyway. Time for another chapter
