*Do they even know that only death awaits them? This war was never about us. I know that from the Council of Blasphemy. *death awaits them? This war was

Hmm, if the path can't be changed, and they can't stay where they are, then maybe she can convince them to allow civilians time to escape the Queen's domain.

Katie

and at the same time i respect nothing.

Katie

im plural now. thank you.

*For now*

This theory and thinking is very intriguing. I like the way it ties what we do know with speculation on likely reasons.

D. Paley

If you publish epubs of the chapters along the text, you can probably get away without bothering with formatting, since everyone and their dog would prefer to read chapters on an e-reader app rather than in Patreon's awful interface.

Pyrefiend

What a rollercoaster! That felt like reading 3 chapters in a row.

Catamony

This is interesting, they can’t lie to each other in such a way that it’s not even something they seem to know is possible? So if one came and told them “you must move to this other planet in this location or you will all die”, then they’d have no reason to doubt that.

SunderGoldmane

“Having the protagonists love interest turned in an angelic alien death machine would be pretty on brand for Thunda” *claps*

Damn

DireGoat

The fucked thing is this is unironically the lightest and most hopeful story we've gotten since hiveminds.

jthrr

"Ominous comfort", my favorite ice cream flavor

TheBotler

Good chap!

So, we know that Nothing claims to have defeated all the other gods. My current thinking is that the only way for the "losers" to survive is to extend their domain to somewhere new, outside of the control of Nothing? Not unlike how Julietta has recently learned to teleport... The servants of every god other than Nothing need to leave their old worlds, because they've either lost authority over those places or are about to. But there's vast tracts of "unclaimed" land that they can move into, albeit with extreme discomfort and the loss of many lives. But the way the Defenders knew this was coming... the way Incursions are almost always on top of a population center, instead of just dumping aliens in the oceans where they can actually survive... I don't think that the refugees are the ones making the portals. Or at least, not the ones aiming them. The followers of Nothing are informed ahead of time where and when the portals will open, and those locations are chosen specifically to incite conflict between the humans and the followers of the other gods. To drive more humans into following Nothing, perhaps, since that's presented as the only way to fight back against the "invasion"? If this is all a game of 'lets you and him fight', humans and aliens fighting each other using the powers of their mutual gods until Nothing is left, then having a person who can actually open communication between the two sides and figure out their common enemy would be the worst case scenario for the villain, right? I wonder how much of Julietta's interactions with the Defenders so far has been because of individual choices made by the idealists in the lower ranks, and how much was actually directed by their god. And a lot of people seem to have come together in order to make Julietta what she is now... obviously Possibility, as the direct antithesis of Nothing (and probably the first of the gods) seems to be leading the operation, but Failure chose her sister and provided the information to keep her alive so far, and Reciprocation put a perfectly synergistic little living weapon directly where it needed to be to defend her through Chicago... Division and Perfection haven't played quite as obvious parts in events so far, perhaps by their very nature they have to hinder her as much as they help. Blasphemy couldn't directly aid the quest, but in trying to kill her it fed her more power, and taught her things no human was ever supposed to know... Which brings us to Legion. Maria is the one in the most danger here, according to Failure's warnings, and it's her god that's behind the current invasion. Which... seems odd, since Division went to great lengths to avoid letting Christine die. Maybe Emily's senses read 'turned into an angel' the same way as 'dead'? Having the protagonist's love interest turned into an angelic alien death machine would be pretty on brand for Thunda.

Sindri

Don't worry, this is the lighter and softer Thunda story! Some of the people you care about might not even die horribly! Just keep having hope, no matter how many times it's been crushed in the past!

Rahler

Her God, not her queen. It has been explicitly stated by the queen of blasphemy that Juliet should be a queen herself.

CobaltStellite6

In-Joke's pronouns are they/them.

Quazzy

WOAAHHHHHH AWESOME STUFF

Summer Coff

Called it. Great chapter

DireGoat

How did this situation get even worse. And why am I always surprised when it turns out the world is even more fucked than we thought. You would have thought the 6th time that happened in vigor mortis would have taught me that lesson but apparently not.

Foxner

Omg! Thanks for the chapter! This one was soo good!

Lako

Thanks for the chapter! My guess it that it increases the influence of the gods, which is not something the aliens themselves know.

Ledabot

Oh good memory and a pretty reasonable deduction

pheonix89

...well fuck that's a problem. Is the Goddess from Bios fucking around because this feels like something she'd do!

TroubleFait

Isn't she meeting the God of Possibility in her dreams?

ShadyDemoness

holy shit. Someones forcing an interdimensional war, and even the aliens don't know who it is, but fear it. WTF Thundamoo is cooking

Jayem

Whenever she dreamt of Possibility wasn’t it described as floating through space with many celestial bodies? With one bigger than all the others, or something? Who’s to bet the place she sees is the aliens world (where she is now) and that familiar ‘planet’ is Possibility’s, the same as she is near whenever she dreams.

sebsebs

Incursion from Legion ? Well, I guess we know why Maria (chosen by Legion iirc) is going to be in trouble soon... Thanks for the chapter

Marquess

Or her queen. She’s met her several times now in her dreams.

Marquess

The description offered of the other side raises quite a few questions, but it also answers some. Queen and leviathans seem to fly on their home world, which is why they’re so large. With so many planets close by, there’s probably a whole world for each god. When a portal opens, their closeness allows all gods to spread their domains. And that last part… when the follower of nothing in the lab mentioned that the gods didn’t even realize they were dead, was this what they were talking about? Acting without reason sounds like someone under control.

Aden Howard

Second negotiation with the accidentally genocidal aliens! I wonder how Lisa’s mother learned about the incursion? A precog? Maybe Inside Joke(he’s 100% a time traveler btw)?

TroubleFait

Well if at least they stop killing everyone when they arrive, this won't be wasted.

Mani

Ah yes, the cosmic horrors from beyond the void, are just as ignorant of reality as humanity. Masterful

Wensber

Thanks for the chapter!

TeaGeek

I am loving how quickly she’s getting the feel for the other gods. Poor Marias not getting a hug goodbye, but, yeah, Ana’s the one who needed it. Did she just get a glimpse of her meat mass?
