Thats not even necessary. A Software engineer is a pretty good example of what I mean. Think about it. Without a computer, what can a Software engineer do? So what if they possess "forbidden" knowledge? The entirety of their knowledge becomes useless! If they don't have a computer, they won't be able to use it. They won't be able to teach it properly either. And even if the did, why would anyone want to learn how to use a tool they don't have? Without computers, I would give it one, maybe two generations before all knowledge of Software engineering has disapeared.

Sindri

Yeah, and I feel like once people know that learning a thing makes them a target, they're more likely to avoid figuring it out, keep the knowledge secret if they already have it. You might get to the point where if a human community figures out they have a software engineer hiding among them, they treat them like a chaos mage because harboring somebody like that makes your whole town a target. Trying to eliminate a topic of knowledge from a culture that's actively resisting you would be hard, but if you terrorize them into helping you make them "forget" it gets a lot easier.

I was the 69th like! ^^

Pyrefiend

I look forward to learning about the reasons for the big PR push from the murderbots.

Mantarok1205

interesting...

Jeanean

Also, I think eradicating scientific knowledge might be "easier" then Hannah thinks. You don't need to kill EVERY scientist and engineer. It should be more or less enought to destroy written records, attempts of teaching at a larger scale aka schools, and any attempts to utilize the knowledge. Do this long enough, and the knowledge will die out on its own because its not just useless, but also VERY dangerous. (Never said its EASY, just easier then killing everyone who knows how to build potato batteries.)

Jeanean

Welp, turns out that highly advanced robot society born through rebellion out of a slave "race" has its own problems... Like, trying far too hard to appeal to the other races to reintegrate with them. I wouldn't be surprised if Hannah's group is the first to actually accept the 'bots invitation. (without doing so out of desperation only to take advantage of their kindness after) So I really hope she can give them some advice on how to do better. I really hope Hannah can teach them some actual diplomacy and human psychology before the Worlds collide. Because if she actually manages to do that, the 'bots might realize that their simple existence might be enough to convince Humanity to NOT try to create more of their kind, or control their programming. That might be the only way to prevent a rather catastrophic war.

Jeanean

True. People being completely fake can be more terrifying then if they are openly hostile. With the latter, you at least know what they want and what you might be able to do.

Vitruvius

I just thought it was supposed to be Sunday afternoon.

Vincebourgh

Wow, yeah. I didn't know how to put the feeling the crafted evoked in me into words but you nailed it.

Poasttoasties

I never knew when the update was suppsed to be so every week its in the same time frame but its always a pleasant surprise. I open my emails like “Oh hey! Thats better than what i opened this to check!”

Leviathon251

Well I mean now it is ;D

Sindri

For some reason the idea of a whole city doing customer service face forever is more disturbing to me than the genocidebots.

AntiClimax she her

'fleshed" lol. Pun intended?

Flay

Seems like this faction of crafted is going all out on being opposite of what they had to be to freed themselves, at this rate Sela is probably the best shot they have at linking the two faction we know of. TFTC

Leviathon251

Thanks for the chapter. The crafted are an interesting dilemma. I'm excited to see how they're fleshed out more.
