Some interesting ideas. Since she can get a bio scan of every creature, without a domain, I feel like she could counter them with minimal risk to herself given time and mastery of her powers. Having perfect knowledge of their biology and the ability to morph at will she may be able to exploit their weaknesses. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s not just flesh she can use. I think she’s done bio scans of trees and plants too. Which would imply some capacity to morph into them or use parts of their anatomy. Maybe not at her current power level though. I wonder what the lower limit of life form available to her is or if there is a specific mass needed to maintain consciousness. There are many ways to get energy in nature and many organisms out there. If a form she is using loses too much mass the maintain cohesion morphing to a form with less mass (repurposing the excess mass for energy is common in nature) may be more efficient then trying to repair the damage. Although for story purposes that may derail things or make them overly complicated.

Distributed nervous system and the ability to maintain continuity of self without any brain at all combine to mean that our heroine probably cannot be killed anymore, except maybe by total destruction of the entire mass of constantly shifting and expanding flesh. Everybody had been thinking that she wouldn't be great as a front line combatant because the best she could do is replicate one of the enemy warforms and then try to regenerate faster than they killed her, making her no more effective than a single armored vehicle in most circumstances. But where a tank can't get the job done, a shoggoth definitely can. So, what vulnerabilities remain? Something like a nuke could disintegrate her straight up, but I don't think any conventional weapons could destroy enough of her to prevent regeneration. Alien claws and fangs and acid sprays are meaningless. That leaves the infinite range of powers, and there's a lot of things that could overwhelm her authority if she spreads it out... but her default state is compressing down to only affecting her own body, which puts her up several effective ranks for purposes of overruling offensive effects. She doesn't even need to expand her aura to cover her squad, really, since she can just extend tendrils that touch all of them at the same time. The increased hunger implies that she does need biomass for something, even if she seems to be blatantly violating thermodynamics when she makes her changes. Maybe she has an extradimensional pocket of spare flesh, and when she uses it up she can't regenerate anymore? But if there's one thing this kind of alien invasion doesn't have any shortage of, it's spare meat. When she really gets going, she can probably stretch her tendrils across most of a city, consuming every behemoth and every wasp and every angel that isn't fast enough to escape, until there's enough of her to envelop the queen. Now, how best to reduce the amount she accidentally terrorizes her roommate in the middle of the night? Because the next sleep cycle is gonna be fucking traumatic.

Rather than leaving things there, I find it much more interesting whether she could split her body and control several of them at once. Since her mind is not limited by her brain, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be able to inhabit two bodies at once.

I understand her earlier reservations about messing with the brain but after this chapter I wonder what she could do with the complex nerve clusters of the cephalopods. She could potentially make “automated” alien blade limbs!
